Wise after the events, it appears, a zealous devotee of Sathya Sai Baba called Narayana Shastri presented many predictions about Sathya Sai Baba supposedly found by him among the ancient palm leaf texts of the ‘Suka Nadi’. All these bear the marks of being current descriptions by an observer of the guru (he had already established ashrams, a hospital and a college before the prophecies were made public) , but are not like ancient prophecy in form or terminology. One such was:-
He will be Brahmachari. He will establish Ashrams, educational and medical institutions.
A Brahmachari means a totally celibate person. But he stands widely accused of homosexual activities, and not least by some of his very closest followers, such as Dr. Naresh Bhatia, who told the journalist Mick Brown of the Daily Telegraph that he had been in a sex relationship with Sathya Sai Baba for years and that many, many boys had been sexually used and abused by him, including one under-age boy he personally examined and found anal rape had taken place. Perhaps Sathya Sai Baba interprets ‘brahmachari’ as apparently a fair quite a number of other Indians do, as someone who abstains from sex with females.
