Click here to go to my account of Swami Ambikananda from Mauritius, who I knew well in the 1970s as a member of his Quintessence ashram. It exemplifies the quandaries involved in following almost any Indian guru. Though Ambikananda taught many of the same precepts that Shirdi Baba, Sathya Sai Baba and their forerunner Ramakrishna Paramahamsa did, he never tried to build up a large following or a money cult, nor was he guilty of the abuse of his follower’s faith or persons through illegal acts.
Note: One reason for my putting this account on-line is also to counteract the vile on-line accusations of one of my mentally-disturbed libellers (Gerald Moreno – deceased since 2010), who claimed that Swami Ambikananda ‘lambasted’ me. The swami never did any such thing to my knowledge as I believe he was too upright to have done so behind my back. That was merely in the twisted imagination of that major defamer of countless critics of Sathya Sai Baba and numerous other gurus, including some convicted of horrendous crimes including multiple rape and murder.
