Indian educational authorities still endorse Sathya Sai Baba misinformation

Posted by robertpriddy on August 14, 2011

Due to sheer political influence rather than any hint of excellence of the Sathya Sai educational colleges, the Indian Government gave them subsidies and raised the status of his ‘deemed university’ to full official status, despite it being of such a low educational level that graduates could not think outside the mental learn-by-rote boxes – nor were they allowed to expose the many fallacious and ignorant ‘teachings’ of Sai Baba that were part of their daily fare. As one might expect, the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning is not even ranked anywhere on any list of world university rankings, despite the intensive attempts to publicise it as a top centre of learning, with devotees posting halleluja statements about it, including on a Wikipedia page! The famous former editor of Sai Baba’s journal, V.K. Narasimhan, told me how appalling was the method and standard of education there, because most students who obtained Ph. D. degrees there were incapable of any informed discussion of questions other than by repeating what they had learned.

Sathya Sai Baba lived in Andhra Pradesh – and it was hit very hard by the 2004 tsunami. The great disaster that devastated countries around the Indian ocean was dealt with by Sathya Sai Baba succinctly. It was retribution against us (humans) for our bad conduct! Her is just one example taken from a host of others of what he pompously called “Saience”-  as the antidote to  “science” and what he deemed its misguided ‘materialism’:-

Many natural calamities are entirely due to man’s behaviour. Earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, wars, floods and famines and other calamities are the result of grave disorders in Nature. These disorders are traceable to man’s conduct.” p. 290, Sanathana Sarathi, December -1992 & p. 375 – Sathya Sai Speaks, Vol. 25.

Nature is causing various disasters such as earthquakes, famines, floods and volcanic eruptions. What is the reason? The spiritual lapses of man account for these calamities.” p. 11, Sanathana Sarathi, Nov. 1993. – or – p. 342 – Sathya Sai Speaks, Vol. 27

So natural causes are themselves casually affected by humans? He further implied that those who are hit hardest are those most guilty of spiritual lapses! It is all the fault of ‘man’. This is hardly helpful to poor peasants or even his cringing servitors. No one with a smattering of education can rationalise it like that.  Now wars – and the economic exploitation that cause pollution, deforestation, or global warming may (if with some difficulties) be attributed partly to ‘spiritual lapses’ on behalf of humanity. But tsunamis, volcanic eruptions?  Major earthquake calamities took place for millions of years before and during humanity’s emergence and are known to be caused by the regular releases through aeons of vast pressures built up in the gradually-moving continental tectonic plates.

Conny Larsson’s  Swedish book ‘Bakom Clownens Mask’ has already been translated into English – as well as German and Estonian – and is now is also available in Dutch:

How difficult is it to live as a sensitive artist when in social environments that ultimately turn out to be one of cunning lies and deceit? Conny  Larsson is the author of this very personal and psychological drama with exotic overtones which gives us an excellent understanding this through the bogus spiritual Sai Baba cult he left. At the same time his story is relevant to those who need to learn self-help, find their true selves and not just accept the moral and ethical decline of truth, justice, nonviolence, peace and love.  Conny has dedicated this book as follows:-

To all of You who during the last five years have kept me going, when I have fallen into the deep valleys of memory, I wish to express my profound gratitude. To those of You who have tried to make me give up and keep silent, to those who are in denial, I direct my particular gratitude for, paradoxically, You roused my inner strength to fight against untruth and injustice. To the prisoners in Wiezhowo Prison I turn with even deeper gratitude, as they taught me to value the freedom of which they themselves were deprived. They finally enabled me to leave my self-imposed prison, my sect.

With a preface by Rigmor Robert – physician and psychotherapist – respected nationally in Sweden as prominent in exposing the Jehovas Witness Cult in Sweden and also the Swedish Pentecostial Church (Pingskyrkan org.) in Knutby, Sweden, 2004
