Sathya Sai Baba 85th Birthday: state of India

Posted by robertpriddy on November 21, 2010

Quotation of prediction made by Sathya Sai Baba to John Hislop

On his supposed 85’th Birthday, Sathya Sai Baba’s claims about how his life mission would unfold can well be examined and evaluated. The total transformation of India as an engine, not only of economic growth, but also as a shining moral example to the peoples of the world which would regenerate them all and introduce a new Golden Age has frequently been promised by Sathya Sai Baba. He has long since pronounced that his own students would transform morals in the nation (see quotation below left), but this prediction has failed most miserably. One absolute precondition of India entering the good company of law-abiding, morally accountable societies is that the endemic corruption should cease, at the higher levels of society at the very least. No nation can lead another if immorality like tax evasion predominates in finance and business. That it does so in India most certainly cannot seriously be refuted:-

From BBC World ‘The Hub’ with Nik Gowing – 18 November 2010:-

BBC World 'The Hub' Nik Gowing interviews Dev Kar, former IMF economist and Washington think tank expert for Global Financial IntegrityIndia has lost hundreds of billions of dollars through corruption since Independence in 1948. That’s according to a report from a Washington think tank. It is called Global Financial Integrity. It monitors the flow of illegal money worldwide. It says India has lost an average of US$19 billion worth of assets per year between 2004 and 2008.
Joining us live from Washington is one of the report authors, Dev Kar, a former IMF economist:-
Nik Gowing: Dev Kar, where does the money go or where has it gone?
Dev Kar: Most of the money goes to the banks in developed countries like the United States, the United Kingdom and a large part goes to offshore financial centres around the world, such as Cayman Islands, Singapore…
Nik Gowing: Is the central accusation here one of money laundering or is it just bad accounting?
Dev Kar: It is basically money laundering and tax evasion on the part of individuals and corporations in India.
Nik Gowing: There is a difference between tax evasion and tax avoidance – one is legal, one is not… which of the two are you saying it is?
Dev Kar: Tax avoidance is legal but tax evasion is not. So it is tax evasion and not tax avoidance.
Nik Gowing: Is it possible to track the degree or the tempo with which this has been happening since Independence. Can you peg it to a particular government, a particular prime minister?
Dev Kar: No. It is not possible to do that with any degree of accuracy. All we can say is that, from 1948 to 2008 there has been a on-going problem and the problem has been increasing, unfortunately, after economic reform started in 1991, because we can see the faster growth of these transfers after 1991.
Nik Gowing: Are you saying that you have proof to back up your claims, or are they simply allegations?
Dev Kar: No, there is proof to back up these numbers. The strongest such proof is looking at the deposit statistics compiled by the Bank for International Settlements in Switzerland. These are basically private sector deposits in banks and offshore centres. Now, we know these private sector deposits are mostly illegal because exchange control regulations do not allow private individuals in India or corporations to stash away foreign exchange in that jurisdiction without permission of the Government of India.

Conversations with Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba - excerpt

The famously unfulfilled 'promise' prediction

No doubt how much faith Sai Baba put in his students - but so far without known true national achievements

The majority of top political and other prominent figures stash away their gains in foreign currencies in Swiss and diverse offshore banks – evading tax. Sathya Sai Baba pointed this fact out to a former friend of mine, an Indian Administrative Service officer at a private dinner given in 1996 by Mr. Prasad, one of the board members of the Sathya Sai Central Trust. There he told the IAS official, V. Ramnath, that India is not really a poor country, but for its rulers stashing away in Swiss banks an amount of money at least equal to the country’s entire national debt! Ramnath related that Sai Baba said he had warned the Prime Minister and the President (then Narasimha Rao and Dayal Sharma) of this and had instructed them not to make so many super-expensive state visits with huge convoys of vehicles and hundreds of Black Beret commandos wherever they went. But, said Sai Baba, they go on doing it and do not listen to me. So much for the results of the self-appointed renewer of moral values in Indian life!

If Sai Baba really were anything like a world saviour avatar controlling the planet, how could it result in such a pig’s breakfast? India is one of the most truly terrible places on earth for its huge number of children in the slavery of prostitution, bonded sweat-shop labour, and its vast number of paupers and illiterates still being driven to city slums for sheer survival. These calamities are enormous and are not diminishing.

The endemic nature of Indian corruption:
India’s social structure where caste and extended families are the key components of life have led to the culture of nest-feathering by politicians and public officials to an unprecedented degree. Sathya Sai Baba has complained of nest-feathering to numerous politicians, including Prime Ministers and Presidents who worship him, but without any visible result whatever. This shows how, despite all his boasts, he has had no effect at all on improving the very fundamentals of life in India.  Once a man gets elected to an office, the entire extended family expects benefits – whether direct financial contributions or, as often as not, the use of influence to improve their  employment status or business opportunities.

A distorted ‘vision of Sai’ was sent us in an e-mail from visionsb@tstt.net.tt as follows,
…see for yourself the enormous control that this being has on the planet”. Of course, the overwhelming majority of people on the planet has not noticed any such huge influence. He has inspired some people to start schools, pay for projects to provide water locally in Andhra Pradesh and to finance two hospitals etc. But these are as drops in the vast ocean of India’s calamitous situation, let alone that of the whole world!

“Sai Rules the World” Unbelievable to most, this is what many devotees I have met actually believe, because Sathya Sai Baba has put this delusion about in various announcements he has made about the world coming to his feet, the world soon already becoming one big Sathya Sai Organisation and all becoming transformed:-

“Very soon, the entire world will be united. In fact, after 28 years, the world itself will become “Bharat”. Everyone will call themself a Bharatiya (one imbued with godliness — Bhagavat rathas). No one will refer to themself as belonging to this state or that state, this region or that region. You may go to any country, but you refer to yourself as belonging to the country of Bharat. For example, there may be Karnataka State or Tamil Nadu State, etc., but, they are all parts of a larger country called Bharat. Without the country, the States cannot exist. You are all Bharatiyas first and last. Hence, you say that you came from Bharat. (from Sathya Sai Baba’s Convocation Discourse 22-11-2008 at http://www.sathyasai.org/discour/2008/d081122.html)

This statement confirms what was reported earlier by Barry Pittard ‘World Hindu’ by 2030. VHP’s Singhal Reports Sathya Sai Baba Told Him

With population and poverty out of control, AIDS, corruption and poverty ruling large parts of Africa and Asia and so on. The world’s wilderness environment and countless species and living resources are disappearing faster and faster, suffering and unnecessary death is as rife as ever, I watched Sathya Sai Baba parading for two decades and I eventually learned from many inside contacts, investigation and analysis that he is far from being in control of almost anything he claims to be. He is most certainly not in control of yours truly!

The Golden Age of Sai Baba

Posted by robertpriddy on November 21, 2010

'Golden Age' - publication dedicated by The Kingdon of Sathya Sai, 1997Sathya Sai Baba has declared that He will usher in a new era of Love, Peace, Righteousness, and Truth. This “Golden Age,” as He calls it, is destined to begin soon with an event (or series of events) that will draw world attention to His Divinity.
Sai Baba has several times jumped the gun and heralded in “The Golden Age” of mankind. He supposes himself to be the precursor of such an age, and – as often documented – it will begin by his reforming India completely first, then the rest of the world. Sai Baba has told people on occasion that a great shift in human consciousness will come – he did so before the millennium (but nothing happened, not even the millennium bug – thereafter Twin Towers and the war on terror began).

Professor Paul Holbach has written of the predicted Golden Age of Sai Baba here:-

“This is a great chance. Be confident that you will all be liberated. Know that you are saved. Many hesitate to believe that things will improve, that life will be happy for all and full of joy, and that the golden age will recur. Let me assure you that this dharmaswarupa, that this divine body, has not come in vain. It will succeed in averting the crisis that has come upon humanity. “( from  speech 23 Nov. 1968)

Mankind can and will be saved.” (Christmas Message, 1986)
“I have come to inscribe a golden chapter in the history of humanity.” (12th May 1968 see)
Sai has come … to achieve the supreme task of uplifting the entire mankind, as one family through the bond of brotherhood… ” (1999)
Thus, his mission seems to be a “salvation mission” for ALL MANKIND, no one excluded; the world in its globality would have to be saved and raised to an upper level. And he started promising this almost in 1947… and SB clearly has not fulfilled any of his forecastings and promises. Anyway, like already elsewhere, SB starts to take distances from himself; first he builds the “castle in air” of the “Golden Age”, then he says:
“The Golden Age is the creation of man, not of God.” (1987)
“The transition from that unhappy state to the state of bliss cannot be achieved overnight, but the changes have begun and the seeds are sown. Man is living at the dawn of a Golden Age and he himself will determine the timing of the transition by his own acts and thoughts. ” (1988)
“The time has indeed come for a great awakening, when the days of ignorance and illusion are replaced by a new Golden Age. That Golden Age is here now, just waiting for man to move into it and find the peace that has eluded him all this time.” (1988)

We also read Sai Baba’s own “Revelations” in line with such fundamentalists as the Seventh Day Adventists, Jehovah’s Witnesses and diverse other god-bothering sects and cults of the “Flee the wrath to come” persuasion:-
The day of awakening is here and the day of reckoning, or weeding out, is not far away. The cleansing of the world will take place and only those awakened souls will be left to experience life in the divine state. Others will fall by the wayside, left behind and lost in a world of illusion and darkness.” (Christmas (II) [1987],” SMFYM, II, 1988, 63 see here)

Suffering and misery are the inescapable acts of the cosmic drama. God does not decree these calamities but man invites them by way of retribution for his own evil deeds. This is corrective punishment which induces mankind to give up the wrong path and return to the right path so that he may experience the godlike condition of sat-chit-ananda — that is, an existence of wisdom and bliss.” (Baba in 1976 in SM, 1985, 245.)

In January 1992, a long-term US devotee, Connie Shaw, was at an interview with SB where she asked:-

Connie: Then what about the Golden Age (of Peace and Plenty which will last for a thousand years) – when will that actually be here?

Baba (Predictably, heh-heh): The Golden Age must begin in each person’s heart. Then only can we have peace on earth. Each must start now to make the Golden Age in his heart.

Connie: But Swami, we’re all doing the best we can in that (department) now. I mean when will (all of) humanity agree “This is the Golden Age – here, now…?

Baba: In five years. 2007. By then. All must do (their part).”

Sai Baba’s boast to Dr. John Hislop that India is the locomotive that will pull the world to rights due to its spiritual and moral superiority has, of course, most dismally failed to appear. That his students would occupy positions of power long since and thus change society has also proved to be sonorously hollow words.
