As you surely know, India first developed the atomic bomb decades ago - and it was a Sai follower, Dr. Bhagavantam, who was known (in Puttaparthi at least!) as the 'father' of India's atomic bomb. However, late in 1967 the scientific leadership at BARC led by Homi Sethna and Raja Ramanna undertook a new effort to develop nuclear explosives, one that was larger and more intense than any previous efforts. One that would lead to the successful design of a nuclear device, a device that India would successfully test. As usual, India blames Pakistan, and Pakistan blames India and so on... Let us hope that this absurd farce ends well and sooner than later... but India's non-violent dharma is very hard to discover these days, one must admit. President Kalam did make delivery vehicles for nuclear devices - it is the basis of his fame! What could they be for? Hardly in reserve to bomb the Soviets or USA, hardly China either? Getting facts straight, yes! AQ Khan's exploits are well known in the area of clandestine nuclear material sale to rogue nations.. India was protecting itself. Also, Kalam did NOT provide the means to bomb Pakistan. You make it sound like that was his sole objective. Let's atleast get the facts right. Points taken though. Makes sense but atleast get some facts straight regarding the start of nuclear arms race.
