Sai Baba’s hand-washing hypocrisy on display

Sathya Sai Baba claims to be behind all things that happens, so – by the same preposterous claim – he is necessarily to blame for everything that is wrong. Yet he denies this and puts the responsibility for everything that is not good on us in every respect and every instance! This Janus faced teaching, whereby all that is bad is due only to human actions, is typical of his entire behaviour – he holds that is guilty of nothing, never can be. In short, he puts himself above the law and above everyone and everything! Yet his followers cannot see through this duplicity, even after his failings have been demonstrated increasingly and incontrovertibly since around 1999. The un-indoctrinated and the de-programmed devotees can observe how it all functions to increase his status in the eyes of believers and add to his fortune, fame and name at their expense. One would expect God Almighty to be a lot more convincing than this!

None of his megalomaniac assertions are ever properly explained by him. Instead, he continually makes use of his preposterous claims in subtly devious ways to control others. He has inspired and overseen projects in India that are of considerable value to whoever benefits from them, though not by any means always the poor and the suffering, for he is surrounded by embezzlers and fat cats and is reputed to use massive bribery and pay-offs to avoid prosecution. He has through this and his unceasing moralism motivated many people here and there to try to carry out good works in their own countries. This is not in any way unique, however, despite all the portentous talk. His doctrines and messages are no different to those long forwarded by innumerable Indian swamis and gurus. The unoriginality of Sai Baba in these respects is recognised only by those who are astute students of India and its history. We live in a world where good works have every been done selflessly and are still to the fore in millions of people’s daily lives, but this is not a theme Sai Baba takes up, for it is only his own works that he praises. The horrific ills and malefic practices that still rule throughout India he never mentions – let alone dares to confront – such as the existence of 2.2 million child prostitutes as one ‘small example’ [one of his own favourite phrases]. Such is a small example in that it is one of many other such despicable conditions under which the main population suffers, as any objective statistic about India’s calamitous society can prove.

Yet there are those who are either know – or are in a position to know – many of the facts, yet who have long since learned to discount in advance and rationalize everything that is or could be said against Sathya Sai Baba. Every fact must be twisted and turned to fit Sai Baba’s claims, until it becomes second nature and on can no linger think straight – if one has not succeeded in not thinking at all, as Sai Baba recommends most highly! Actually an impossibility, as he [self-contradictorily] even admitted to Hislop once. The reasons for his continuing devotees’ split-mindedness (or in many cases sheer duplicity and ‘double-accounting’) are many and various: powerful mental-emotional bonds that give a sense of security and one can hardly free oneself from, dependency attachments to other members, to prestige and privileges within the cult, to having a flat at the ashram, to cheap living in India, spiritual desperation, continual hope of cures and freedom from sufferings, vague ideas of ‘liberation’ from life itself, and so on… Their lives and psyches are just too involved at so many levels in their fixation on this very personable and powerful gurus for them to be able to listen to, investigate or evaluate facts.

Some ‘small examples’ of such blindfolded acolytes, as I once was before the many negative facts about him began to emerge on a large scale, keep on believing chapter and verse! They have resigned themselves to believe. One can but pity those who accept almost anything they are told to and who have given up the will and ability to distinguish fact and fantasy. Only such persons are qualified to be leaders of Sai Baba institutions (the colleges, the Sathya Sai Organization etc.)
