Sathya Sai Baba Birthday – 91st year

In Australia, where the once numerous following is now drastically reduced and becoming predominantly more Indian and less Australian etc. the 91st “Birthday” (ridiculously so-called – actually being the 5th year of his death) is to be celebrated under a slogan that is often used – empty words based on a feeling, not on real unity of actions and words. The official website states:
“We Are One” is the theme for the celebrations of the 91st advent year of Sathya Sai Baba by the combined Victorian Regions East & West this year. The program includes a SSE children’s choir, devotional singing and much more to create an atmosphere of Oneness.
By the “atmosphere of Oneness” they apparently would create a sense of togetherness (for the formal parochial unity of two groupings) and no doubt exhibiting that cloying ‘divine spirituality’ where everyone pretends to be righteous, chosen and blessed, as claustrophobic as the worst of enforced celebrations at Prashanthi Nilayam in days long gone by. Meanwhile the entire Sai Baba movement has been riven into warring sub-cults with no semblance of unity whatever.
The unofficial ‘Sai Baba of India’ web site is still celebrating as follows: Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s 89th Birthday Seems they have simply given up in the face of mass defections and the large Muddenahalli breakaway cult, which is run by the subtle body of Sathya Sai Baba speaking and acting through one of his former sex partners, the ex-student ‘oracle boy’ Madhu Sudana.
