Sathya Sai Baba and India’s nuclear arsenal

Sai Baba has repeatedly condemned both the possession of atomic weapons and those countries which develop them, calling their leaders ‘moral dwarves’ and saying that only those countries which produce them will suffer from them (that was before India’s exploded its first nuclear device). Despite this, the man who developed the first rocket delivery vehicle for nuclear weapons, India’s recent President, A.J.P. Kalam, was the guest of honour at his 81st birthday celebrations in Puttaparthi. See what Sai Baba has said through the years, and how it clashes with his support of militaristic Indian Prime Ministers and presidents, including the present P.M. Manmohan Singh
Were Sathya Sai Baba really a man of peace and non-violence in act instead of just words, he would have given both Prime Ministers and Presidents who presided over the nuclear arming of India a forceful public ticking off, demanding that they stop the madness. But Sai Baba is dependent on these tricky politicians who worship his feet for his protection from litigation, as events proved when the Supreme Court threw out a petition by Hari Sampath against Sai Baba on a mere technicality. Justice Bhagwati (Bhagawati) is a very deeply involved crony of Sai Baba, and ruled over the Supreme Court, where Sai Baba has many devotees among judges and staff.
Sathya Sai Baba was in his rooms when his two attendants were killed whereupon he was warned by an attendant’s shouts:-
Union Home Minister S.B. Chavan during his recent visit to Puttaparthi told newsmen that Baba came out from his chamber on hearing some commotion on the ground floor. He scolded the persons creating noise and returned to his room… (Indian Express, New Delhi 13-6-1993)
Note: It is established that Sai Baba soon fled his rooms through a rear door, locking it from the outside so as to stop the intruders following him, and they were eventually completely trapped in his apartment and murdered in cold blood with a hail of dozens of bullets by police while Sai Baba stood by.
