“It was said that I have taken up this Form in answer to the prayers of sadhus (noble souls) and others… I have come, because I felt I had to come. I resolved upon this… This campaign will succeed, it will not fail. The welfare of the world will be ensured…” (Sathya Sai Speaks Vol. 3, page 205)
“In conversation with Dr. John Hislop (7/11/1980), Sathya Sai Baba said:-“Were it not for the mind change of Sai devotees the world would already have fallen into complete chaos.” (Conversations with… Sathya Sai Baba by Dr. J. Hislop, p. 190 old ed., page 173 new. ed)
“The whole world will be transformed into Sathya Sai Organisation and Sathya Sai will be installed in the hearts of one and all.” (Sanathana Sarathi, January 1999 – page 16)
You are going to witness the divine glory of Swami unfolding in the days to come. He will attract the whole world. There won’t be place for people to stand even. (Discourse 16 March 2003)
The above claims are unfulfilled and patently unfulfillable. No one in their right mind would be able truly to believe in them. Yet Sai Baba followers still do. Despite that, they are in my experience very often people with good intentions and high ideals (but unfortunately not without plenty of self-seeking persons among them). Whatever their aims, they are certainly in psychological denial about the one the worship and are unable fully to see that he has long since departed from his boasted ideals of truthfulness, purity and trust. The Sathya Sai Organization continues to beaver away trying to raise this idol who has already fallen very badly in the eyes of the world, and will never be accepted by the world’s reasonable and educated people – who are not indoctrinated as his devotees. Their efforts will are about as futile as those of the countless followers through the decades of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, with his failed attempts to eliminate crime through mantra chanting and even to take over whole countries. They are fading away, also struck down by revelations of his bogus nature and false claims. Maharishi’s promotion of ‘yogic flying’ – a ridiculous spectacle – was itself just about enough to put an end to the entire ambitions of that movement. Sathya Sai Baba has promoted far, far more absurd ideas… so he too is inevitably bound to end on the rubbish heap of broken promises and bizarre history. Take a handful more of his claims:
1) that he ‘materialized’ a three ton gold lingam from his stomach (when the BBC film showed only water coming from his mouth) See here plus video clip
2) that he will lift a range of mountains in the manner of Krishna who, in mythology, lifted a mountain to protect his devotees see Sai Baba prophesies he will lift “a whole range of mountains”!
3) that he will have to forsake even the aeroplane and fly unaided through the sky to appear to all his devotees see Sai Baba soon to fly unaided in the sky?
These are some of the most obvious megalomaniac claims, but he has made hundreds more. How can such a person expect to be taken seriously by more than deluded persons and the lunatic fringe in this modern age of education, science and technology? One can rest assured that the above claims alone have secured his insignificance as a religious figure in the coming era.
