As already shown, Sathya Sai Baba produced many howlers in his pompous Convocation Discourse (22-11-2008) as already shown in earlier blogs here.Here is yet another of his self-contradictory standpoints about ‘Bharatiyas’ (i.e. Indians then and now)… they have forgotten the basic principles and values of their culture, imitating Western culture.
“This land of Bharat has acquired great name and fame for erudite scholarship. This land of Bharat is a divine land, which has produced great intellectuals in the fields of music, art, literature, and various sciences BUT People have forgotten the basic principles of this great culture and are imitating Western culture. The Bharatiyas today are like the elephant, who is unaware of its own strength. With a swish of its tail, an elephant can knock a man off his feet and throw him yards away. Such a powerful elephant will humbly obey the commands of the mahout. It just acts according to the wishes of the mahout. BUT Unfortunately, today the Bharatiyas have forgotton these great values and therefore become slaves in their own country.” (Sathya Sai Baba)
Who is this mahout, one asks. Well, none other than Sathya Sai Baba – in his own imagination – who promised to ‘clean up his backyard’, transform India and then see that the rest of the world is pulled to safety by the Indian locomotive. But this mahout cannot get the elephant even to remember its “basic principles” and “values”.
Why would Indians imitate Western culture, one wonders? There must be a good reason, surely? Many Indians have made huge contributions to modern science and new English literature, and particularly those who have studied according to Western educational values and who promote forward-looking values – not traditional religious puritanism and despotic social systems. They surely left India so as to learn from the highly-developed academic, scientific and engineering experts in foreign lands, like USA, UK and many other nations. Indian achievers will not embrace most of the fallacious ‘teachings’ Sathya Sai Baba gives, especially his abysmal ignorance of sciences, which can be viewed as follows:-
