Biggest earning Bollywood film exposes blind belief in ‘godmen’

The guru-busting Bollywood major blockbuster ‘PK’ is reportedly a very amusing film, as well as further educating the Indian public about the bogus nature of most Indian ‘godmen’. This is a major step forward in the campaign against false religion as purveyed by hundreds of swami charlatans and criminal exploiters of vulnerable people. That it has hit the nail on the head is evidenced by the reactions of right-wing Hindu interests, spurred no doubt by the very super-rich frauds who have promoted themselves as holy or divine ‘gurus’. They have incited mobs to rampage against the film, but this only shows the world the emptiness of their talk of non-violence and their fanatical religious hypocrisy.

“Bollywood and young India Tuesday passionately defended Aamir Khan-starrer “PK” even as Hindu rightwing groups continued their protests alleging that it defamed Hindu religion. Producers, directors and actors as well as movie buffs IANS spoke to were unanimous that the Hindi film no way hurt Hindu interests and that the protests were unacceptable as it had cleared the censors. But the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) reiterated its demand that the film, one of the biggest hits from Bollywood, be banned or at least what it said were the offending parts be deleted immediately.” Arya Samaj leader Swami Agnivesh in fact demanded that the movie be made tax free. Agnivesh told IANS: “I found this film brilliant. It raises a fundamental debate on the true nature of any religion and their concept of god, the creator… The questions are very profound. The whole controversy is … by those who feel threatened.” IBNlive report (December 31, 2014)

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan’s latest release ‘PK’ became Bollywood’s highest grossing film of all time in India. PK collected more than Rs. 276 crore in two weeks of its release. Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, ‘PK’ revolves around the concept of blind belief and Godmen. The movie has got its share of criticism from few religious groups who demanded its ban. The film had an impressive opening, but the recent controversies had affected its collection in the last couple of days. Religious groups went on a rampage in places like Ahmedabad and Bhopal, smashing theatres that were screening the film and demanded a ban on ‘PK’. In Agra, protesters accused Aamir Khan of double standards and suggested the actor move to Pakistan. Indian Express report (January 2, 2015)
