Sathya Sai Baba Deceptions Exposed

Sathya Sai Baba condemns his critics as “demons”

from Sathya Sai Baba’s angry, pulpit-beating ‘discourse’ on (but in the spirit of?) Christmas Day, 2000.

The inset image is a scan of part of Sathya Sai Baba’s official journal Sanathana Sarathi with an excerpt from his infamous Christmas Discourse, 2000. Those who regard him as an ‘apostle of love for every living being’, and as ‘a friend in India to all the world’ (Keith Bradsher) should examine what he says in some detail.

The accusatory discourse had an effect on me at the time since I was considering whether to look at the allegations or not. “Today many people are jealous of Sai” and “neither will the undertake any good activities themselves” he said. I never was (and am definitely not now) in the least jealous of Sai Baba or anyone else, and I worked hard doing many kinds of social service in his Organization for 18 years, also donating large sums of money… and the same applied to many I knew who soon left him. I decided to investigate the criticisms at last and soon began to draw some unexpected conclusions about him.

In calling his critics “demons” he made a complete break with all his previous soft talk about love and the divine spark in every living being (which he suddenly denies to his critics, the many young men who testified to being sexually abused by him). This discourse helped convince me that I had to investigate and begin to look much more carefully – even critically – at the evidence. His wild, unfounded accusations also helped me realise the sham that his teaching really is. It took me months, but once the spell was broken, I progressed further and further to discover how I had gradually become deeply affected by subtle and powerful self-programming and rejection of doubts and ‘unkind thoughts’ (especially about Sai Baba himself!) through the entire indoctrination Sai Baba promotes. He had previously stated that “none are free from the taint of evil” (Sathya Sai Speaks Vol 3., p4). At the same time, yet more confusedly, he has sometimes also denied that anyone is either good or bad… or that good and bad even exists at all. Those who have thoroughly investigated the teachings of Sathya Sai Baba realize how he has deceived his followers about his true nature and actual behaviour. His actions belie his words and so he cannot even be a reliable spiritual guide, let alone a divine, omni-benevolent and omniscient Godhead! He evidently hoped his adharmic (i.e. unrighteous) actions would be covered-up, and huge efforts were and are being made by his minions and supporters to do just that!

The record to date shows, however, that Sathya Sai Baba’s self-described “glory” has not “gone on increasing day by day”. It has diminished in the eyes of the world (foreign devotees have dropped away in huge droves) and he is a wheelchair-bound invalid who very seldom smiles and who is actually reported by close servitors as crying much of the day! (and see video clip here)

Among the elite of Indian politics, many worship Sathya Sai Baba. One small example: in an article in the International Herald Tribune, the Indian pundit Shashi Tharoor actually endorsed Sathya Sai Baba as a genuine miracle maker and virtually all-knowing person – see more here.

Scan from book by Professor N. Kasturi about Sathya Sai Baba

The gullible, uncritical official biographer of Sathya Sai Baba, Professor N. Kasturi, shows how total was his delusion.

Consider this claim – reported by Kasturi – of Sai Baba to have created every one of us… it makes Sashi Tharoor’s  look extremely gullible in his support for him, in company with PM Manmohan Singh, President Pratibha Patil and a host of other top figures in the government, judiciary and Indian society. That relatively simple sleight-of-hand (clever misdirection of attention being central to this) can fool otherwise observant people is no unusual matter.

In his Xmas rant, Sai Baba’s identification of himself with the Jesus story is preposterous (he claims to be the Father who sent Jesus to earth!), shown by his branding his critics as ‘Judases’. At that time I was a follower still, but I soon joined up with those upright and brave people who dares to speak out against this person who has even presided over and covered up murders and executions in his own bedroom. Not exactly an “unshakeable resolve to serve humanity”, one might say! Besides, he evidently had the common incorrect about Judas and the ‘ten pieces of silver’, which much new research shows was not at all as it has been presented. The money was simply a standard exchange at the time, Judas having not betrayed Jesus in fact, but reportedly negotiated with the Romans on Jesus’ request. So much for Sai Baba’s much trumpeted “omniscience”… a man who even pronounced that Moses loved Jesus!
