Sathya Sai Baba’s ‘Soul Brother’, Krishna Kumar

One of the most important inside sources on the untruthful, unreliable and manipulative nature of Sathya Sai Baba, Krishna Kumar, gave a detailed insight into the falsity of a number of the bogus claims and deceptions involved, though he did not reject the so-called ‘materialization’ phenomena as fakery. (See the text by clicking on the thumbnail images to enlarge them). As young men in their twenties, Krishna Kumar and his brother Amarendra Kumar both spent a number of years with Sai Baba. Krishna Kumar as his personal attendant on a day and night basis in the early fifties. Krishna Kumar was declared by Sai Baba to be his ‘soul-brother’ from a previous existence and whom he made sit beside him on the chariot at Guru Purnima celebrations in Puttaparthi. Krishna Kumar shared Sathya Sai’s bedroom for some years until he told the parapsychologist Erlendur Haraldsson during two long interviews in the 1970s that he left the ashram mainly because of Sai Baba’s dishonesty and imperiousness. He moved to Madras, having become a devotee of Christ, which he remained for the rest of his life. He died years before the sex abuse scandals broke on the Internet in 1999.
Sai Baba was not a pure celibate, even in his youth:I have reported what the paranormal psychologist investigator Professor Erlendur Haraldsson was told by Krishna Kumar (now deceased) gave two long interviews to Haraldsson on separate occasions (one of which EH assured me was tape-recorded). Krishna Kumar repeated to him several times that Sathya Sai Baba (i.e. – the supposedly celibate and totally pure Divine Incarnation) was then given to masturbation, which EH accepted as fact and – as a psychologist would – said he considered it only normal.
See my full account of Haraldsson’s views in his mails to me etc. and the excerpt (right side) from a crucial e-mail from him to me:-
Krishna Kumar had shared Sai Baba’s sleeping apartment for over a year and went around everywhere with him holding hands. They were nicknamed ‘Radha and Krishna’ by locals (as reported by ‘Vijayama’ or Smt. Vijaya Kumari. She was with Sathya Sai Baba already in the 1940s when he was in his teens, wrote a book about Krishna Kumar, (‘Other than You refuge there is none’ or Anyatha Saranam Nasthi). One excerpt reads:
“Krishna was very mild-mannered. He was not brisk, but very slow while walking. He was slim and fair, and of a sensitive temperament. Everyone would tease him saying that he should have been born a lady. While walking with him, Swami would stay very close to him. It showed how much Swami liked him. Looking at them both, we would playfully refer to them as Radha and Krishna . We do not know what merit accrued from previous lives it was that gave Krishna the privilege of staying upstairs in the company of Swami. Because Krishna was fond of bed coffee, Swami himself would make sure that the tray with coffee and biscuits was ready, and then wake him up. His meals also were with Swami. Making Krishna sit by His side serving him items from His own plate, Swami would watch over him very affectionately.
Who will have such rare fortune! Once Krishna had to go to Madras on some errand. Swami developed high fever. In His delirium, He would call out’Krishna’. His fever subsided only after Krishna returned. This shows how much God loves His devotees…” (p. 194-5)
