Apartments in Prashanthi Nilayam and Brindavan

Donors cannot become legal or de facto owners: Donors of large sums for the right to use an apartment at the Prashanthi Nilayam (Puttaparthi) and the Brindavan (Whitefield) ashrams once used to become ‘owners’ – but only in name, not in reality. Usually after some years, by paying an additional fairly moderate sum (by Western standards) they were given the use of a small unfurnished concrete-block flat consisting of one room, a bathroom and a kitchen. The kitchen was the only room they could  lock-up for their possessions while they were not staying  at the ashram. The apartment thus is available for for the rest of the year to any visitor who it is allocated to. The “owner” has no legal paperwork or any legal rights whatever to the property.

The right to be such a so-called  ‘owner’ of an apartment was far from automatic… one had to wait for Sai Baba’s personal blessing for this before being allowed to ‘buy in’… and many waited for years, and some without getting permission even when others ‘behind them’ in the queue did so. The right to use the flat was – and still can – be terminated by the ashram authorities without recourse to any hearing… and this has frequently happened. So the term ‘owner’ is highly misleading and intended to deceive. A more accurate way to say it would be ‘a lease-holder without any rights’. The idea was that Sai Baba granted the grace of tenancy of his property until such time as he saw fit to terminate this, whether due to misdemeanour or for any other reason. The term donor – in the sense of flat donor – does not mean one gets to have one specific room or ‘flat’, but usually gets whatever is free, but there are no guarantees of any kind in this case either. This was a further misappropriation of funds – without advance warning – of the ‘rights’ one was informed one would receive in return for the large donation involved.

God gives and God takes away! Devotees used to see the hard-won tenant’s privilege as major grace from the Lord of the Universe… yes, perhaps as the monopoly contractor and overall owner of the universe! But one can also lose ones flat if ashram officials see their way to accuse you of some breach of the rules set by this rich “God” – for whom they are the main earthly executives. Some devotees have simply had their flats taken away from them for some ‘sin’ in the eyes of those who rule the roost in the accommodation office. In one case of which I know the details from the owner, a man with serious heart problems, the head of accommodation took over his ground floor flat which he had furbished at considerable expense – without any compensation whatever – and it was given to an official of the ashram. He was given temporary flat use on the third floor, to which he could not climb because of his heart condition. No amount of pleading by his sons to ashram officials,  or letters from the Sathya Sai Organization’s UK  leader to Colonel Joga Rao or to Sai Baba etc. had any effect whatsoever.

‘Genital Oiling’ by Sathya Sai Baba + video evidence

Reports about Sathya Sai Baba’s “genital oiling” – which has been established most soundly as factual, even by his defender, Gerald Moreno, will never go away, and they prove that Sathya Sai Baba  broke Indian law in unsolicited sexual interference s of many boys and young men. The actuality of these genital oilings has been admitted by top office-bearing devotees including Thorbjørn Meyer and Steen Piculell plus Sai VIPs, such as Jørgen Trygved – all of Denmark.(link to overview with video evidence)

The instances of several boys was taken by devotees as some kind of ‘re-channeling of sexual energies’ until the full spate of testimonies appeared from 1999 describing how this was often combined with outright sexual abuses including oral and anal sex. It is in this light that all these “oilings” by Sathya Sai Baba cannot be considered as other than sexual grooming for possible sex. This includes, of course, the interference Gerald Joe Moreno has described that he underwent. even though he felt he was being taken notice of for the first time in his life and which gave him a lift of spirits. He has made clear his confusion about the meaning of the oiling he was illegally subjected to (without asking for it or being asked if he wanted it!).

The case of Gerald Joe Moreno: Because Gerald Moreno defends Sai Baba so vehemently, he invites scrutiny of his own accounts, not least since he defended him even while believing him to be a sexual abuser, which is a clear self-indictment showing Moreno’s great confusion or else personal immorality. It does not help his case that he calls me a “pervert”, along with several others who have spoken out, including Reinier van der Sandt and Sanjay Dadlani. That shows his confusion and virulent anger as well as his inability to convince of his subjective and misguided views on the genital oilings. This whole bizarre and unpleasant issue MUST be aired in public, not least since there are many who cannot speak out about this in India without risking much, even assassination (which occurred in 1993 in Sai Baba’s bedroom) and also because all higher office-bearers in the Sathya Sai Organization – and very many ordinary members – have since 2000 been deeply involved in the cover-up of every detail as far as they can manage it.

Account by Sharon Purcell, mother of Sathya Purcell – as recorded by ex-devotee Glen Meloy, which throws light on the issue:-

(In 1993) Sathya Sai Purcell went to India with Hal Honig’s group of boys. One week later, Sharon followed her son to India with her friend, Jill. They got one interview. On that same trip, Sharon told me that Sai Baba had molested 3 of Satch’s friends in private interviews which caused him to tell his Mother he no longer believed in Sai Baba. One of the boys in his group who had his genitals oiled by Sai Baba was Josh Kintz, son of Mahri and Bruce Kintz, long term members of the former Cherry Valley, California Center under the leadership of the late Joy Thomas and now currently active members of the Hemet, California Center.

Another friend, Jed Geyerhahn also shared his molestation experience with Sathya Sai Purcell and as most of you know Jed has also publicly allowed his molestation experiences to be published in Faye and David Bailey’s writings called “The Findings”. There was a third boy in that same group, but we don’t at this moment have his name. All of these victims are now of legal age and no longer considered minors.

As if the molestations were not enough, the infamous shootings at Puttaparthi occurred while Sathya and his Mother were still there and young Sathya remembers vividly having to jump out of the way when they were still sweeping the blood from the temple later that morning. Honig’s group of boys had been allowed to be on the verandah for morning darshan. Unfortunately, Sharon said she mistakingly believed at the time that Sai Baba was merely rechanneling the sexual energies of the boys into spiritual energy and she continued to believe in Sai Baba for 7 more years.

This continued until May 2000 when a close female friend told her a pathetic and tragic story of how her husband had his genitals oiled by Sai Baba in 1968. She told Sharon about all the negative stories concerning Sai Baba on the Internet and  how her husband, who was an intimate friend of Iris and Howard Murphet, had been asked by Sai Baba to go back to the USA to study and get all the necessary credentials and experience to be Baba’s personal airplane pilot.
