Blowing life briefly into Puttaparthi’s corpse?

Posted by robertpriddy on November 25, 2017

Among the various parties interested in the competition between various factions struggling to capitalise on the Sathya Sai Baba ‘reputation’, the following came from an independent person working in Puttaparthi. It is made credible by the article which appeared shortly afterwards in a news outlet entitled ‘Lifeless Puttparthi Comes Alive’ (see below).

“I had a chat with a long time Accountant in Puttaparthi and he was saying how a LOT of things have changed here: “many things have happened” since SB (sathya sai baba) was dead and buried. He said that the majority of people here aren’t devotees, though they don’t speak out. They pretend to be devoted for their own gain. He said the Trust has pretty much lost their power and SB’s family members are just like ghosts, not doing any work but just aimlessly wandering about. Even SB’s inheritor, his nephew Ratnakar, only has influence on a few in the town. He also said that a huge number of people are flocking to the “oracle boy” in Muddenahalli. A number of ashram workers have started to have faith in him and sb’s ashram will no longer let those people in the ashram gates. In fact anyone who is known to go to Muddenahalli will be “encouraged” not to come into Prasanthi Nilayam any more.”

Lifeless Puttaparthi comes alive  THE HANS INDIA | Nov 24,2017

Puttaparthi (Anantapur): The otherwise lifeless Puttaparthi town sans the physical absence of Sathya Sai Baba is now teeming with life, thanks to the week-long birth anniversary celebrations of the Sai Baba. Traders and business houses, who made the town their abode for several decades are languishing in a sense of resignation as the devotees have a feeling that the soul of Puttaparthi is missing.

We always thought that Baba is eternal, and he would live for ever. His sudden sickness and admission in the hospital had woken us up to the reality that Baba after all is in flesh and blood and that death was inevitable, he stated. Many traders are bemoaning that once the celebrations come to an end and devotees return to their native places, once again the town gets reduced to a desolate town.

Devotees say that this was not the case when Baba lived and was a resident in Prashanthi Nilayam. Every day was like a birthday of Baba as the town was flooded with devotees, who used to descend from the world over. Hundreds of foreign devotees were residents of the town. They had purchased Villas and flats and lived for months right under the nose of the Baba. After the soul of Baba departed from the town, Real estate crashed to an all-time low and tens of villas and flats were sold at throw away prices.

Vijay Kumar, owner of Krishna Bhavan told The Hans India that his hotel was running with 12 servers once but now it is running with only four servers. This explains the downslide in business and decline in flow of tourists and devotees. He moaned that traders are today unable to pay taxes due to crash in business fortunes.

Mohan, a police constable echoed the same sentiment like others that there is hardly a traffic regulation problem as the VIP visits have become rare. In the past, traffic regulation was a big challenge and when Baba was alive traffic diversion was the order of the day. However, for many devotees who are kindling old memories, the ghost of Baba is still haunting them and keeping alive fond memories of the past.

I rather liked the idea “the ghost of Baba is still haunting them” which is rather apt, though literally just as absurd as the believers in the Muddenahalli faction who believe it much more literally. For them, Madhusudan (a former student and consort of Sathya Sai) is inhabited by the subtle body of Sathya Sai, which speaks through him, gives darshans and discourses keeping within the mythological and speculative otherworldly ‘teaching’ of old. His disparagers refer to him as the ‘oracle boy’, while his followers actually call him Swami and regard him as a virtual automaton brought to life by the imagined ever-present avatar who is fulfilling his promise to die when he is 94! Sathya Sai Baba birthday anniversary 23/11/2017

Posted by robertpriddy on November 22, 2017

Sathya Sai Baba was almost certainly not born on November 23, 1926, which falsity has been spread throughout his life. Regardless of the only documentary evidence about his age, the authorities of Prashanthi Nilayam are now celebrating the anniversary of his false date of birth! See documentation:http://www.saibaba-x.org.uk/7/SchoolRecord.htm

An article in the Deccan Herald by E.S.L. Narasimhan – politician and governor of Andhra Pradesh, we read:  “If atomic knowledge is what a man pursues as his ultimate-goal, beyond his most subtle instincts, then the Vedas are the bedrock of this Atma Vidya and thus man’s best and most reliable ally. (E.S.L. Narasimhan -politician and governor of Andhra Pradesh)
That the Vedas has a shred of what we know today as “‘atomic knowledge” so this self-important dilettante with no academic or scientific qualifications is simply trying to increase tourism to Puttaparthi in which Andhra Pradesh has invested a lot in this since Sai Baba ceased to live.

This man is no relation of the erudite and famous journalist and editor V.K. Narasimhan who I knew very well indeed and who was very close to Sai Baba for about two decades. He wrote on. “The two-day event is witnessing mass recitation of Vedas by over 15,000 disciples of Sathya Sai Baba, among which 600 are those participating from 42 countries as a part of his 92nd birth anniversary.” (see http://www.saibaba-x.org.uk/10/AY.htm)
(Comment) 15,000 devotees for birthday sounds very small indeed compared to previous years when the fake ‘avatar’ was alive; but even sounds smaller when we consider that numbers are usually inflated by the powers-that-be! The 70th birthday was said to have had 3 million visitors but this was denied by the ashram engineer, Mr. Ashoka, who made clear that the total capacity of the Hillview Stadium was not more than 250,000. It was packed on the birthday, while most of the remainder of the ashram complex was almost deserted!

See http://www.saibaba-x.org.uk/16/numbersgame.htm

He continued: “Leading scientists from India and abroad who have done extensive research on Vedas are participating in this program as speakers. The relevance of the Vedas in modern times, within and outside of India and  Vedic science on agriculture & environment: a remedy to overcome food shortage was also discussed. Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan was the chief guest for the inaugural session and he exhorted everyone to understand the ultimate goal, that being liberation. “One has to respect different paths and faiths and recognise them as valid as long as they do not extinguish the flame of unity,” said the Governor quoting Bhagawan, and urged the people to work towards the greater need of the day, Unity.”
(Comment) Which truly leading scientist would bother to study the Vedas, none are named and therefore that they are ‘leading’ in any field must be highly doubtful.  Of course, Indian scientists can often be pro forma believers in all the supposed greatness of the primitive religious speculation, prescriptions and obeisances in the Vedas. So the rest is an attempt to make the vedas seem somewhat relevant to science (which was not developed until  long after the Vedas were written and then in Greece, not India).
