Prashanthi Nilayam and environs struggle to attract visitors

Posted by robertpriddy on May 27, 2011

IBNLive reports:-
The Sathya Sai Central Trust hope to attract visitors again by installing a ‘mahasamadhi’. The demise of Sri Sathya Sai Baba is an irreparable loss to Puttaparthi, which used to attract a large number of devotees from all parts of the country and abroad when Baba was alive. The volume of business activity in the pilgrim town has come down after the demise of Sathya Sai Baba. The number of foreign devotees visiting Puttaparti has also declined.  The real estate business is the worst affected as the value of land has slumped. The situation is likely to be changed after the construction of Mahasamadhi.
The Central Trust which faced several allegations after the demise of Sri Sathya Sai Baba, is striving to win the faith of devotees by proving that all the charges made against it are baseless.

They would, wouldn’t they! Trouble is, once one had begun to cover-up and deceive, it becomes harder and harder as more and more deceptions and lies are spun to justify the earlier ones… the whole thing has already become a huge network of propaganda, disinformation, secrecy and cover-up of all corruption, embezzlement and other untoward and crimes. This has been documented on a large scale already here, and by Barry Pittard, and many others.

Sathya Sai Baba reckoned in calendar years, not ‘lunar years’

Posted by robertpriddy on May 27, 2011

In attempts to save Sathya Sai Baba’s death prediction from ridicule, the Sathya Sai authorities have been claiming that he reckoned his age in lunar years, not calendar years. However, Sathya Sai Baba certainly reckoned in calendar years, which is evident from the following quotes from his published discourses. One can speak meaningfully of lunar months, as shorter than calendar months… but not strictly meaningfully of a ‘lunar year’ because a year is a measure of the time the earth (with its moon) takes to circle the sun. The year cannot be affected by lunar cycles in any way… but Indian shastris like to operate with ‘lunar years’. These have to be corrected every 6 years by the addition of an extra month (to bring the lunar year into some correspondence with the true solar year. The matter is involved, so ordinary devotees, such as Indian villagers or illiterate persons, easily get confused by the arithmetic and prefer to accept what they wish to believe anyhow.

There are no published discourses anywhere where he used any system of calculation based on ‘lunar’ months or years. (Despite this, some claimed that what he said at his 80’th birthday that he was 90 year of age that day supports their ‘lunar’ theory. It is not verifiable in print anywhere. The following quotes are self-explanatory:-

“I will be in this mortal form for 59 years more and I shall certainly achieve the purpose of this avatar, do not doubt it.” (Discourse 29.09.1960) [1960 + 59 = 2019]

” I shall be in this body for 58 years more, I have assured you of this already.” (Discourse 21.10.1961) [1961 + 58 = 2019]

“As the world goes, at the age of 60, the physique becomes weak and the mind loses its alertness. But I skip along as fresh and active as ever.” (Discourse 23.11.1985) [1985 – 1926 = 59]

” The advent (of this avatar) took place 64 years ago.” (Discourse 23.11.1990) [1990 – 1926 = 64]

“This body is now 67 years.” (Discourse 3.07.1993) [1993 – 1926 = 67]

“The body (of Swami) will enter its 70th year on 23rd.” (Discourse 17.11.1995) [1995 – 1926 = 69]

“I am 73 years. My legs, hands, eyes are in perfect condition.” (Discourse 24.11.1998) [1998 – 1926 = 72]

“Today marks the 75th year of the Advent of this body.” (Discourse 23.11.2000) [2000 – 1926 = 74]

On 25.12.1979, Sathya Sai Baba said of Jesus that “he was born at 3-15 a.m. (early morning) on December 28, 1980 years ago” (Sathya Sai Speaks, Vol.24, p.288)
All the above quotes involve only calendar year reckoning.

THIS WAS A REALLY USEFUL COMMENT ON CHAKRA.COM PAGES

As officially reported, Sathya Sai Baba passed away on 24th April 2011. [2011 – 1926 = 85] Note that none of the various fanciful calculations of the number of “lunar years” that have been presented can produce a result that concurs with either of Sai Baba’s two entirely different predictions of when he would die. The concept of a ‘lunar year’ was challenged as invalid by a devotee! Thank goodness there are some clear-headed and honest ones among them. However, some Hindu calendars do operate with the idea of a lunar year, though it is obscure and Sai Baba has never said he spoke in terms of lunar years. Had he done so he should have celebrated his birthdays on entirely different dates. His 85th birthday would then have been somewhere around 94, but he never did that once.

Several analyses proving this are found here:-

Controversy on Sathya Sai Baba’s suspicious death

A person calling himself Dhanashen (another ever-anonymous Sai Baba poster who attacks me) made a long posting on chakranews.com part of which I include here because it shows the very weak and inconclusive hints he and other supporters of the unworkable lunar year calculation consider definitive proof.

The cited passage simply refers to the use of the standard world calendar rather than ‘the’ Hindu calendar. The Hindu calendar has undergone many changes since its beginnings and there are several versions of it. No version of it allows a calculation that amount to either 92 or 96 years, as has been shown well enough in the above links.

Point 2) is yet most obscurely made. “The Lord of 1000 moons” has been cited by Dhanashen (alone) since the calendar issue arose… but has never been recorded in any media before. Until otherwise proven, I consider it a contrivance to try to confuse people into thinking that Sathya Sai Baba – who never mentions 1000 moons in his published discourses –  was somehow referring to the lunar calendar when he said he would live 59 years more. It simply does not fit however one twists and turns it! One can only conclude that those who continue to claim that SSB lived for 96 years (or 92 years) remain in denial of everything that has been proven that is negative for Sai Baba. They have put all their faith, hopes of divine assistance, even their personal prestige (and who knows what else, money, position, ashram privileges, work, businesses…?) into Sai Baba being not just a God, but the Godhead Incarnate… and now comes the crisis, the ‘last straw’ – he died weeping for help and did not fulfil his predictions of how long he’d live. Not to mention all the other prophesies that have already failed;-
