“Good Chances” with a villager, Sathya Sai Baba

Quote from ‘Heart to heart’ (p. 54 Sai Towers Publishing 1996) by Howard Levin:

(Author) “Doesn’t Swami know the difference between a photostat and a forgery?”
(Kasturi) “How can he know that?’ Mr Kasturi retorted. ‘ He’s only from a village.”

Comment: Isn’t that revealing. Prof. N. Kasturi himself, the “official biographer” who praised Sathya Sai Baba to the skies as the omniscient savant surpassing all others in his publications is revealed, despite himself, showing that in truth he did not reckon that Sathya Sai Baba knew more than a simple Puttaparthi villager! Howard Levin also tells how Sai Baba was completely unable to figure out howa certain simple Western mechanical toy worked and had to be told how by others. So much for ‘omniscience’ in whatever shape or form!

The American devotee Howard Levin also wrote a book about his time near to ‘the avatar’ entitled “Good Chances”. Those are the very words Sathya Sai Baba was later reported by several of those who he wanted to have sex with! Howard Levin was a young man during the 1970s having very close daily contacts with Sathya Sai Baba. He tells how Sai Baba said those words to him and to other young American men staying there with him, including Tal Brooke (to whom Sathya Sai Baba made clear sexual advances, as detailed by him from 1980 onwards in his books). ‘Good chances’ is a revealing title indeed, little did Levin think how it’s actual meaning would be mad clear decades afterwards!

Sathya Sai Baba openly condemns himself

“… envy is only the consequence of pride and pride comes of ignorance of your role. You believe that you have achieved much and that others are not giving you the respect due to you. They honour some one with less achievement, more than they honour you. Sathya Sai Speaks, Volume IX, p. 167

Comment: The world honours a host of people as having great achievements, far more than they do Sathya Sai Baba. He envies these who are recognised when he attacked his critics and moaned: “Why are those with a modicum of intelligence unable to recognise this truth?”

In his infamous Christmas Day Discourse, 2000, he made most unforgiving, un-Christlike condemnations of his critics at that time. He has continued in this vein now and again until the present. His words are in brown text:-

“These types of publicity are shameless. Truly they are not human beings at all. The ones who put obstacles in the way of all sacred works are demons, not human beings. The determined vow of Sai will never change, even if demons like this may be all over the world. (Swami bangs his fist decisively on the table to emphasize His point. The audience applauds for long.)”

Comment: But these ‘loving devotees’ made clear they loved most to hear that people are demons and inhuman. What a farce!

“They are trying to reduce the respect for Sai Baba with all this lowly publicity. I do not desire respect at all. If it lessens, what is the loss for Me? Gradually the respect will go on increasing. Even if this publicity goes on, using all the letters of the alphabet, in this whole world and in our country of Bharat, My glory and the respect for Me will NOT BE reduced by even a fraction.” (see here)

Comment: It is patently clear that you desire respect and do not desire criticism! Nothing could be much clearer from what you actually say and do to those are are not taken in by your constant bragging claims.

“People who indulge in false allegations are bound to be ruined. Those who instigate such false publicity too will meet their doom.”

Comment: If only this were true. You should watch yourself, Sathya Sai Baba… watch your words, character, your heart, your actions …  for you have deceived, called your critics demons and “not even human”  and you stated that they were motivated by monetary gain. This last is a blue-faced lie, and you know it in your impure heart, the heart you claim that no one can ever know! Apropos, I am making NO false allegations at all, nor are many others who use their freedom of speech to question and criticise you and you acts and protest against the sexual abuses they most credibly claim you are guilty of.

“These persons are unable to do even a thousandth of what Sathya Sai Baba is doing for society, but shamelessly indulge in false allegations. It would be far better if they follow Sathya Sai Baba instead and set an ideal to the rest of the world.”

Comment: Many of his critics have been founder members of his centres and have worked for decades for his Sathya Sai Organization projects, contributed their savings and driven the service projects forth. But he claims the credit! Is this an unassuming holy man or more like a psychopathic charlatan full of chutzpah?

“Have any of them been able to accomplish at least one-thousandth of what Sai Baba is doing? No, no, no! It is only Sathya Sai Baba who has undertaken such noble tasks without a trace of selfishness. Sai’s heart is pure, His feelings are sacred, and He is totally selfless. Sathya Sai Baba stands for 3P’s, namely, Purity, Patience, and Perseverance. There is no trace of selfishness in Sai Baba from top to toe. He is rendering totally selfless service. Why are those with a modicum of intelligence unable to recognise this truth?”

Comment: He doesn’t know why? So much for his self-asserted omniscience and his self reflection! This constant reiteration in discourse after discourse of his tremendous attributes, prowess and purity, his massive self-acclamation and trumpet blowing ad infinitum, all pronounce to the world how he is mostly wind and private fury.

Sathya Sai Baba defends himself by proxy

Quotation from Sai Baba’s Birthday Discourse 23rd November 2006
“However, there are certain people who are creating differences. As the name and fame of Swami is spreading, many people have developed jealousy and they are making false propaganda. Recently, a meeting was held in London in which Air Chief Marshal (retd.) Suri repudiated all such false propaganda. There he told the critics that they should go to Sathya Sai Baba, observe and experience the truth personally and then only make any comments.“

Comment EXACTLY what I have done. The proof is in my book of 1994, available as ‘Source of the Dream’ (Samuel Weiser Inc. 1998 and Sai Towers 2000) and in many articles in Sanathana Sarathi and other publications. Suri may have repudiated all false propaganda, but he has not repudiated anything which the expose has presented in the way of facts, videos, testimonies and the demonstration of the falsity and contradictoriness of Sathya Sai Baba’s own words.As to ‘jealousy’, who wants to be known as a sex abuser of young boys and men, an accomplice to murders, or wants to compete with a known deceiver and outright liar about his critics!

Sai Baba went on about Suri’s propaganda talk:
“He further asked them not to listen to all sorts of gossip and start talking about it. What do you gain by listening to others? Those who spread rumours have themselves not seen or experienced anything.”

Comment: I am not spreading rumours, because I have seen and experienced a great deal through 18 years, nine visits and five 2-hour interviews. Nor do hundreds of long-term followers who have left Sathya Sai Baba. Many have convincingly declared that Sathya Sai Baba is a sexual abuser, other that he makes use of fraud, many sorts of deception, countless broken promises, bogus prophecies which do not come about…

Further, Sai Baba said: “But they started false propaganda and it spread to many countries; it reached India also.”

Comment: Quite a lot came from India itself. Such as the evidence of very close devotee Dr. Naresh Bhatia that Sathya Sai Baba anally raped a 7th grade student of his, damaging his anus. He challenged Sai Baba who told him ‘Don’t bargain with God!’ and dismissed him from his post at the SS Speciality Hospital. Bhatia reported that he knew Sai Baba had daily sex with a large number of students. He told the Daily Telegraph that he even had a homosexual relationship with Sai Baba over a number of years. And also: “Without ascertaining the facts, some Indian newspapers also published these false articles, imitating the foreign newspapers. In fact, these critics don’t have faith in what they themselves speak. Then, why should they believe in what others say? Their only intention is to defame Swami by foul means. But it is not possible for anyone to defame Swami.”

Comment; I for one certainly am totally convinced, after 10 years of investigation that Sathya Sai Baba is guilty of all the crimes and deceptions that I have reported on. My only intention is to bring out the truth which Sathya Sai Baba is desperately trying to convince his followers is not worth investigating! We all know why!

Calumnious Air Marshal Suri was talking through his hat for he no doubt is a cover-up man who sees his interests and prestige best served by denial of facts. But history will prove he is part of a cult which he knows better than he admits, and nothing can stop any serious researcher from realising that the critics are fully justified. Nothing can cover up these mendacious conspiracies in the long run.

Sai Baba also told the crowd: “Thousands of people have assembled here. Heads are many, but the feeling is one.”

Comment: Not claiming millions of visitors as usual, but only thousands this time. For once he approaches the factual truth! (See the many  lies about such matters in previous years)

Corruption endemic under Sathya Sai Baba’s leadership

The core of the organisation controlling and funding Sai Baba interests, the Sathya Sai Central Trust, is a tax and custom duty free institution by special allowance of the government. As a Charitable Trust it is not legally required to have any rules or guidelines. It is run entirely by the board, which always defers to Sathya Sai Baba’s wishes. No one knows how or when he delegates authority or exactly to whom, and he does not explain in public why he dismisses or engages directors to the Board. No known structure or defined way of dealing with matters exists, or if it does it is at any rate kept secret. It publishes no minutes from its meetings and is totally unaccountable to the public, or even to donors. In 1995 Colonel Joga Rao was dismissed from the Board of the Sathya Sai Central Trust for having bought an apartment block in Delhi he could not explain and for taking kickbacks from the contractors of many building project at Sathya Sai ashrams and other concerns, Tubro & Larsen.

The former Head of Prashanti Nilayam ashram and former Secretary to the Sathya Sai Central Trust (until 1996), Mr. Narayanan, was also dismissed from his posts by Sai Baba for financing a luxury villa in Bangalore with embezzled money. So the self-proclaimed all-knowing and righteous God allowed his servant to embezzle funds us all contributed to for so long and so much. This is the kind of example Sathya Sai Baba sets when he announced to every potential donor that “not a naya paise is wasted” (i.e. “not a penny”)! The same treatment awaited Mr. Nataraj, once head of the accommodation office at Prasanthi Nilyayam was also dismissed for long-term embezzlement.

One of the best known scoundrels was Mr. P. Suri of the Sathya Sai Books and Publications Trust, who milked the system for years. In 1993, when the press descended on the ashram to investigate the murders in Sai Baba’s bedroom and the suspected corruption in the Trust and ashram, Suri was found to have 25 lakhs of rupees in his room for which he could give no account. Nor could he produce any accounts at all for the Book Trust of which he was the Convenor! Both the above were given the sack by Sai Baba, but not until their rascally practices had long been fairly common knowledge to residents, such as V.K. Narasimhan. Mr. Suri received 900 copies of the first edition of of my book (then entitled ‘The Source of Dream’), which was sold from the Prashanti bookshop for Rs. 50.- per copy (in 1994). No accounts were presented to me or anyone else, though V.K. Narasimhan tried to obtain such from Mr. Suri, but in vain! (See here)

Other authors of books donated to the ashram, including Al Drucker, Rita Bruce, and UK based Mr. Taylor (publisher of the ‘Gufa Narayana Ashram’ books) all suffered similar or worse treatment from Mr. Suri. He would accept money for printing a book, then not print it and not refund (Al Drucker experienced this but rationalised it as a ‘leela’ of Sai Baba!). Suri accepted printing plates from the Bruces (‘Vision of Sai II’ by Rita Bruce), but failed to use them as agreed for a new printing to benefit the Book Trust – claiming he had lost them.  All the plates had to be made again in Bangalore by the Bruces at their own expense. Mr. Taylor, a servitor who ran one of the ashram shops voluntarily for years, arranged for the English translation and publication of the book ‘Gufa Narayana Ashram’ by Swami Maheshvaranand, which was a sell-out within days of its appearance. He told me in detail how he had offered the second volume to Mr. Suri for further (lucrative) publication by the Book Trust, giving him the manuscript. Mr. Suri held onto the manuscript and did not publish it, nor would he return it. It seems he had arranged to publish it with some other private printer and then take out the profits himself. Eventually, said Mr. Taylor . he had to ask Sai Baba about the matter and later the second and also a third volume appeared.  Mr. Taylor left the ashram not long thereafter, calling Suri a crook. Such is the corruption right under the nose of the ‘omniscient avatar’! Amusingly, devotees were talking about something Sai Baba is reported to have told the head cook in the Indian canteen when asked about why he allowed these things to go on: “God allows his cows to shit where they will”. In any case, Sathya Sai Baba does evidently not constrain his ‘cows’ most of the time.

Sathya Sai Baba finally deposed Mr. Suri and was seen to ignore him totally where he sat, at the rear of the veranda. Lesser known is the fact that Mr. Suri had already lost two sons by that time. A former student of the Sai College who posted on a bulletin board, had the following to say:-

“We have all the respect for Mr Pramod Kumar Suri, who inspite of his very short temper & inhuman attitude towards his junior employees ,is a honourable man, we respect his sentiments. But we also are bothered about his late son Yuvraj, a fine young man & what he went through. Perhaps you may not know, but Mr Pramod Kumar Suri also lost his other son who died under mysterious circumstances in the SSS Hostel at Brindavanam.” It is true that Mr. Suri was a very morose looking man and I remarked to Rita Bruce that I never saw him smile. She replied: ‘He only smiles when he is lying “.

Mr. Suri was treated with contempt by Sathya Sai Baba his embezzlements and nastiness deserved (according to VKN) very similar practices were reportedly continued under Mr. Rajanathan, who took over the profitable position. One noteworthy fact about the methods used by staff at Prashanthi Nilayam is that, if by some error one pays in too large a sum of money, one cannot get a refund. My wife unwittingly did just that in 1998, due to a fault by the clerk who calculated wrongly and overcharged by hundreds of rupees!. They would not refund the difference even five minutes after payment and said they have an iron rule: to pay out nothing whatever. Instead the difference had to be placed in an account with them. Any money you have on account with them you can never recoup, but to make up for the amount they may sometimes send on some unwanted, unreadable trashy books that they can’t sell! But not even that at times. This underhand dealing from the Prashanthi Nilayam bookshop was confirmed to me by Aime Levy who started the Sai Bookshop in London (and donated the whole building he had financed plus all the profits to the Sathya Sai Organization.

Thinking of Visiting Sathya Sai Baba ashrams?

A Day in the Life: The day begins very early – one must be up and queuing extremely early if one is to have any chance of getting anywhere near to the so-called ‘darshan’ area at Sathya Sai Baba ashrams. Being there can be very trying. Among the male invalids, who stand for up to 1 or 2 hours despite their frailty so as to get to sit on one of the too few uncomfortable chairs, there are pushers, line-cheaters and No 1 Egos who often succeed in running ahead to bag the best places day after day, leaving the weak, the blind and the infirm to stagger to a rear seat (if they are in luck!). Those invalids who still have enough physical stamina to march on the early morning bhajan-singing ‘nagarsankirtan’ cannot get to the front of the standing queue for the invalid chairs, for the queue will already be formed and long by the time they have finished. Invalids who are not selfish and who show respect for others’ problems almost always end up in in the rearmost seats. Inside the darsan compound, invalids are now relegated to most uncomfortable stone benches along the insides of the outer walls.

Of course, no one can take in so much as a pen or anything that could remotely be used in any way to cause any physical injury to…. well, to whom? Who would anyone want to attack precisely within the darshan compound?  Good question! Both men and ladies are body frisked!

Dry dust is a major problem at Prashanthi Nilayam, especially when there is wind. Daily, however, sweepers with switches raise the dust with great thoroughness, so it pervades rooms and settles all over, even within zipped holdalls and locked cases. Germs are carried on it so that illnesses spread easily.

At Prashanti Nilayam, dogs battle it out in twos, threes or large groups – day and night – reminding somewhat of certain groups at darshan or in canteen and other queues. At intervals, when Sai Baba is away and there are very few foreign residents present, the dogs are netted and taken away in scores by lorry and dumped in the wild (it is said). Anyone who dares to take a photo of this trapping of dogs – they wail very loudly – can be blacklisted from future visits, as happened to a Romanian-Norwegian lady we knew in the 1990s. Dogs are supposed to be sacred to Shirdi Sai Baba and hence to Sathya too… so this treatment of them must be covered up, like any other matter which could show up the shams that are all too common there.

The women, especially the predominant mass who are Indians (but also certain Southern Europeans and Southern Americans), often stand up and trample their neighbours when Sai Baba approaches. So much so that Sai Baba once complained to his Seva Dal ladies for behaving like wild horses. Overweight females often block the view of others and one must be careful that they do not trample ones feet and hands. But other ladies can also be extremely persistent, they will squeeze into tiny spaces between people, then push for space and sprawl over people. Indian women are especially given to chatter during darshan. They can be extremely impolite and selfishly arrogant when approached about it, not a blush nor a batted eyelid. The men are more disciplined on the whole (excluding young Indian men and a number of Southern Europeans), where Italians probably rate highest as a pushy, selfish nuisances. A few of the itinerant sannyasins or their like smell so badly from their pungent breath and choking body odours that to sit beside – or even near to – them (which most will avoid at any cost)  is a sort of torture.

The 60th birthday, when the dust clouded permanently up to and above the heads of the crowd, resulted in estimated 80% of those present getting influenza and/or severe stomach complaints with diarrhoea. Also very unhygenic are the open food waste bins which are visited by monkeys in troops and dogs which are ever leaving behind large curls and spirals of faeces as their ‘visiting cards’. The 70th birthday was also mostly celebrated within a huge cloud of dust…

Ashok Bhagani denies fully documented facts

In the magazine Asian Voice, Ashok Bhagani of the Sathya Sai Organization in UK claimed: “when devotees are selected by Sai Baba for a private interview, there is always someone else present in the room, and this is especially the case when women and children meet him.” The above word “especially” makes the (unintended) tacit admission that  ‘always’ is an exaggeration!  By using the word ‘always’ he lays claim to know what he cannot – as if he were permanently present at every interview himself.  He used to have perhaps one or two interviews a year. No, it is TOTALLY incorrect that there is always someone monitoring young men in interviews!

My wife and I have seen a number go into the ‘private room’ in the Prashanthi Nilayam ashram for longish periods quite alone with Sai Baba behind a firmly closed door (see image). Three Swedish boys were often taken in alone for periods of 8-10 minutes – both left Sai Baba permanently, one called Tom spoke out in the Organization about being sexually molested, the other I knew well only told close friends of what occurred.  Two Danish young men I knew (both also later disaffected) and two Indian students were all individually taken into Sai Baba’s ‘private room’ behind closed doors for periods when we were at the interview!

BBC Radio 4 – Sunday 19th November 2000 “Ashok Bhagani, head of the UK Sathya Sai Organization, vigorously denies there is any substance to the allegations, and so was the anointing of the genitals of young men by Sai Baba out of the question.”
A close family member of Mr. T. Meyer (Central Coordinator of the Sathya Sai Organization in Europe) exchanged a series of e-mails with me, telling me how the younger son was genitally oiled by Sathya Sai Baba. His father even admitted to me in an e-mail  that such oiling or ‘anointing’ of genitals takes place, calling it the ‘age-old Indian oil ceremony’. From the many descriptions given by those subjected to it, it is most likely a kind of grooming to possible intercourse. Numerous other testimonies of genital oiling are found see some early accounts at  Sathya Sai Victims. So Mr Ashok Bhagani is either very badly misinformed and not wanting to investigate anything or he speaks against his better knowledge!

As to the refutations of the allegations by diverse followers, obviously not one of them been able to monitor Sai Baba in his bedroom apartment, which he is well known on his own admission to share with several college boys every night. He has even described this himself in his discourses!

Like all other defenders in denial, Ashok Bhagani also tried to conceal the extent and number of the allegations of sexual abuse  – at least 30 made public since 1999 with name and most credible details. In addition, the circumstantial and corroborative evidence is massive, Three of Sai Baba’s very closest devotees who have each had at least a hundred interviews left him because of his sexual abuses, one of them telling how he was himself abused. Extensive documentation can be examined here to ones heart’s content. The truth about Sai Baba is not popular with his remaining followers, who are in major denial of the facts!

The BBC on Radio 4 documented several testimonies of sexual abuse and were not challenged they stated: “We contacted the Sai Baba Organisation in India but a senior official there made it clear they were not willing to talk to the BBC.”

“It is not acceptable in any form of language and this sort of behaviour does not agree with spirituality. You know, Sai Baba is a spiritual leader and I can tell you categorically this sort of thing doesn’t happen there. These are disgruntled people. They may have been previously Sai Baba devotees, but they are disgruntled, with an axe to grind and I welcome anyone to contact me if they’ve got a serious allegation, and errr … We will talk to them.” However, this was empty talk as Bhagani ignores every complaint on these issues and has never contacted any of the major critics of Sathya Sai Baba, whose sole aim is to expose the facts and protect the wider public from this insidious cult.

Ashok Bhagani, Sathya Sai Baba cult promoter in UK

Askok Bhagani , a trustee of the UK Sathya Sai Organization, of which he is the UK head, is an out-and-out propagandist for its figurehead, the self-proclaimed God Incarnate, Father Who Sent Jesus etc. The case where he was brought to book by the Westminster Cathedral, (Catholic Church London), authorities for false information about their speaker on the Sathya Sai Organization website is another instance of his slippery propaganda agenda for this personality cult see here That he does not stick to the truth – or investigate it either, is patently evident. He cannot defend his statements against sexually abused witnesses, many affidavits and massed testimony and documentation.

Therefore, though he impugned the BBC team who made the documentary ‘The Secret Swami’ without himself producing any evidence at all, he made no legal challenge against the BBC over the documentary despite all his bluster, for the BBC had gathered massive testimony from alleging victims of Sai Baba sexual abuses, including 80 hours of film which could not be included in the 1-hour documentary. The BBC were not sued in any country in the world, though the Sai Organization tried their utmost through deputations to broadcasters, e-mail campaigns and other means to try to stop the programme broadcasts in Canada, Australia and elsewhere.

Ashok Bhagani also claimed – as reported in The Asian Voice:  “The BBC has acted totally irresponsibly. The allegations in the documentary are completely factless and baseless.” (The compromised news article can be seen here)
“What actual evidence does the BBC have to substantiate these claims? These allegations have been circulating for years and have never been proved.” They have not been proved in court because Sathya Sai Baba is protected by devotee Prime Ministers, Presidents, Supreme Court judges etc. As former UK Prime Minister Blair wrote in a letter on record from UK Cabinet Office documents, ” there is little that the Government can do. Those who have complaints against Sai Baba will have to take them to the Indian police.” In short, a most perilous undertaking considering the police murders that occurred in connection with Sai Baba and disappearances of foreign visitors to his ashram.

Ashok Bhagani also stated: “As far as I’m concerned, there are 30 million happy devotees in the world, but every so often you will get two or three who will make these wild allegations.” Mr Bhagani mentions “30 million devotees”, but this is Sai propaganda, so widespread that even the BBC fell for it . Real followers might amount to a few million, most of whom are not even members in the organization. But in official Sai literature we find claims of 60 million devotees, and in many instances on the Internet even 600 million too!

Sai Baba Education in Human Values (SSEHV)

Despite it educational shortcomings, Sathya Sai Education in Human Values (SSEHV) is based on quite acceptable ideas of truthfulness, non-violence, peace, love and virtuous action. Unfortunately, the way these are defined has been ’set in stone’ as the ‘eternally divine wisdom’ of the self-proclaimed creator of humanity and everything else. Adherents of this doctrinal system are no doubt well-meaning but as devotees of Sai Baba aiming to be voluntary child educators they are almost entirely unqualified, only relatively very few even being school teachers. No feedback, no comments to change the fundamental doctrine (however constructive) are acceptable to the authoritarian leadership, the structure of whose organization is entirely top-down and (allegedly) depends on the word of Sathya Sai Baba for every important decision.

Censorship replaces any attempt at interactive dialogue or introduction of the views of the world of professional educationalists, researchers in pedagogy and other well-established science dealing with children and their development. This is basically a religious teaching, based on Sathya Sai Baba’s rejection of various secular educational value orientations, such as human and women’s rights, human justice, democracy and social equality. . . these are also “human” values, not “divinely-ordained human values” (an oxymoron!) of their guru-God, held also to be the essence of all religions (i.e. religious and not secular values!). Though the values which are held by human beings have common features, they are nonetheless very diverse and changing in many ways. No teaching based on a set of chosen values which cannot be modified or disputed can reasonably be considered to be dealing with genuine human values. The subject of sex education or sexuality is taboo in EHV, which has an old-fashioned puritan agenda. The child abuse and sexual accusations against Sathya Sai Baba make the subject yet more avoidable.

The Sathya Sai Education in Human Values (SSEHV) staff in all countries are totally impervious to any serious outside comment – other than praise. They  ignore educationally qualified critics and ostracise them if their views diverge from the accepted dogmas of SSEHV, because they are then condemned as non-believers in the guru God, Sathya Sai Baba. SSEHV does NOT promote only universal spirituality, as is claimed, but promotes the personality cult of Sathya Sai Baba, as will be shown in extenso in later postings. Meanwhile, see image here.

This is all cult-related 'education'

Such an isolated system of teaching is a potential danger to citizens everywhere, not least to child development. The developmental aspect of a human being, especially a child, is not advanced by unresearched, uncertain methods of education by amateur volunteers whose minds are ideologically controlled in a personality cult.

Defenders of SSEHV demonstrate how blind devotion overrules sound thinking and obviates any genuine dialogue. Since neither Sathya Sai Baba nor the Sathya Sai organization have given any proper response to his widely alleged sexual abuse of male minors, the teachers have to find their own solution of how to teach morals and at the same time carry the burden of the allegations in the wider community. How can they teach their student openness, sincerity and commitment to truth if they themselves have to keep silent, be confused and participate involuntarily in covering-up without any chance to ask their leaders and to get a clear answer.

The consequences can be seen in e-mail exchanges (click here). For example, Dr. Madhava Majmudar – former leader of EHV in Scotland – was incapable of intelligent discussion of the value education system she preaches and cut off communication very soon. She put an article on the Internet, which is still there, but evidently wants that it should escape any peer evaluation or criticism, for she then tried to get valid, informed but critical comments made in reply by Serguei Badaev removed by Google etc. For a person holding an academic degree, this response is simply unprofessional and her response actually verifies Badaev’s contentions about SSEHV by thus ignoring any modern research and being closed to reasonable dialogue, change or improvement. Serguei Badaev, dismissed as President of the Moscow Centre for raising burning issues – former leader of EHV in Russia – asked: “Where are those model teachers who should teach SSEHV with Love and Wisdom. Who will choose them? What process will produce them? To my mind the system of SSEHV as it is cannot be not be an environment which will do that. No exchange of opinions, no discussion of problems, no sharing and support. Even the British SSEHV web site has not any sort of a forum.”

In a mail exchange with Badaev, Isobel Ritchie (SSEHV Convener for Scotland) admitted to some of the failings, as when she wrote: “We have had a couple of people here in Scotland removed from the Sai Organisation to my knowledge for ‘not following rules’ of the officials in the Sai Organisation” see here

Serguei Badaev received an e-mail from Linda Raine (from Southern Cross University, Australia where she was or is presumably studying), a Sai Baba devotee who is involved in the Education in Human Values programme. The e-mail speaks for itself as to finger-pointing patronizing moralism:-

Why the Sathya Sai organization is a cult

Hiding the belief that Sathya Sai Baba is God Incarnate

Covering up more and more: The International Sathya Sai Organization’s leaders realized long ago that it was extremely necessary to play down the questionable sides of Sathya Sai Baba – his megalomaniac claims of being The Deity of all Deities at whose feet all prayers to whichever god eventually arrive and so forth (which they nevertheless must believe wholeheartedly – along with everything else he states – if they are to be high office-bearers in his cult). The International Organization was gradually convinced – not least by Westerners – that Sathya Sai’s ‘teaching’ and public image must be sanitized as far as possible so as not to put off people who would be sceptical (thus regarded as ’spiritually immature’). Therefore the fullest possible emphasis was to be put on Sathya Sai social service (’Seva’) and the miracles – unavoidable since they have always been Sai Baba’s main claim to fame – were only to be discussed as to their ‘inner meaning’ for spiritual growth.

From the 1990s onward the Scandinavian countries were instructed by the European Central Coordinator, Mr. Thorbjørn Meyer, to play down all the kind of proclamations that “people would not easily understand”, including the miracles and Sathya Sai Baba’s many claims of being the Divine Avatar come to save humanity and his many other documented ‘fantastic’ statements (read a cross-section of these). Evidently this applies with full force to the many allegations of murder involvement and sexual abuse by Sai Baba which continue to be reported. We have evidence that some devotees today think this is a very clever move on behalf of Sai Baba (and against those of us who want the truth about his deceits to be known). This is how cultist’s reasoning works. Thorbjørn Meyer and his associates in Copenhagen tried to deceive the Mayor ofFredriksberg that they were the Sathya Sai Organization when they tried to buy Arresødal Castle.

However, they were later hounded out by angry demonstrators from the Fredriksberg area! (See here and  here ) This was demonstrated at length in the Danish TV documentary film ‘Seduced’ about Sathya Sai Baba.

As already pointed out on this blog site, the surviving ‘Pink Twin’ Moiya O’Brien, denied on Australian TV that she sees Sai Baba as God. However, she certainly does as she is on record in her book ‘Touched by the Lord’ (!) where she writes, for example on p. 153 “… It was many years before we realised that the God we worshipped in our hearts was here in a form that someone has described as “Vibrating with the essence of all”. But she also admits that she does not tell the clients to the Association she co-founded what she really believes on this, for she wrote:

” We tell people that He is a beautiful, loving spiritual being. We have to be cautious about telling people that He is God.” This is in accordance with the strict instructions of this clandestine cult Sathya Sai organization.

The Sathya Sai Organisation requires all its members to accept that Sathya Sai Baba is God, this being stated clearly in the paper which, in many countries, new members must sign. Those who will not accept this condition are either not allowed to become members or – if already so – are excluded from the Organisation.

Moiya O’Brien’s deceit about the Sathya Sai Organization

In the above video clip, after the sacked manager of SWARA, Kelli Vallis answers interview questions, the surviving ‘Pink Twin’, Moiya O’Brien – the c0-founder of SWARA (Sunshine Remedial and Welfare Association) denies a documented fact, that the Sathya Sai Organization is NOT only a service organization, but a spiritual organization with the structure and activities typical of churches and their hierarchies. As every single member knows, the service activities take up only one of the three ‘wings’ of this fabulous creature… the other two being ’spiritual’ and ‘educational’… in short it is in practice a subordinate third  part of the whole. It is above all a personality cult for worshipping and spreading the name and doctrines of self-appointed World Saviour and God Incarnate, Sathya Sai Baba. Sathya Sai baba has called his teaching the ‘Sai religion’ and permitted use of this term by Central Coordinators. He constantly preaches it as a ‘universal religion’ combining all faith into one ‘essential’ faith, despite his claiming to be the God who created the universe now incarnate in his body!

However, even its official Charter shows that Moiya O’Brien’s claim is untrue… for the Sathya Sai Organization has as a main aim the spiritual instruction of its members, children and visitors (see Charter excerpt below). This is seen in its activities, which are overwhelmingly devotional singing meetings and spiritual-religious study circle. This I can attest from having read countless reports from groups and countries, having attended international meetings and been to been to many different centres and groups in several countries during my 18 years of leadership of the organization in Norway. Further, leaders in the organization were continually given direction from on high that in all public meetings and contacts with the media that we should emphasize the service activities as the main purpose because it was felt that the worship of Sathya Sai Baba as God Incarnate would cause skepticism from society and the official bodies whose endorsement may be necessary for the organization’s status as a tax-protected charity and such reasons. On such a deceptive agenda, Moiya O’Brien has succeeded in obtaining such State funding from Brisbane  authorities beyond all limits.

Sathya Sai Baba’s early years

The elderly grandfather of Sathya Narayana Raju (who took over the name Sai Baba) was a performer, as Prof. Kasturi stated in his official biography (Volume 1 (Satyam,Sivam, Sundaram). Under his guidance, the family troupe performed in villages around Puttaparthi. Prof. N. Kasturi refers to their activities in village dramas and musical groups, which appears to have been their main employment, since no other employment is ever mentioned. We read-

“Because the brothers and the father were all extremely interested in the village operas on the legendary histories of India, and since plays were very often rehearsed at home…” also “He could sing all the songs rehearsed at home for the village operas and mystery plays.”

In his religious and devoted fervour, Prof. N. Kasturi always embellished every fact about Sathya Sai Baba almost beyond recognition. “Village operas” sound nobler than “street performances” while “mystery plays” suggests what is now called ’stage magic’. They were “open air” performances, as Kasturi also makes clear. Though his emphasis is heavily on the religious nature of all this , mentioning that proceeds were distributed to the poor – no secret is made of money being collected. Further, one notable incident Kasturi records proves that not all Sathya’s performances had any religious content. Kasturi report that Sathya imitated and reportedly improved on the gymnastic feat of…

“…a girl dancer whose stage name was Rishyendramani, who performed a series of gymnastic dances with music. Her highlight was a dance in which she kept time to the music while balancing a bottle on her head” “ Sathya’s sisters dressed him as Rishyendraman, complete with hair-do and personal decoration…” and so on.

Kasturi began to investigate Sathya’s childhood and youth only some years after he first met him in 1948. By then, Sathya was 22 years old (though the official school records indicate he was 3 years older) Kasturi gathered stories and based his ‘biography’ of those years almost entirely on hearsay. Those who know the extremely rumour-fulled atmosphere around Sathya Sai Baba, the strongly exaggerated talk and superstitious ideas held about him by uneducated villagers (that is, the great majority of Kasturi’s informants) are aware how blind devotion to Sathya Sai Baba causes suppression of all untoward and unsavoury facts about him. One partial exception to this rule is the book by Smt Vijayakumari (‘Vijayamma’) where she recounts her personal experiences of the young Sathya, herself a blind devotee from childhood.

SWARA’s Sai Baba members believe he is God the Creator

The ultimate in one-upmanship! In the official Sathya Sai Baba biographer’s authenticated autobiography leaves no holds barred as regards who this cult leader claims to be! Devotees who become members of his organization are required to believe his statements and teachings! (See the relevant part of its Charter here) Because of the incredibility of the claim, the Sathya Sai organization always presents itself outwardly as a ’service organization’ and strives to keep that public profile. But it  is really a cover for a proselytizing cult. The recent scandal over the Sai Baba dominated SWARA organization in Brisbane, which has long pulled the wool over government officials’ eyes about their true nature, showed its core cultist nature in forcefully expelling and denying right of speech to members and disabled clients, many of whom oppose the indoctrination by SWARA’s owner, wealthy Moiya O’Brien, and her Sai Baba cult supporters (apparently mainly of Indian origin).

Trying to sidestep the issue, O’Brien lied outright about her beliefs when it was reported the she belongs to a cult, saying:  “That is completely ridiculous. That is not true. The Sai Baba Organisation is not a cult, it is not even a religion. It is a service group.” She also contests disabled clients’ outspoken on camera testimony on the video about the indoctrination which is conducted there… she simply denies it, even though she has actually published what is done in this respect in detail in her book ‘The Touch of the Lord’’. Here are some passages from Chapter Five ‘The Story of SWARA -  Divine Uncertainties, p. 56 which prove her untruthfulness beyond any doubt:-

“We asked Baba in a recent interview if He had a message for all of the SWARA people. He said, “Tell them that I bless them all and I am with them always.” So we passed that on. At SWARA we talk about Baba, so they all know about Him….

…The clients know we go to India to see Sai Baba, and we send them cards of Him and His words. We give an inspirational talk to the whole group every day when we work out our program in the mornings and we often bring Sai Baba into conversations and tell them some of His inspiring words. When we prepare the main room in SWARA for the Thursday night devotional singing for the Brisbane Sai Centre, the clients all help to make the room attractive and they arrange the flowers, etc. When we have our Blue Nurses day, the clients all help to roll up the packages of sweets, tidy the rooms and decorate the hall. They play a very active part in all of that and they know it is a Sai Baba service day – everyone sees Him as a special friend and helper.
We tell people that He is a beautiful, loving spiritual being. We have to be cautious about telling people that He is God.”

The association – run overwhelmingly by Sai Baba devotees -  dismissed professional social worker Kelli Vallis from her post after clients’ diverse and repeated complaints against their administration – forwarded by her – had been sidelined many times and their rights suppressed or ignored, and they took their grievences up in a protest with placards, where they were brutally manhandled. The matter is on-going since it involves a professional wrongly dismissed and more besides.

Kissing the ‘holy feet’ of Sathya Sai Baba

The guru-disciple set-up is a master-servant relationship Practically every so-called devoted Sai-VIP has knelt or lain at the feet of Sathya Sai Baba, and many have kissed them in public. The Sai authorities try to keep images of this to a minimum, as they do not wish to alienate the wider public. During my 9 long visits to his ashrams I have seen very many lie flat at his feet, and many kiss them too. (Incidentally, I never did that – it just seemed so wrong). Sathya Sai Baba did once proclaim that this foot-touching should stop as “everyone is God”, but it continued nonetheless, and he accepts it.

Once a person has taken the step of becoming a disciple, the tradition is that the guru’s words and acts should never be questioned. One may sometimes ask questions about them, obviously, but not in a critical or confrontational way. This is very much the case with Sathya Sai Baba too. He invites people to “come, investigate and examine” but then, once having made up their mind and accepted him as their spiritual master, never to question him again. Of course, no one may not really question, investigate or examine him at all, even though this may have been possible to some mild extent several decades ago.

Sathya Sai Baba discipleship is the same as taking a vow to stop all doubting and refuse to take seriously any criticism of him one may subsequently hear. This is drummed into everyone at his ashrams and meetings “Hear, speak, talk no evil”, but it is only strictly applied in the case of criticism of Sai Baba himself.  Relatively, very few who have been involved for some time seem to care whether their initial decision to worship him as God was based on too little knowledge about him or his real human nature.

This requirement of unquestioning faith – able to withstand every test that fact, reason, observation, testimony and even personal experience without ceasing to believe fully in him is no doubt very convenient for hiding his faults – and he has been widely accused of sexual abuse of young men and boys – at least from his disciples.

Sai Baba’s life is not his message, he now suggests

A statue of the proclaimed Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, stands before the entrance to the main hall of the Gandhi Museum in Old Delhi. The inscription at its foot is “My Life is My Message”.

Sathya Sai Baba has usurped this statement as his own and has blazoned it all over his ashrams… one of his many other arrogant plagiarisms. Now though, the life of Sai Baba is increasingly coming under proper scrutiny and it is not always a pretty sight! The above quotation indicates how badly Sathya Sai baba wants wants to distance himself from his ‘outward manifestations’ in the ‘outside world’ and raise himself to some eternal realm where he can be worshipped as a pure Divinity far above all other human beings. As if ‘worldly’ facts are not true. But how far is his self-proclaimed unending Love – which he says is infinite within him  -  manifested in the “outer world”? He is virtually claiming that his ‘outward manifestations’ are not to be trusted, that is – his life as expressed in the world!  In this duplicity, he affronts the intelligence of the entire world, but he cannot escape the troubles that come of this duplicity and denial even now, let alone in future.

Despite veiled threats, Sathya Sai Baba can’t punish his critics, even if he wanted to – no more than he can stop the world from judging him on his words and actions… both those which are acceptable and good and those which are objectionable and bad. That he is a trickster he may deny, or a homosexual, but the evidence is tangible and massive.

Of course different people have different opinions. Those who have passed the test of believing any denial or fantastic untruth Sai Baba  tells them have deluded opinions, those who have investigated his teachings and his claims very thoroughly and found them wanting have different opinions…. and so on. The excellent comments made by Richard de Mille about the trickster ‘mystic’ Carlos Castaneda exemplify the way in which different people can be taken in by appearances, as people are by all personality cult figures:-

Sathya Sai Organization & the SWARA project

Sathya Sai Baba insists that his followers should never criticize anyone, only themselves. However, the Sai movement distinguishes itself by the total absence of self-criticism in public, or even in its meetings and conferences. Strict internal censorship is the reason why Sai officials and many followers do not respond at all to any challenging criticism. They never admit of any fault whatever in Sathya Sai Baba, nor in anyone or anything to do with him, for their attitudes are tribal and peevish towards outsiders’ differing opinions.

Now, however, the Australian devotee, the surviving ‘Pink Twin’ Moyia O’Brien is much more than peevish… has used heavyweight security people against protesters. This reflects her own mismanagement of the publicly-funded  SWARA (Sunshine Welfare and Remedial Association) service project and deceiving clients including (something she denies, despite the testimony of staff and clients, in the Australian Current Affairs segment) expecting some of the clients to join in with the religious worship activities. During the protest, hired guards included a heavy guard woman with a crew cut who took a semi-running lunge at the group including disabled persons. One of the disabled clients had to be treated, and the police are investigating the incident.

Moyia O’Brien more or less “denied” God  when questioned by the reporter on the Australia Current Affair TV presentation. She followed the well-known internal policy of the Sathya Sai organization,  to suppress the guru’s claims (which they must, as members, believe nonetheless see here) that Sathya Sai Baba is God Incarnate, the Father Who Sent Jesus, the one who sent the Prophet of Allah, and the Supreme Deity of all Deities at whose feet every prayer to any form of God eventually ends up! I have witnessed the considerable efforts of leaders in the Sathya Sai organization to stop zealous devotees from speaking about this in any organized connection, as part of the strict censorship exercised throughout the organization and at the ashrams. That this form of secrecy and denial is so rife among this cult’s leadership is one of many serious anomalies, and hardly makes sense of their and their ‘Lord’s’ constant harping on Truth.

Moyia O’Brien’s deceptions amount to outright lying. This is easily seen from just the  introduction to the book she wrote with her sister called ‘The Touch of the Lord’- written by Howard Murphet, another  deluded Australian Sai devotee:-
“The main theme of the third part deals with how their lives have been changed by their meeting on Earth in human form the loving God they had always worshipped – Avatar Sathya Sai Baba. But what about Jesus the Christ who had guided their lives for over half-a-century? No doubt they feel as do thousands of others including myself that they have not abandoned Jesus but simply met Him in another form; as there is only one God of the universe His appearance as a God-man on Earth twice or more times can only be one God in varying physical forms teaching the same great spiritual truths in varying words and styles to suit the expanding consciousness of mankind.
He always finds the time to talk personally to His ‘Pink Twins’. Thus is strengthened and renewed the inner communion which they have with Him during their daily lives; this must indeed be a great help to them in their busy lives of service.”
