Bill Aitken, bogus ‘religious expert’ on Sai Baba

Posted by robertpriddy on December 31, 2007

Bill Aitken, Sai baba hagiographer
William ‘Bill’ Aitken

Quote - Bill Aitken an expert
Clip from ‘The Week’ magazine – claim that Aitken is an ‘expert

From Brian Steel’s fair and incisive review of Aitken’s book, I conclude that isolation from critical academic environments and Aitken’s path into religious enthusiam has led him away even from elementary methodology and comparative and neutral standards of research and evaluation of religions. That he attacks all critics of Sai Baba as if they were all under one umbrella, incluing Prof. Narendra Nayak (see here ) in such an ill-informed and untruthful manner as he did in ‘The Week’ also reflects very badly on his honesty and general competence.

As Aitken wrote in ‘The Week’: “Recently, Marianne Warren published her Ph.D thesis, Unravelling the Enigma, arguing that since Shirdi Baba was a Sufi, Sathya Sai’s claims to be an incarnation of him are totally misplaced. This illustrates the limitations of the intellect and how the presumptuousness of scholars blinds them to the obvious fact that the mystery of rebirth is not open to proof one way or the other. As in all religious affairs, these things are personal matters and historicity is not as important to the heart as the feeling of oneness the two Sai masters engender. When truly in love the analytical mind is in abeyance.”

Yes, his analytical mind was certainly “in abeyance” before he tried to use it critically and adopted belief plus what he wants to believe is in the driving seat. He seems proud to assert a limited intellect, but some are more limited than others, especially on the issue of whether Shirdi Sai Baba (Sufi-inspired) and Sathya Sai Baba (Hinduism promoter) represent the same teaching (hardly!) or whether it was convenient for Sathya (aka Narayana Raju) to usurp the Sai Baba name and his fame to begin to create his own following.

Sathya Sai Baba’s Christmas message

Posted by robertpriddy on December 24, 2007

Dour Sai Baba and little Santas
Glum look, the spirit of Christmas Past – but no doubt his Spirit of Christmas Present is grimmer

This is the 7th anniversary of Sathya Sai Baba’s message on Christmas Day in 2000. His continued pretence at radiating nothing but love and light broke down completely on that day when he railed against his critics as ‘thousands of Judases’ and slammed his fist down on his lectern in the Prashanthi Nilayam temple (mandir). He lied that his accusers (of serial sexual molestation including rank pedophilia) were acting for money. Of course, he gave no evidence whatever, none exists because it is untrue! (See his damning message and further evidence here) That was how Sathya Sai Baba celebrated the supposed birthday of a person, Jesus of Nazareth, who preached forgiveness and turning the other cheek! But Sathya Sai Baba qualified himself with Untruth, Libel and unrelenting threats to his critics (many shameful rebirths etc.!)

Still the Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, and a long line of ex-PMs and Presidents of India worship this self-proclaimed Hindu Deity of Deities and self-avowed Triple Avatar, Saviour of the Age and the Father who sent Jesus… (though somehow he apparently forgot about being the Holy Ghost Itself!). One can only wonder how much further their reputations will fall if this ever becomes world news! Many of these dignitaries wear cheapo false “diamond” rings given by Sathya Sai Baba (palmed to make it seem they are materialised) and none of them have dared to get them assayed, it would seem. The result would be the same as a number of ex-devotees experienced when they took Sai Baba ‘Diamonds’ to reputable jewellers. Dirt cheap synthetic sapphires, zircons, paiste ‘gems’ with tinfoil behind the encased stones so as to make them much brighter!

In greater need of attracting Westerners, Prashanthi Nilayam’s Hindu Deity, Sathya Sai Baba, has stooped to using massed Santa Clauses – children and youth dressed up in the style of the famous Coca-Cola Santa advert series and cavorting about in tasteless fashion, as numerous long, boring videos from Sai Radio demonstrate. How pathetic!

Sai moon miracle again

Posted by robertpriddy on December 16, 2007

On the ‘Indian Muslims’ website we find the following entry:-
Sai Baba on the Moon

“Submitted by Sai Keet Ong (not verified) on Wed, 11/28/2007 – 07:42
On the 4th of October, Sai Baba told His translator, Prof. Anil Kumar, that He was going to give Vishwa Viraat Roopa Darshan, which means Cosmic Darshan. This has already been carried out, cause television news all around the world concentrated on Sai Baba. That is Vishwa Viraat Roopa Darshan.”

This is typical of the cosmic exaggeration of naive and somehat incoherent Sai followers. Television news around the world has certainly not concentrated on Sai Baba’s moon miracle. On the contrary, news in India concentrated on the total failure of the announced appearance of Sai Baba on the moon. Further, there was no Vishwa Viraat Roopa Darshan whatever – anyone who knows the Bhagavad Gita will understand that such an alleged ‘vision’ has nothing whatever to do with appearing on the face of the moon. The whole thing is truly laughable and has served to awaken thousands to the fraudulence and massive deceits practised by Sathya Sai Baba.
Sai Keet Ong also wrote on a Sai Baba devotee page: “A rudraksha mala manifested from His hand and He put it around my neck. During the course of the meeting, He also manifested a diamond ring for Dorje (the Buddhist name of the young MC for the evening, Sai Keet Ong). It was quite amazing how He manifested these miracles. The audience with Baba lasted about 1 1/2 hours. During this time, He gave much good and beneficial advice to us.”

However, Sai Baba has been shown to use sleight of hand on many occasions, but devotees believe he does miracles before they get an interview, so do not look to see his cheating by misdirection of attention and simple manipulation. Despite this many have detected this fraud. No scientist has ever been allowed to study this phenomenon under fair conditions.
No alleged ‘diamond ring’ ever produced by Sathya Sai baba has been proven by any accredited expert jeweller to contain a diamond. On the contrary, I had a 6 carat size supposed green diamond from Sai Baba in 1986, but a top Danish expert proved it is a synthetic sapphire, worth very little money. Exhaustive information on this can be found on my homepage.

Sai Baba on the Moon videos

Posted by robertpriddy on December 14, 2007 This is a comment by someone with a common sense and a sense of humour! And it has links to two videos of the supposed “moon darshan”:The first one is very ]jumpty’ and there are clearly clouds passing and changing the appearance of the moon. second one claims to be “an analysis” when it is simply subjective ink-blot imaginings: –

I have already shown how quite other faces can just as well be seen – Jimi Hendrix, a serial killer called Tookie Williams, and another face… one can easily see maps of parts of Asian, even India there… and God knows what else.

This is must see stuff… it proves that some people believe anything, see anything hear anything… all according to what they want to see, hear, believe. As if it made any difference other than to fool some poor souls into thinking that Sathya Sai Baba is able actually to influence the moon’s appearance! And to think that India’s ex-President Kalam, Prime Minister Manoman Singh and a whole list of other top Indian Government ministers, judges and still believe in a person who makes such pointless and bogus claims as he did over this according to his closest servitor, Anil Kumar, in a public announcement! Remember the propaganda, Sathya Sai Baba claims outright to be the Creator of the Universe – nothing less than that! It is both laughable and tragic (for India’s reputation).

Long-awaited photo of Sai Baba in the moon

Posted by robertpriddy on December 11, 2007

The following comment was received on one of my blogs:kanikalai | | IP:

Hi folks, inspite of being a devotee did not believe at first when i came to know that swami appeared in the moon. But my brother took photos of the moon on 27′th oct morning at 6:00am. The photo was taken in our apartment terrace using sony digi cam dsc h9 model with 30 x zoom . Will try to upload the photo soon at kani Nov 9, 6:49 PM —

Having waited over 2 weeks for the said photo to appear, it seems there has been a slight hitch? However, maybe kani was affected somehow by my e-mail to him in which I suggested: “Suggest you send the photo to NASA for confirmation first… you don’t want to look like lunatics do you. Better to become world famous for discovering the unprecedented astronomical phenomenen, eh? Remember, the moon is under constant observation by hundreds of telescopes and thousands of serious suporting amateur astronomers. Be sure that your photo will most certainly be given the closest of attention.“

His reply to that was an e-mail without any content at all! One can but wonder why…

Sai Baba in the moon photo?

Congrats. to kani for uploading the long awaited photo, [fortunately I found his message in my spam folder]. See the full posting of his brother’s photo of Baba in the moon (?) below at

Congratulations for having a full-blown blind believer’s perceptive imagination too! So this is how Sai baba looks – when he is far away on the moon, is it? Personality cultists all have their idols – one might expect Jimi Hendrix followers to see him in the above as Sai Baba.Or a thousand others who wear an Afro-frizz…. Jimi Hendrix

there is also S. Tookie Williams – the famous serial murderer – see here:-

S. Tookie Williams

Here is another bit of ‘imagination’ – the profile bust of a Victorian-looking lady – almost like Britannia – can be discerned on the image.
dual photo of moon

By the way, the moon has had those dark areas as long as it has been seen from earth. Nothing new at all. People have been seeing a ‘man in the moon’ in many different guises through history. It’s all in the mind, not in the moon!

Spiritual reason why Sai Baba abuses sexually?

Posted by robertpriddy on December 9, 2007

Always something weird or “wonderful” to report on… this time the weirdo prevails. Perhaps it is of interest to know what the webmaster of one of the worst Quick Topic websites wrote on the UK Psychics webpages of the mercenary ‘psychic’, Craig Hamilton-Parker, to explain the alleged sex abuses of Sathya Sai Baba?
Or maybe not…  but it amounts to nothing less than a justification for the sex abuse of boys and young males! Here is the website logo and Mr. Freestone Wilson:-

UK Psychics logo and Freestone Wilson

However here one can see his perspicuous intellectual ‘spirituality’:-

“My take on this “sex-thing” of baba is…if that baba did this and lets this happen by HIS actions and choice! he wants to, in my opiion, to make very very SURE that no one loves his body-form!
“love, truth, goodness” have no form, shape, or any “thingness” at all, to them!
I believe that baba may even have “given” himself, before birth, the “traits” of this sex-interest, so that after people find out about it, baba will become unpopular and die alone…his ashram near empty of followers, his “name” ruined! millions of people will have had Spirit installed within their hearts, now the Kittens need to be weaned and the training wheels are to come off of the Bycycle!”

UK Psychics posting by Freestone Wilson
Click to enlarge and read the whole posting

Incidentally, it was brought to my attention some months ago that a certain female is writing drivelling and libelous answers (signed in as CO2000) on Freestone Wilson’s Quick Topic web discussion group, assuming or pretending without any proof that I have been posting replies to her under one or more bogus names.  It is not I, but some other person who apparently finds it convenient not to inform her that it is not me. She most likely knows this but it would suit her purpose to post my name – attributing others’ opinions and words to me – and so get Google results. Or else she is living deeper still in her private world of spiritual hallucinations and imagined ‘truths’.  I mailed Freestone Wilson and asked him, by checking my IP, to state that I am not the poster of the mails she attacks so vituperatively on his scurrilous Quick Topic pages, but he did not have the common decency to do so. Taking look at him and his opinions, it may not be so surprising after all!

V.K. Narasimhan on the Sai Baba bedroom murders

Posted by robertpriddy on December 7, 2007

New documentary evidence backs up my testimony on what I was told by this, once among the very closest servitors of Sathya Sai Baba… a former hard-headed top Indian journalist who alone was able openly to challenge some of Sathya Sai Baba’s unrealistic views to his face.
Some of the new document can be viewed here:
How the police executions were forced by Sai Baba’s younger brother, Janakiramiah murders and more…
How V.K. Narasimhan questioned Sai Baba on the murders and was unconvinced by his answers
The circumstances whereby I learned  from VKN of the blackmail by Sai officials and Home Minister’s cover-up
Index over web pages dealing with the 1993 Murders in Sai Baba’s bedroom issue
What Sathya Sai Baba said in his ‘discourse’ so as to mislead about the murders and embezzlements
V.K. Narasimhan’s views on Sai Baba’s wrong views and general ignorance

V.K. Narasimhan and facts about Sathya Sai Baba

Posted by robertpriddy on December 2, 2007

V.K. Narasimhan, an accomplished journalist and former editor of several leading Indian newspapers, followed his very religious wife to settle in Sai Baba ashrams in 1980. I first met him – after corresponding with him – in 1988, whereupon a close friendship began (summarised here). For about a decade, I was more of a believer in many of Sathya Sai Baba’s claims than he was and it was confusing to me that he denied that Sai Baba was omniscient or anything approaching omnipotent, that he was largely ignorant of history and science but simply picked up things from people in interviews (and repeated them to his students or in discourses afterwards, often having misunderstood the details).

That I knew Narasimhan very well and that he confided in me is shown by a new set of postings I have begun (see Priddy’s notes/diary). He eventually told me in private pivotal secret facts about the 1993 murders in Sai Baba’s bedroom which, at the time, I would rather not have had to take on board (see V.K. Narasimhan’s faith-shaking revelations).  I have scanned in excerpts from the many letters I received from VKN  and also provided scans of some of the hundreds of pages of my diaries and notebooks from 9 visits to India with reports on my conversations with VKN and others, which are linked here. Scans of other notebook entries reporting on what V.K. Narasimhan told me will be added later. Many of the facts he told me I have included in my tribute to him, his life and his relationship to Sathya Sai Baba (see here).
