SATHYA SAI BABA IN WONDERLAND

Posted by robertpriddy on August 2, 2018

Sathya Sai Baba promoted a veritable inverted Wonderland which he said could only be entered by those blessed by God (i.e. himself, the Incarnate Creator of the Universe, (see documentation). This spiritual wonderland is where his devotees will get liberation from the wheel of existences’ (or moksha). This fabled paradisal haven for ‘liberated souls’  – a realm of eternal bliss, consciousness and being – he never described in any intelligible way! Where it is (can’t be in space-time) is anyone’s guess… as likely as not it is down a rabbit hole as through a looking glass’, or where devotees go – blinded like rabbits in a headlight –  into a dark night to become one with a non-existent God in oblivion.

However, ‘down here in the real world’, where thankfully Sai Baba no longer can strut his stuff, he claimed to have created its earthly semblance, calling it ‘The Abode of Supreme Peace” (Prashanthi Nilayam). It is a Disney-coloured extravaganza of buildings, temples, museums, colleges, VIP palace-like buildings and an opulent hospital. A make-believe place, and to help in making such a belief is to erect a tinsel-gilded cage of doctrine, taboos, rules, restrictions and commandments around oneself. Followers willingly resigned most of their personal freedom and autonomous will,  and ignored their own minds, concentrating on ‘the heart but not the head’, and ceasing to interact intelligently and openly with the wider world of human learning and experience.

The Abode of Supreme Peace amounted to the Abode of Supremely Peaceful Sai Baba, nothing more or less. So what was living at this ‘Abode of Supreme Peace’ like? Firstly no outward peace prevailed there, for not only were the milling crowds of undisciplined devotees constantly pushing for privileges and best places, but it was often an auditory hell – with blaring distorting loudspeakers and building racket by day, howling packs of warring pi-dogs by night. Due to a primitive open sewerage pit, large areas of the ashram stank to High Heaven (as the saying so aptly associates it). With a few honourable exceptions, the staff were mostly conceited small Napoleons (as if having ‘arrived spiritually’) who ordered their inferiors about (i.e. visitors), while making all kinds of hindrance and difficulty for normal living, remaining open to corruption for privileges and embezzlement wherever possible.

The supreme peace was interrupted most rudely at times, such as when young male devotees were murdered in his apartment in 1993! He fled away and orchestrated their cold-blooded murder, carried out by blackmailing the police. (See eye-witness account Night of the Murders)

Sathya Sai was occasionally yet less predictable and more imperious than Alice’s ‘Red Queen’, ruling students and servitors with an iron fist when he saw fit and ‘testing’ whether followers faith in him was sufficient through inexplicable statements, errant behaviour, and unacceptable acts (see one small example. Prince Gopal – here). Even the Red Queen, however, was not accused of major sexual abuses on young men and boys.

The ashrams were visited by many disturbed people, who were often dealt with in draconian ways, and no more peculiar collection of true believers could probably be found anywhere.  March hares and mad hatters abounded, no less dormice (the slothful and unhelpful residents who hoped for salvation just by being there). There were any amount of battling Tweedledum and Tweeledee egos and strange inhabitants and hangers-on around Sai Baba, of whom there were an unusually large percentage even compared to most other large personality cults.

In that fantasy-full environment people talked of yet stranger things than pink string, ceiling wax and whether cows have wings… because Sai Baba himself told them that he had magnetic feet which pulled the entire earth towards him – because the earth loved him! He actually also vouchsafed to his audience in a discourse that the whole of him was magnetic, literally – that things stuck to his body! (See here)

In October 2007, numerous reports claimed Baba ‘gave darshan on the moon’ as he had announced he would that evening. However, the sky was overclouded and the event had to be called off. That received much coverage in the Indian press and on Sai-promotional websites, though it was also debunked on various Indian news outlets like Sulekha.com and DNA India. (http://www.dnaindia.com/india/report-puttaprthi-sai-baba-misses-date-with-miracle-1125805).

In Wonderland, the fewest visitors got straight or frank answers from Sai Baba – and least of all from the officials. Finding out what actually happened behind closed doors was impossible except to those very few who got the chance to learn deeply buried facts in one unexpected way or another and worked hard to investigate. Even apart from the continual cover-up by all his officials and institutions of all untoward incidents, it was extremely difficult for those who have been inculcated into the whole divergency and disconnentedness of the Sai Baba belief system to do what Alice did in ‘Through the Looking Glass’, namely, discover that it is all really a house of cards and knock it down!

Sathya Sai Baba fraud: exchanges with a student

On Sai Baba fraud: interesting comments from Vasudeva a007 and replies

Hi Robert Priddy,  I am writing to you after reading some of the material about Satya Sai Baba by you. I have personally seen Baba already having things to materialize in his hand before he actually materialized the objects. Of course I have routinely seen Baba transferring something from left hand to right hand before he creates vibuthi. I have seen this one instance where he had a sugar candy in his left hand before he materialized and gave it to a boy who was caughing. But I do have to say that I have also seen him create things out of no where and by blowing at the objects they get vanished. I am at loss what to beleive and what not to beleive. Are this all the tricks Baba is performing on a doubting being like me? Some of my friends tell me all these are Baba’s leela’s and I should forget about them and one can never understand Baba’s ways. Regards S.

Hi Robert,
I am not sure if Baba is geniune or fraud. In terms of materializations definitely I have seen some fake ones and real(??) ones. I have seen objects already in his hand before he materialized them. But also I have seen other way round too, Baba creating things from thin air and vanishing them. It all baffles me. Well, I would like to know if Baba is a trickster then there must be extensive network involved in his game play, like some place or people involved where these material objects are manufactured or procured and persons transporting these objects. But, to my knowledge no body has found any such network or persons involved. Any comments from your side?

Hi Vasudeva,
Think about this – in many cases people have claimed to have seen Sai Baba change physical appearance totally, even several persons together, but at the same time others have been present who have not seen any change at all. This applies to many account of him during public ‘darshan’ – some see haloes, others not and so forth. Now, were these changes (and materialisations) real phenomena, then all present would have seen it. Sai Baba does not want anyone to understand his ways, – on the contrary! That is why he has always created a mystery around himself – it began in his childhood! Check out some of my many explanations of these matters on my various web pages (such as at http://saibaba-x.org.uk/)

Well, I too long thought I saw real materializations in interviews I attended. Now, after a long period of standing back and investigating in many directions – I am far more aware of the tricks that can be involved. I cannot write off the possibility of siddhi powers 100%. Apart from sleight of hand, which has been demonstrated and testified widely in his case, there are other possible causes, subtle suggestion is a tremendous part of Sai Baba’s repertoire – which some call hypnosis. This is not a process of ‘putting someone in a hypnotic trance’ as commonly thought, for it can be worked through powerful suggestion, especially after ‘softening-up’ through stories, books, films etc. Those who have long been mentally prepared to experience certain things like materializations (who already believe it possible) and who are not approaching warily or critically, are much more easily induced into a state of false perception. Sai followers usually go through a long period of generating faith and also ’self-indoctrination’ before they ever arrive in the interview room.

If you doubt that suggestion can be so powerful as to change people’s states of mind very radically, without more than a few clever words, study the work of UK’s Derren Brown, who can make people picked out of a group on the street or anywhere see and hear things and can find out what they are thinking, exactly what they have on their persons (including written shopping lists). He can very quickly induce a state of drunken stupor in a person (showing just how he does it) and turn it on an off with a few words (even words written on a piece or sent by mobile phone message). Many well-known, respected people and professional psychologists in UK have attested that there is no fraud whatever involve (no fixing of TV sequences or use of stooges). He says openly there are no psychic powers involved, but many techniques he has learned in observing personal psychology, varying means of suggestion, neuro-linguistic programming, misdirection of attention (as in stage ‘magic’ and pick-pocketing, for example) and much else. He explains some of his techniques in detail. He has a tremendous (possibly ‘photographic’) memory too. He has a very wide ‘repertoire’ and much of what he does is more dramatic that Sai Baba is seen to do. But he remains a sceptic about all ’spiritual’ powers, also about mediumism/contacting the dead, which he has reconstructed in a very convincing way, but he explains how and why he is a sceptic. kind of manipulation of perception done by Derren Brown is most impressive and dramatic – and is also intended to be so.
My view is exactly the same as to Sathya Sai Baba. He is a showman and manipulator.
Some of Derren Brown’s work is available on YouTube.com (Search ‘Derren Brown’)

Hi Robert Priddy,
Thanks for answering to my post in detail, I will definitely get hold of Derren Brown’s videos on net and watch them. I am not sure if Baba has some ‘Siddi’ power or have some other skills beyond normal human being.
Well, I would like to know if Baba is a trickster then there must be extensive network involved in his game play, like some place or people involved where these material objects are manufactured or procured and persons transporting these objects. But, to my knowledge no body has found any such network or persons involved. Any comments from your side?

Hi Vasudeva, There is no question but that Sathya Sai Baba is surrounded by people who do and tell exactly what they are told. But there have been many reports and I have received confidential e-mails from numerous persons telling how it is all arranged and who provides the trinkets he ‘materialises’. David Bailey reported a visit to a jeweller in Hyderabad who claimed to supply Sai Baba with some of the alleged ‘diamond rings’ he pretends to create from thin air. Incidentally, identical rings (synthetic stones like zircon in white, synthetic sapphires in green, navagraha 9-gem rings etc.) can be purchased in many jeweller shops in South India quite cheaply. The BBC visited another supplier in Bangalore, but did not include the film in their one hour presentation for reasons of space (they reported 80 hours of film on the subject, from which but one hour was used). Students have contacted exposé activists telling of an elderly Indian (named too) well known as being able to enter the interview room door whenever he arrived who for many years carried in the articles to give to Sai Baba on a regular basis.
Another student informed me in a private correspondence that Sai Baba has a small vibuthi pellet making machine. Though the source must remain anonymous at present at least, I give a verbatim excerpt from that letter for your interest:

”After the interview swami comes out and stands next to the pillar, and then he goes in. Luckily the interview door room is half open and I could see him going to the window. Then he picks up an envelope and takes out a vibhuti ball from it. Swami usually keeps crisp 500 rupee notes in the envelopes. It was the first time I saw vibuti in them.) He then realizes that the door is open and looks straight at me, then winks and comes out to give that vibhuti pellet to Dr.Goldstein by crushing it.”
He also tells of a friend who was doing housework for Sai Baba in Kodai who opened a box (which no one was supposed to touch) in Swami’s apartment which was full of rings of all sizes, brooches, necklaces and more. His friend was devastated and later he saw Sai Baba pretend to ‘materialize’ some of these articles for people on several occasions. We have also been informed how Sai Baba ‘materialises’ the oil he puts on boys’ and young men’s p*n*ses. He has a sponge in a tray of oil hidden somewhere, so he only has to grip it once to get oil on his hands.”

Satya Purcell has testified to such things (see http://home.hetnet.nl/~ex_baba/engels/articles/sathyapurcell02.html and other of his 6-part testimony) including how Sai Baba has many informants who mingle with devotees, also taxi drivers and others seemingly not connected with the ashram. In this way he can appear to know things it seems no one could.
I cannot give a full account here of all that is know about the apparatus around Sai Baba, but there have been numerous informants through the last 7 years. Perhaps we should gather them all together for all to see at one go.

Hi Robert Priddy, I just watched some of the Derren Browns videos and they are very interesting. Well spirituality, belief in God are some of the things no one has exact answers. Probably mankind will soon find a rational approach towards these topics. I find it amusing after so many years of training under Baba to love all and server all how some of the devotees still react with rage and anger in regards to any questions related to authenticity/duplicity of Baba. We are living in a world where reasoning is way of life. We are not living in a meta physical world. Come on guys, let’s live by reason and not blind faith.
When I was in Parthi, I use to see this happen all the time, fake materializations(at least to my eye). I did ask my Dad about this stuff and he bluntly put it like this – “You are just a kid, look at all the top scientists, doctors and educationalists who have dedicated their lives and career in serving Baba, do you think you are smarter than all of them”, well I have no answer to that question even now. Neither I was able to ask my question to peer devotees for the fear that I would either be thrown out of campus or run into some serious trouble with concerned authorities. Like many people like me who are skeptical, I always think I shouldn’t have even known about Baba and gotten into this mess. Luckily I never had any personal interviews nor any special relationship with him. If Baba is divine why are such skeptical people gotten into his fold. Instead he should remove such skepticism and show his authenticity for everyone since everyone is embodiment of love as per his oft saying.

Thanks Vasudeva, I would comment that I have never heard of any ‘top’ scientist visiting or supporting Sai Baba, no world figure of real intellectual distinction whatever… only unknown American PhDs (they are two a penny there) or Indian apparatchik nuclear science administrators… the same for ‘top’ educationalists… no one of real note in pedagogy or educational research. As to doctors, who are the top doctors is anyone’s guess. As to V.K. Narasimhan – a charming man followed his intensely Sai-devoted wife to Baba’s ashrams and got increasingly trapped in a role which became more and more uncomfortable, but he could not break out. He supported Sai Baba mainly because of the great promise his social projects once held, and put up with a lot he disagreed with for that reason. He was worried that his editing out of Sai Baba worst gaffes would discredit him, the former journalist. He shocked me time and again with revelations about Sai Baba and what goes on at the ashram – for example, that Colonel Joga Rao was known to all old residents never to have believed in Sai Baba’s miracles, but that he would serve him for the good he was trying to do in education etc. That Joga Rao loved filthy barrack room jokes and bored everyone with them, including VKN, and was accepted by Sai Baba (who also shared in the jokes)and allowed free access at any time to the private rooms… that I could not at first believe.

Sathya Sai Baba lingam fraud

Posted by robertpriddy on July 20, 2018

A critic of Sathya Sai Baba in India, his view backed by several of his friends, mailed me with a video showing Sai Baba putting a lingam into his mouth before it emerges. The crucial clip from the film, slowed down, can be seen here:- https://www.dropbox.com/s/n87gh5a2x0f5alt/SaiBabalingamfraud-slow.mp4?dl=0

Referring to a YouTube video (from which the above clip was taken and slowed down), the critic wrote:-

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7sgnHcYbaxc   2.42 – 2.46  on the right hand, you see the golden egg. You must see  till the end of 2.46.
6.48 – 6.52  you can see how strangely his left hand has a higher bump, then at 6.52 he pushes the egg hidden in the cloth into his mouth.

If you observe carefully, he spills the water in his mouth right before 2.42 because he realizes that the egg in his right hand was not fully covered. If you watch carefully all the details of expressions, movements, his conscience is making him shake from inside. You do not need a mentalist or a psycho analyst to see it.”

On the photo (left) one sees in his right hand
two glimpses of gold-

On the photo (right) the gold is seen better in his right hand.

Sai Baba dropped Vibuthi Pellet during darshan!

Posted by robertpriddy on May 23, 2018

Numerous testimonies that Baba dropped vibuthi pellets in front of former devotees, and also that he had, in the private interview room, a vibuthi pellet ‘machine’ which compressed the powder with water. Previous photographic or video evidence of pellets (between his fingers etc.) were sparse and not so clear. The video which has emerged on YouTube removes all possible doubt that he crushed pre-prepared pellets and did not materialise those.

To view a short clip with the important footage, go to https://www.dropbox.com/s/ain9opy4r1nzssi/Vibuti%20pellet%20drop.mov?dl=0 It looks as thought, having dropped the vibuti pellet, Baba quickly drops letters as well so a lady picks it all up (seems to be aware of the situation). Baba looks worried and then tried to avert people’s attention.

Sathya Sai Baba drops Vibuti Pellet at darshan. Baba drops the pellet and its fall is very clearly visible. This occurs at 1.03 secs. into the video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBilntPmlqE&feature=share

Prema Sai is found?

Posted by robertpriddy on June 3, 2015

What Sathya Sai Baba told about the coming of Prema Sai, as his next and final third incarnation as avatar was somewhat conflicting. Nonetheless, he was adamant that Prema Sai would not be known to the world in his childhood and would emerge later when mature enough. Since Prema Sai should be born anything from 1 to 8 years after the demise of Sathya was the time frame he gave. Since he died in 2011, this indicated that Prema Sai could not emerge until at least 14 years later, that is not before about 2025 at the earliest. He would look like the image based on that on a ring given by Sathya Sai Baba to John Hislop:-

There were several supposed  ‘official stories” accepted during the lifetime of Sathya. In the official Sai literature, Baba was reported as having given on different occasions two different places for the birth. In a lecture for foreigners in January 1985 at Prashanthi Nilayam which I attended Sai Baba’s biographer N. Kasturi told us that, while driving with him past a small village called Chandrapatna in Karnataka State (some 38 kms South West of Bangalore), Sai Baba said to him that he would ”take rebirth” there and that Kasturi would be his mother! (Kasturi also published this in one of his many writings).  Another account was that he would incarnate in Doddamalur (see Times of India scan: http://www.saibaba-x.org.uk/Images/ToI-DODDAMALUR.jpg) Further, in his book ‘Srl Sathya Sai Saba and the Future of Mankind‘, SP Ruhela, asserted that Prema Sai will live from 2030 to 2116 and gave various new details about the coming incarnation. Another prediction widely believed in was:-

The official ‘stories’ all called for considerable adjusting because of the premature death of Sathya Sai Baba in 2011! None of the various conflicting predictions Sathya Sai Baba made as to his lifespan (i.e. from 92 to 96 years of age) held up. This failure threw into disarray all the predictions Baba made of the time frames to his return in the incarnation as Prema Sai Baba. Not surprising to those who know the manipulations of fact and faulty propaganda spread by Sai Baba and all his various institutions through the decades. At his unexpected death, disappointed officials and zealots made the specious claim that Sai Baba DID live to be 96 if one reckons in terms of lunar years. However, none of the calculations based on lunar months (as opposed to calendar months) agreed with any of the various dates he had predicted. Nor does the lunar theory fit with what he clearly stated in 1960 “I will be in this mortal form for 59 years” and in 1961 “I shall be in this body for 58 years more“. (Sathya Sai Speaks Vol. I –  p 198 & Vol 2 – p. 92).

Despite that, since shortly after Sathya’s funeral, various people already began announcing the discovery of Prema Sais here and there. Prominent among these is the Muddenahalli ‘oracle boy’ Madhusudana (aka Sukshma Baba) who began to cough up sivalingams on Shivarathri and has stated that he is himself Prema Sai! All pretence that Sukshma Baba (former Sai student Madhusudan) is merely an instrument or ‘oracle boy’ is finally dropped. He had reinvented himself as Sathya Sai Baba, no less, who read the text proclaiming this  and approved it! At the same time he is pretending he is Prema Sai Baba. Two for the price of one! In Issue Seventy One – April 16, 2017 of the  Muddenahalli propaganda magazine, one can read the following:-
See Prema Sai at Muddenahalli, former Sai student is half-enthroned there

4-YEAR OLD CHILD WORSHIPPED AS PREMA SAI

4-YEAR OLD CHILD WORSHIPPED AS PREMA SAI

Read more on Prema Sai Prema Sai predicted as third Sai Baba incarnation
ALSO CONTINUATION OF THE DODDAMALUR PREMA SAI INFORMATION Has Satya Sai Baba been reborn? – Part 2

One fanciful example of the Prema Sai scams was presented as follows:-

They are doing pujas…they are doing bhajans…they are giving arathi..They are doing ground-breaking ceremonies for a new temple, they are filled with emotion. On one side is a statue of Sathya Sai Baba, on the other side they are falling on the ground full-body, doing namaskar (shastanga namaskar) to a boy. It’s been a long 4-year wait, but finally, the first ‘REAL’ Prema Sai, a boy who is 3 years old! This is from a 75-minute Telugu Video Has Satya Sai Baba reborn? – Part 1 – Tv9

The playing field is already filling up with this new challenge to the two factions which are warring for the Sai Baba brand. (Prashanthi Nilayam vs. Muddenahalli). Give it a few more years and there certainly will be yet more Prema Sais, more ambitious rival factions fighting to get on the gravy train. The poor boy, his life will be changed forever, his personality will be shaped and probably not for the better. Out translator says: “The mother seems very naive, innocent and honest. I expect coaching will be added to their education, especially if those will ulterior motives join the fray. This is Hinduism’s ugly side, the grotesque, ugly and deluded religious guru-fanaticism.”

TRANSLATOR’S TRANSCRIPT & SUMMARY OF SOME MINUTES:-
1:05: It’s been four years since Sathya Sai Baba took his last breath; this boy was born over a year after he left the body. People are worshipping the feet of this boy. What is really happening here? What is this devotion and happenings? Where is this happening? Was Sathya Sai born again, is Prema Sai born again?
2:14, Lady commentator comes on and says basically what is written above.
(Scenes of the village) This is a village in Karnataka. Beautiful village, peaceful minds (etc).
3:02, A villager talks about how five people came from Manipur to their village and went house to house searching. (Commentator:) They searched for about two and a half months. They carefully looked at each small child. Villagers had doubt and even wondered if they wanted to kidnap a child. They finally asked the group what they were doing.
3:47, They group from Manipur said their guru told them to come to this village and search, because Sathya Sai was born again.
4:11, The boy was born in June last week in 2012 (4:33, scenes of the five guys from Manipur). The group from Manipur declared that without a doubt, this boy was Prema Sai Baba. (Commentator describes the history of devotees believing in the 3rd Sai avatar, including him declaring he’d be born in Doddamallur village in Karnataka.)
5:59, One of the Manipur guys speaks in Hindi about searching for Prema Sai. Commentator: The boy fulfilled all the tests that the Manipur guru asked them to perform on young boys in the village.

6:28, Lady Commentator asks questions about who exactly is the boy, who was he born to, etc. Some history and info on Sathya Sai follows, complete with all the heresy about his miracles etc. (Video withdrawn from YouTube)

Yet another claimant to the Prema Sai brand name went to town with his own absurd promotional campaign:-

Sai Baba materialises a diamond ring & drops vibuti pellet (photos)

Posted by robertpriddy on July 29, 2014

BabaringThe scan of part of a photo sold in Puttaparthi shows what seems to be Sai Baba materialising ‘from thin air’ a diamond in a gold setting. The object is not detached from the hand, though, and the ring could easily be held in the crook of the thumb. This is therefore no proof of materialization. It is said that ‘seeing is believing’ but, especially in this kind of ‘incredible’ case belief usually precedes seeing… one sees what one already believes, or wishes to see and believe:-

Blow-up1

Those who believed this photo to be proof of his ability to manifest objects were invariably already devoted to Sai Baba. Those who even got as far as an interview so as to be able to watch at all closely such ‘materialisations’ have already gone through a long process of preparation to believe it must be genuine. They will always have read incredible stories in emotional hagiographic books praising Sai Baba, seen propaganda videos and films, met people who claim to have witnessed miracles of all kinds. They will also already have learned that those who express scepticism or question claims are soon excluded from the groups that gather around Sai Baba, and are not welcome in his organisation meetings (even if not also banned outright from attending them or visiting the ashrams).

The entire business of taking objects out of thin air is, according to Sai Baba, was to help convince those who see it that he was above and beyond all worldly limitations. He attached a mystical symbolism to this act when giving what he pretended are diamond rings (see scanned quotation on left). Yet he was sometimes asked to produce large objects (on one occasion a pumpkin). This he did not do and never did. The largest objects he allegedly ‘materialised’ were statuettes of Krishna and the like taken by him out of deep sand when he took selected groups out to picnics. However, the places chosen – apparently by chance – were almost certainly pre-arranged by his closest servitor Colonel Joga Rao, who served as his ashram planner and engineer.

Residents of the ashram knew that Joga Rao did NOT believe in any miraculous powers, but justified his work with Sai Baba because he felt it led to improvements in the lot of the poor people of Andhra Pradesh, providing money for school, health care etc. This fact was never publicized or written about, but I was told this by the famous journalist, later Sai Baba’s editor V.K. Narasimhan, who spoke very freely to me in private on many occasions. When he told me that I could not believe my ears, but he told me a lot about Joga Rao (a man whose filthy jokes he hated but had to endure when Sai Baba allocated them a room in which both must stay while travelling with him). This was confirmed to me again when a Norwegian who was in a group planning an eco waste system for Prashanthi ashram which asked Rao whether they should not consult Baba on some issues. They got the comment: “What does Sai Baba know about it?” So Colonel Joga Rao, who for years walked behind Sai Baba at his darsans and held his hanky for Baba to wipe his hand on and regularly took over the pile of letters he collected, was passing vibuti balls to him the while, convinced that it was for the best all in all!

See two still captures of the dropped pellet:-

To view a short clip with the important footage of the above, go to https://www.dropbox.com/s/ain9opy4r1nzssi/Vibuti%20pellet%20drop.mov?dl=0 It looks as thought, having dropped the vibuti pellet, Baba quickly drops letters as well so a lady picks it all up (seems to be aware of the situation).

The Golden Age – Sai Baba’s promise to Connie Shaw discredited

Posted by robertpriddy on June 3, 2011

connie-shawSathya Sai Baba made predictions in private interview situations, knowing that they would spread like wildfire as uncontrollable rumours. Then, when the predictions failed, which they invariably did, there was no documentary proof that he made them, and devotees dared not confront him or what he said in any way. The same with many of the leelas and miracles, they are very important to the Sai Baba legend and are mixed up with disinformation, a clever technique at which Sathya Sai Baba was adept and he used his unwitting collaborators to propagate.

In 2002, a long-term devotee who was on her 31st visit to see Sathya Sai Baba, had a private interview (in the rear room) which she reported on the Internet. The web page http://www.saibaba.ws/reports/connieshaw.htm has since been removed for obvious reasons, but a scan of the page is reproduced here (CLICK ON small scan on right to enlarge):-

CLICK ON IMAGE TO ZOOM INNow that 2008 has long passed by and international war continues in Afghanistan and a civil war backed by NATO in Libya took place. The so-called ‘war on terror’ is also being actively pursued and the US Congress is to pass a law defining cyber attacks as war, giving the right to respond militarily. A horrendous war raged in Syria from 2011, and has spread to Iraq where ISIS is warring against the Kurds and Shities. Outright war also occurred in Russia’s invasion of Georgia in South Ossetia, which Russia now occupies, and Russia provoked civil war in Ukraine and annexed the Crimea by force. There have been several major civil wars in recent times, such as in Dafur, Indonesia, in the Congo area and in diverse other minor war conflicts in African states.

As to the Golden Age and transformation of human consciousness etc, it was heralded for decades by Sathya Sai Baba but, when failing to occur, was repeatedly promised at a new and later date. In 2012 it was further postponed until to the much promoted ‘advent of Prema Sai’ as a third reincarnation of Sai Baba in Southern India, whenever that is supposed to take place.  Another example of this kind of Sai Baba prediction:- The VIP devotees, Rita and Robert Bruce, were told by him about practically instant transformation of people’s consciousness after his 80th anniversary. But that anniversary was celebrated in 2006!  What kind of transformation is that? (see The Golden Age of Sai Baba)

Disinformation: “—  involves the deliberate, calculated dissemination of equivocal data, partially true, partially erroneous, in order to conceal something, to deflect attention in one or another peripheral or tangential direction. But the best lies are always embellishments or variations of the truth, not total fabrications. The most effective disinformation is always structured around a core of validity.” (from The Messianic Legacy by Baigent, Leigh & Lincoln London 1968)

Sathya Sai Baba claimed he was (and always is) the Director behind the scenes of all that happens on the world stage. This therefore necessarily includes events that are inexplicably evil and abominable, which he simply wrote off as all part of his ‘maya’ (i.e deceptive appearances), and ‘his Divine sport’ (i.e. leela). The Holocaust was but one relatively mild good example. This level of disinformation surely surpasses anything the biggest propaganda agencies of the last century have produced. It would be amazingly inexplicable that about 7 Indian Prime Ministers and 5 Presidents have endorsed this charlatan Godhead, were it not for the obvious fact that they have been under his influence long themselves and saw him as as important for their electorate in Andhra Pradesh and subsequently other Indian states. Not least, he was the biggest foreign currency earner in India for decades. That the Sathya Sai Central Trust was granted total freedom from customs and excise duties and taxation – and even after his ignominious death can conceal most of its accounts and transactions and remain largely unaccountable for anything, made it an Eldorado for money launderers and corrupt politicians, though its secrecy is so tight that this cannot be proven or even investigated! Note that the importance for the Indian economy of payments to the funds of gurus with followings outside the country has been essential, and has been a main source of foreign earnings.

There are any number of prophecies by Sathya Sai Baba which signally failed to come about – a list of links for those not acquainted with these gives the documentation and proofs in each case:-

Sai Baba: his life is his message

Posted by robertpriddy on October 20, 2009

What message do we get from the life of Sathya Sai Baba? From studying his actual person while alive – not just his many flowery words – one of the main things that some cite in favor of Sathya Sai Baba is his “teachings”.  However, independent and objective non-followers (including many devotees I knew) have found the following to apply to him:-

He was often very self-contradictory in word and action

He demonstrated ignorance on many facts about scientific, historical, religious and other subjects

His teachings were eclectic, borrowing for most Hindu traditions, some Christian, Buddhist.. and much traditional Indian superstition

He provided a ‘pick and mix’ menu of advice and commandments for aspirants, clashing with much of modern human science and human rights

He often ignored what people asked him by irrelevant answers or other reactions

He mostly spoke in vague, sweepingly general, impractical and exaggerated ways about things

He was highly condemnatory of many groups, professions (eg. scientists, doctors, parents, politicians, youth, children, and most of his devotees)

He was controlling, imperious, and frequently belittling of devotees and rude when he so chose

He set an autocratic, dictatorial example of leadership (towards most of his staff and office-bearers)

He would never tolerate the slightest hint of criticism of any kind whatever from anyone

Basooning his claimed self-sacrifice, he enjoyed a life that for Indians is sheer luxury (cars, houses, all services, no labour at all etc.)

He constantly claimed as ‘his’ achievements all the work of others who supported him

He very often made promises to followers which he never kept and predictions which events proved false (one big example)

He constantly borrowed and recycled the teachings of others without mentioning them

He praised those who promoted him vigorously and worshipped him ostentatiously in public

He boasted repeatedly of being world famous, that the whole world would come to him and ‘Everyone loves me

He did not follow his own teachings on many matters: by criticising others (in discourses, interviews), by not being chaste and acting on sexual desires, and by condoning executions

Sai Baba’s miraculous omnipresence?

Posted by robertpriddy on July 4, 2008

Under the title “How is believing in miracles helpful in one’s spiritual growth? A Sai Baba devotee, Anjali Gadiraju, wrote how amazed he was at what he took as a proof of Sai Baba’s miraculous omnipresence, as follows:-

“I will tell you personal incident. I came from the hot state of Andhara Pradesh. As Bangalore is very cold, I soon developed sinus problem. I took a water heater and went for my bath.

I was about to take my bath, when there was sudden power cut. The power went off and the water was not ready for my bath. So I causally washed my face and went for darshan.

>I sat in the darshan, Slowly, came the gentlle figure, the short with broad smile, holdin his robe with one, and weaving the hand in circles with the other. He stood in front of me looked into the empty space and waved both hands, saying, “There are some who come for darshan without having bath.”

I, WAS WONDER STRUCK. I WAS TAKEN BACK, AND SAID,”How so you know?” He replied, “Where am I? I am in your bed room and I AM in your bath room. I am everywhere “

Anjali Gadiraju did not consider that Sathya Sai Baba would know of the power cut, since it affects hiom too when the Brindavan ashram’s electrical system breaks down. So simple.

“Then I, ran to my room and took a double bath. I returned and sat on the verandah. Baba came suddenly after bhajans. He came straight to me and said, “A normal bath is enough, don’t worry. The omnipotence and omnipresence are qualities of divinity to let us know that the Avatar is not less than the divine personaliy.”

On this basis, the wonder-struck simpleton decides that Sathya Sai Baba is omnipotent and omnipresent.

Firstly, why could not the ‘omnipotent’ Sai Baba fix the electricity? Answer: because he is too busy saving the entire world and humanity? Secondly, there are various ways in which Sathya Sai Baba could know that Gadiraju could have taken a bath. Firstly, it was to be expected after he had chided about it earlier. Simple explanation. As to a ‘double bath’, that is a matter of definition. Sathya Sai Baba is an expert at so-called ‘cold reading’ and could easily pick up that this devotee thought the bath had been a very thorough one (Gadiraju’s account can be seen at (https://web.archive.org/web/20070221221407).

Cold reading is amazing to people who do not know about it. The young illusionist Derren Brown is famous throughout UK (and increasingly in the rest of the world) because of his feats of cold reading (plus suggestion, misdirection, magic and psychology). He is able to tell intimate details about people he has never met and within a matter of seconds – and has demonstrated this countless times under the TV cameras (and there is no fraud involved at all, as interviews with his staff, his subjects and himself and those ‘behind the scenes’ proves conclusively).

Derren Brown of UK – videos on YouTube – there are many more on his DVDs and of a very wide variety of what seem to be ‘psychic powers’ but which he explains are not that at all. He is a sceptic as to the spiritual powers, but demonstrates what people believe to be such powers like ‘omniscience’ etc.. This is basic learning and sensible re-programming for all followers of gurus and avatars! He uses neuro-linguistic programming and many other techniques which he partly (but not entirely) explains to everyone. He shows the huge extent to which minds can be instantly manipulated by one who knows how.

False Predictions by India’s Revered “Omniscient Avatar”

Posted by robertpriddy on September 30, 2007

Some Predictions by Sathya Sai Baba, guru worshipped by India’s Prime Ministers and Presidents: An example which many readers of Dr. Hislop’s Conversations with Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba will have wondered much about is the prediction made there in 1968 by Baba in contradicting Hislop. Hislop suggested that Baba’s students would come into positions of influence in 20 or 30 years, when they are in their thirties or older. Baba insisted that in only 10 years there would be a great change in the Indian nation as a result (while still in their 20’s). We also read there:

Sai: “In India people reach positions of power and influence earlier in life. Even now there are a number of examples throughout the nation… The students say that when they grow up they will do as Sai wills. As positions open in every area of the Indian society, these young men will occupy the positions. Wherever they go they will influence and change the society for the better. Corruption and such problems will sharply diminish.”
This prediction cannot be said to have been fulfilled yet, in 1995. is now known to be one of the most corrupt societies in the world, and Indians are very aware of it and the continuing degeneration in the years since 1968. Baba’s students may be entering positions of influence, but this is not evident yet to political observers, at least.

Predictions by Sai Baba concerning the influence of his Veda Patsala established in the early years (school of Vedic chanting) which was to grow and flourish have also not come about… the institution was disbanded after some years of functioning.

Likewise, various statements made in discourses by Baba on vast increases in area size of the Prashanthi Nilayam ashram (to include Dharamsala, over 20 miles away) and the number of visitors expected for certain festivals were not fulfilled, the size and numbers falling far short of those predicted! We heard some reports while at Prashanthi, independently confirmed from three ashram sources, that within the preceding year Baba had told students that the village Puttaparthi would soon be bulldozed away and that within 10 years Prasanthi would become enormous – 38 miles circumference. That was very hard to imagine in such a short time – much bigger than itself!. But the area of Prashanthi Nilayam has far from doubled so far by 2007.

Sai Baba told New Zealanders in interview around Xmas 95 (told to several of my friends in 1996 by Mr. Arthur Hillcoat, leader of the Sai Org. in N.Z.) that the French nuclear tests have released radiation into the ocean which will cause great havoc, ecological destruction and deaths in N.Z. and also in other places thousands of miles distant. (This seemed extremely unlikely at the time and has not proven to have the slightest credibility since.)
Despite this, even Sai followers still publish scaremongering materials about apparently bogus interviews supposedly given by Baba telling of massive earth changes, the likelihood of a coming deluge, materialising maps and even globes of the earth showing drastic changes, the loss of major parts of continents and an entirely new North Pole position. Further, a number of residents at Prashanthi Nilayam have long circulated a list of 27 highly imaginative mostly catastrophic` predictions around the millennium that Baba is supposed to have made to 18 students at Ootacamund before 1984. None of these predictions took place as stated.
Other millennial fears and predictions were nevertheless also rife among certain Sai devotees prior to New Year 2000. In a well-known incident at an interview, Baba told some people, including a Spanish airline pilot I met, that in a certain period around the millennium, air traffic would be disturbed world-wide for about 24 hours and it was unadvisable to travel then. This was published in Sai Impressions. However, the responsible publisher – Mr. Padmanabhan of Sai Towers Publications – was called in by ashram authorities and told to withdraw this news, it has only been information of a private nature. At first, paper was pasted over the announcement… so by removing the paper, it could be read. Later a new print run had entirely eliminated this material.

Chris Dokter, professional academic and Baba dissident

Posted by robertpriddy on May 15, 2018

Chris Dokter is a fellow academic and educator. Mr. Dokter is an alumnus of the University of Groningen, an institute founded in 1614, with a steady top 100 world ranking (see here). He graduated with honours in clinical psychology, with minors in labour and organizational psychology. After graduating he went on to become a licensed health psychologist and psychotherapist (holding five specialties: group psychology and therapy, behavioral therapy, client centered therapy, trauma and EMDR therapy, and relation therapy), foregoing a Ph.D position. Alongside his therapeutic work, he fore fronted equal rights for students and graduates with physical and mental handicaps, and was appointed trainer and supervisor in postgraduate schooling. For ten years, he was also columnist for a nationwide mental health magazine.

Chris, August 1981, Puttaparthi

As a young man, at the end of the seventies, early eighties, when he suddenly got so ill he could not prolong his erstwhile studies (Pedagogics & Education), he became heavily involved in the budding Sathya Sai Baba phenomenon and Organization. He was instrumental in helping shape the first statutes, and subsequently translated several books on the subject of ‘the man of miracles’ into Dutch (e.g. the Howard Murphet classic Sai Baba: Man of Miracles and the equally (in)famous Samuel Sandweiss one: Sai Baba, the Holy Man… and the Psychiatrist). Soon after his interest was aroused, he visited India for months at a time in 1981, 1983, 1985, and lastly in 1990, attracting special attention from the godman and gaining multiple group and 2 private interviews, plus several materializations of vibhuti. After his first visit, he toured his home country with slide shows and talks about his special experiences, which in turn led him to lead groups of country men and women on organized tours to Brindavan and Puttaparthi.

When in 1992, the idea was launched to go and make a film about this enigmatic man, a crew of filmmakers, cameramen and scientists under the egis of Dutch national television (IKON), Mr. Dokter was first asked by the overall, veteran director Philip Engelen (died 2010) to translate the script, ‘Sathya Sai Baba Als in een Spiegel’ into English and, after completion, lending his voice to the international version (‘Sathya Sai Baba, As in a mirror darkly’)

Weirdly enough, the film, which sparked heated debate in the Netherlands, appeared worldwide almost simultaneous to the infamous murders of 4 people in Sai Baba’s quarters, the latter fully unbeknownst to the general public and even longstanding devotees. By then, Chris had long since distanced himself from the organization, both national and international, which he found far too rigid, and led more and more by quite dictatorial national and European regional coordinators, headed by an overly power-hungry Central Committee. Also, from 1985 onwards, he had more and more serious doubts about the alleged avataric quality of Sathya Sai Baba, and his promises. In 1997, he made his last appearance on Dutch TV as a devotee, in a program called ‘There is more between heaven and earth’, after which he distanced himself completely from these activities. It was not until 2010 that his interest re-emerged, quite by chance. Among other things, he started a blog against the man and his movement, feeling an obligation to balance his previous proselytizing, however earnest, by making known his current view on Sathya Sai Baba and his movement, aiding in some small measure to the body of work, done mainly online by whistleblowers and ex-followers, not least many brave young men who testified about sex abuses by Sai Baba.

Among the numerous former devotees who became critics are David Bailey, Barry Pittard, Brian Steel, Eileen Weed  Sergei Badaev, Conny Larsson, and myself.

In his article ‘A Trip down Memory Lane’, Chris Dokter wrote:- “Because of the ever-increasing unavailability of direct contact with Sathya Sai Baba over the previous decades, which was the inevitable result of the sheer increase in numbers of visitors to the ashram and the very limited amount of time the master provided for interaction with them (twice a day for maybe twenty minutes darshan, plus the rare interview, accosted to the ‘happy’ few), large groups of devotees resorted more and more to indirect ‘proof’, whether through prayer, dreams, premonitions, contact with VIP-devotee-clearvoyants like Phyllis Krystal, and other, sometimes all-too-primitive supposed channelers and channeling of the master…Being unavailable is one of the devices cult leaders use in order to gain an ever-increasing aura among their believers, by the way. Especially when their followers are cooped up in primitive dwellings, and are deprived of contact with the outside world their whole day revolves around the master. Not seeing him, not being able to come into close, personal contact with him, makes people anxious, which in turn serves as an incentive to listen to tall tales and boosting the master’s omnipotence through any number of stories heard through the grapevine. It also hides the master quite effectively from any altogether too inquisitive a view from people who are a bit more sceptical.

If a master at all, Sathya Sai Baba certainly was one in this respect! He pulled off the most unlikely feat: not letting himself get caught for the massive fraud, deception and abuse he was involved in during sixty odd years. Instead, he managed to achieve an enormous following and influence the world over, culminating in a state funeral, with full honours, and very few awkward questions asked even after his demise.”
He has posted numerous blogs on his WordPress site entitled ‘Mind your Mind’ Among his most informative blogs he posted are the following:-

Warning from Sai Surya

Posted by robertpriddy on May 11, 2018

The following warning from the self-designated virtual mouthpiece of the Muddenahalli gang of the oracle ‘boy’ Sukshma Baba shines forth as an especially vapid example… weaker than diluted water:-

Samastha Loka132 2-5-18 Warning
Sai Ram  We just learned that the period leading up until the end of July 2018 will be extremely critical for world peace. It can go either way. There are no details at the moment.
Any thing can happen.

Then comes the antidote:
“it is time stop watching television, movies, music videos, reading newspapers and magazines, gossiping, chatting on social media AND use these times for chanting. You must take the crises that the whole world is facing as serious. It will affect you wherever you live.
It may be too late when there is no food to eat, when you are in the middle of a hurricane or cyclone, your building is shaking, disease is spreading around you. Anything can happen but why take the chance. Remember that the new age is in the process of being born. Labor pains are to be expected The New Age is wonderful beyond description.”

All empty claims, and some! Chanting as the answer to all world problems is not even hilarious, it is downright moronic. How many people have chanted how much since the world began, and all the problems and threats to security and are much more dire! The best position for chanting is illustrated:-below:-

Tulasi Srinivas ‘Winged Faith’ reviewed

Posted by robertpriddy on May 6, 2018

Review of “Winged Faith: Rethinking Globalization and Religious Pluralism through the Sathya Sai Movement” (Columbia University Press, 2010).

This book attempts to present what one would expect from a serious researcher, an independent and  balanced view of the matter. In this respect, Srinivas has made a greater attempt to include the sphere of facts and discussions that many other books and articles have avoided. Her book purposely avoids discussion of the true nature of Sai Baba, his pick-and-mix doctrines, vast claims of omniscience, omnipotence and omnipresence, creator of the universe and much. much more that discredits him in the eyes of any reasonable person who is not brought up within a  Hindu mythological religion and ‘spirituality’ . Nor does she want to investigate the many cultish aspects of his organization, educational institutions and ashrams. She has at least taken up the major issues of some of the infamous murders in Sai Baba’s rooms and allegations of sexual abuse from young men all around the world, if only sketchily. Under typical academic and publishing restraints, however, Srinivas has erred rather on the side of undue caution about these two major crises for Sathya Sai Baba’s reputation and import in spiritual matters. I had an extended communication with her, helping her to penetrate the movement and correcting certain errors she made (though she has still made a number of serious factual blunders). However, she stated her aim with her work to me as follows:-

“I merely intended to note what devotees, ordinary people, and former devotees say about the Movement, Sai Baba himself, and the Organization and what happens within it. So it is much more about representation, perception and dialogue. While “facts” do weave in and out of the narrative, they have to, in my opinion, for validity of some of the representation, my search is much more about strands of knowledge and interpretation, which in most cases, as you know better than I do, is not about proving anything concrete.”

I must remark, however, that the work has a definite tendency towards explaining away conflicts of opinion, especially between those accusing Sai Baba of serious sexual abuse and those who believe it to be an ancient Indian method of sexual healing. She also virtually defends – on the basis of a (convenient) view of spirituality as a wholly private affair – the secrecy and silence of devotees who would not tell her anything she wanted to know and who almost entirely preferred not to speak about the sexual and murder issues. Her subject matter originally came to her through friends who were Sai devotees and she was clearly attracted by the promise of a major spiritual renewal that many people – including myself – thought he represented. She admits of being naive at the outset of her researches in that she did not realize the complex nature of the movement – the cult of secrecy, hierarchy and tensions within it, especially within the institutions – the Sai Organization, the Sai Central Trust and other bodies. Though she has been given much information from Sai movement insiders – including some about me – she failed signally to grasp the pernicious cultic and deceptive nature of Sai Baba and his minions. Though she referred to me and my writings in an acceptable enough manner, she ignored a great deal of the most important facts exposed by me and others I have reported on. She quotes the more reasonable things written, for example, by Ram Das , but leaves out his horrific and extensive justifications of direct sexual abuse by the Avatar for ‘karmic reasons’ etc. This kind of omission is typical of almost all she touched on

Unlike her, I am a dissident who sacrificed nearly two decades of my life to working for Sathya Sai Baba and Co., and – also unlike her – I have gone beyond academic appeasement of conflicting parties and become an activist with a clear duty to refute my former well-intended positive writings Therefore I disregarded the norms of not saying what one knows – common to those with the academic herd mentality of playing very safe – speaking my mind clearly and frankly and not opting for timidity towards one’s academic peers or betters. An amoral attitude under cover of a purely academic observer interest I consider simply morally wrong, as it always involves denial of key subject matter. Note further that, despite Srinivas’ hasty interview in the media rather over-endorsing the man and his movement after his controversial illness and death, Srinivas’ appreciation of the whole history shows itself as entirely out-dated.

Considering the subsequent consignment of Sai Baba as if to Coventry in the world and much of the Indian press, and his ignominious death under suspicious cover-up circumstances  it is now much more a case of ‘Broken Wings and Mistrust’ than ‘Winged Faith’. All the deceptions involving the Central Trust exposed by the Indian media put matters in a far different light to the formerly unchallenged propaganda by his minions when we learned of the later of hoarding of private wealth on a huge scale by Sai Baba when his apartments were opened, the bitter battles over ‘succession’ and the huge wealth involved, the police investigations of the secreting of massive funds from Puttaparthi in vans and buses where members of the supposedly impeccable Trust were involved, and public allegations that the Sai Trust murdered Sathya Sai Baba. Tulasi Srinivas evidently did not make a very serious study of the infamous murders incident in Sathya Sai Baba’s apartment in 1993 (as I have done), though she chose to present her own view of the matter, clearly only a personal and poorly documented opinion based on a narrow segment of the available materials. She did not, however, have access to the testimony of the eyewitness dissident, Eileen Weed, who observed from the apartment of Sai Baba’s elder sister and learned of the whole dirty affair and the massive bribes paid out directly afterwards by Sai Baba.

<span style="font-size:14pt;font-family:Arial;color:#800080for a start, she writes:- “They knifed Mr. Radhakrishnan who was in a room nearby, as well as another close devotee, Mr. Mahajan (who survived) and ran to an inner room and bolted themselves in.” Nothing could be clearer from the documents that Mahajan did NOT survive the attack, so Srinivas made a major and revealing error, one of many similar in her book. Tulias Srinivas does not consider the massed evidence collected by the national award-winning sceptic, Basava Premanand, such as in his very voluminous book ‘Murders in Sai Baba’s Bedroom’, nor his other clarificatory writings. She does not refer to what was revealed to me by V.K. Narasimhan, the editor of Sai Babas’s journal and a very close servitor about the role of Sai Baba’s younger brother (Janakiramiah) in causing and endorsing the police executions, not of his complicity with the then Indian Home Minister (S.B. Chavan) nor take any notice of his frenetic activities in dealing with the issue – frequent flights to Sai Baba to confer with him, as recorded throughout the Indian press in dozens of articles (see some here – India’s Home Minister could not avoid investigation by CBI, but quashed it laterThe quashing of the entire case, after maximum confusion had been created by the involved parties, including Sai Baba himself who was never questioned. Nor does she address Sai Baba’s own inconsistencies and rumour-spreading in his subsequent discourse some weeks later. See also this review:-

Asaram Bapu & Sathya Sai Baba – birds of a feather

Posted by robertpriddy on May 4, 2018

This visit to Sathya Sai Baba by Asaram Bapu underlined their mutual endorsement

Asaram Bapu, now finally convicted after years in prison during which witnesses were murdered and victims harassed while the indecisive got nowhere. It is worth noting that Asaram was close to another infamous sexual abuser, namely Sathya Sai Baba, who India’s government declared was a ‘national treasure’ and covered-up all his many crimes, especially countless sexual assaults, which the present government still deny and cover up for reasons best known to themselves. Asaram is shown while visiting Prashanthi Nilayam in 2004 beside Sai Baba, where they gave speeches extolling each other publicly!

Ex-Sai Devotee spoke out about his Sai Baba interview

Posted by robertpriddy on May 3, 2018

ULLRICH   ZIMMERMANN’S   UNDISPUTED  TESTIMONY

A series of film interviews with this young man as partly transcribed below described the excitement of a first interview with Sai Baba which many others have described. Only the private interview in a closed room with him took on a most unwanted aspect.

In three lengthy on-line TV interviews (at the US portal blip.tv.com, since defunct) the former Sai Baba follower, Ullrich Zimmermann, gave a thorough description of his experiences with Sathya Sai Baba. This delivers a major blow to any wishful doubts entertained by the faithful that Sathya Sai Baba practices sex on male devotees.Ullrich’s frank and detailed account of his experiences and his interpretations of them may well be of help to some of the many others who (as he also asserts) have been through similar sexual experiences with Sathya Sai Baba, whether of lesser or greater degree.
There is a transcript of the most revealing part two where he tells of the private interview and Sai Baba’s sexual acts. Then a summary plus partial transcript of part three, where he reflects back on his experiences and the Sathya Sai cult .
The full-length videos were posted by blip.tv but are no longer available there (see wayback machine scans Part One (introductory) – Part Two (the main account of sex etc.) – Part Three (reflections). The image below is copied from blip.tv’s web site .
Both his common sense and his more esoteric musings may well be helpful. He raises the question whether this oral sex was sexual abuse or a ‘divine blessing’, and – when this interview was made all of seven years ago, he did not then regard it as sexual abuse. However, the factual description he gave was of oral sex imposed on him virtually against his will and in his very first meeting with Sai Baba who he believed and trusted in fully as being God. Those of similar faith – such as his mother also was – tend to accept the idea that it was a divine blessing (unless – as most do – they deny it can ever take place). Many other young men from across the world have already independently testified to the same kind of sexual abuses by Sathya Sai Baba through many years (see under ‘Witnesses’ on ExBaba.com). None of them stated they regard the sexual acts as a ‘divine blessing’.Whatever ‘spiritual’ interpretations some devotees may choose to apply here, ExBaba’s campaign to show that Sai Baba does indeed have sexual relations with young men is yet again vindicated. In the interests of truth and the protection of the innocent, former devotees and others around the world have worked – against cover-up and many obstacles – to expose the truth about Sai Baba’s most widely alleged molesting of young males.

Ullrich’s natural honesty is unmistakable as he tells of his whole Sai Baba experience – including the difficult and sensitive subject of oral sex. He, like others who have come forward, cannot be praised sufficiently for his bravery and adherence to truth and decency. As his interviewer says, these revelations will come as a major shock to those Sai devotees who watch the video, not least because of the openness and entirely unassuming character of Ullrich in his self-evaluations and his fearless answers to questions put to him.
Ullrich Zimmermann points out that there is a big difference between a ‘guru’ and a ‘teacher’ – where gurus disempower their followers and rob them of freedom, teachers (as to spirituality) always leave those who seek their advice to make up their own minds and achieve their own way in life. Ullrich followed Sai Baba as a guru, but is now very clear that he no longer wants Sai Baba or any other guru, even though there may have been some temporary benefits from such devotion.

In the first part of this series, Ullrich Zimmermann tells how he came to Sathya Sai Baba and got his first interview. This is of more interest to those who have not been to the ashram. For those who have direct experience of Sathya Sai Baba through personal contact, devotion or in trying to practice his teachings, the first interview will seem too drawn out (playing time up to 1 hour). Ullrich gives a detailed description of how he – and many others no doubt – feel and experience visiting thge ashrams and Sai Baba so as to bring out the way in which – as a keen devotee – he was already largely indoctrinated already, and in a state of nervous expectation etc. He also shows how easily he then believed many things – was indoctrinated like most other devotees – before he even met Sai Baba. However, the conclusions he arrived at – some considerable time after his two sexual contacts – shows a quite other and much more critical perspective (stated in Part Three) .
In Part Two of the series (playing time over 30 mins), Ullrich tells – with a very natural frankness and believability – of his first experiences with Sai Baba in the inner interview room in which he was induced to engage in oral sex (fellatio) on Sai Baba on two occasions, though he was never gay and says he had always felt the idea of being forced into gay sex “the ultimate horror”. Ullrich says he did not feel sexually abused because he had total faith in Sai Baba (as God Incarnate) and trusted he would always do what was best for him. So he went along with the ‘wishes he couldn’t refuse’. Whether this was a ‘divine blessing’ or merely sexual abuse for Sai Baba’s own satisfaction is for readers and the world at large to judge. Ullrich attributes the uplift of spirits some time after it was over to some kind of Tantric energy transmission. However, other explanations do come easily to mind – such as the release of great psychological tensions engendered throughout and the well-known ‘divine salvation’ enthusiasm and the ensuing ‘spiritual honeymoon’ effect, which Sai followers get after achieving an interview so much yearned for and for so long (but which is a temporary phase, as Ullrich honestly tells, lasting only for some weeks in his case).

Not surprisingly, Ullrich was often visibly uncomfortable while relating about this with hesitations and pauses – and some confusion still as to how to understand it all. However, he also seems quite convinced about it having had a spiritual aspect. It is noteworthy that Ullrich tells how the second time Sai Baba got him to suck his penis, he stopped after a short while because he felt too awkward. While withdrawing he noticed some sudden light effect coming from Sai Baba’s penis. This seems to be a main reason why Ullrich believes there was some kind of Tantric transfer involved. The matter remains impenetrable, for it could also have been caused by the tension created by the nervously anticipated awkward situation, affecting his eyes, or possibly having some other psycho-physical cause.

Since the live video interview is very long, transcripts of portions of some of Ullrich’s statements – which are particularly important from the viewpoint of the exposé of Sai Baba’s secret and controversial doings – are given here verbatim, and without comments. They are taken out of the tediously long and involved context, which is nevertheless important for better understanding his standpoint in those interviews, (a full transcript may be added here later). He claims that his relation to Sai Baba brought about a change in somehow ‘opening up’ his personality. In some contrast to this assertion, he also says that it did not make him more genuinely spiritually liberated or give any ‘God-realisation’. He no longer believes Sai Baba can do this. Ullrich’s views may well have changed since he made the recording in 2000.
Ullrich Zimmermann (speaking about Sai Baba in the private interview room):

“So when he says that ‘always thinking about girls’ and I know and I don’t want to… … he says “Oh. Don’t worry” … … and he materialises an oil and he lifts up my T-shirt and he puts that here.” (he describes the places as “on the kundalini line”).Then he kissed me on my mouth…
“It was awkward… and it was also not disgusting.”

“He is looking at me and I know – knew – in my mind that he wanted me to suck his penis.” “and he took my hand… … to his genitals and it felt through the robe like a female with hair – there was no penis and he took my hand again and it was the male and ‘Suck finger, suck male’…”

So he pushes me down, lifts up his robe…” “His penis is… ….like from a child, no hair, small.” “And I took his penis in my mouth… …it was erect…. I had it in my mouth for a while and it was not like doing bliss, it was not like doing a big job or so – at least there was some movement but it was not like a big sexual act or so, and I didn’t feel ejaculation in my mouth… can’t give the time to the minute, maybe one and a half…”

Asked by his interviewer whether Sai Baba ejaculated, Ullrich replied: “I didn’t feel that in my mouth. If you had asked me then I would have said ‘no’ but… I think he did.” “… really very quick. Robe up and the interview was over.”
Interviewer: “Well, did you tell anyone about this, your mother?”
Ullrich: Yes. I did. .. I was in the taxi back to Bangalore… she had also heard rumours and asked me what happened but she saw me in this happy state and so I told her.. I mean she didn’t experience… view that as abuse at all. She’s a Sai Baba follower and she trusts. And of course, having such an experience I wanted to have answers. After that, talking to other people who are living in the ashram and who are there for years with my knowledge and know about these things to happen anyway – it’s happening on a really big scale.”

Interviewer: I mean, it happens every day with some – or – he has a lot of followers so he’s always doing interviews and…
Ullrich: Yeah, but I only say my experience and that is I know – I know one person in eye-to-eye who has had that happen to him, also a young German, and I talked to another person who knew a lot of other people – I mean, I talked to a lot of people…
Interviewer: But they also thought it was a good experience, or some of them were angry?
Ullrich: They were not in anger. I mean, they’re still there. (editor’s note: i.e. in year 2000) They are just confused and for some of them it presses the button more than others but for me the bottom line was what I got, it is white Tantra.

See the comments on how the news of such things affected the followers in UK in 2000 after the David Bailey news first broke there as written by the former President of the UK Organization and Central Coordinator for UK and Ireland.

PART 3 – SUMMARY-CUM-TRANSCRIPT OF THE INTERVIEW WITH ULLRICH ZIMMERMANN

bliptv2
Editor’s note: So that Ullrich’s words come across as clearly as possible, the text is partly summarized to exclude asides, verbal stumbles and some awkward phrasing in English etc., but with all his important statements reproduced verbatim within apostrophes.

Ullrich speaks firstly about the search for solutions to his spiritual desire, having known all the time that “it is something in me and not something delivered by the Church and the standard settings.”
Having rejected Sai Baba as a guru (already 7 years ago) he says that he knows “the difference between a truthful teacher and guru… The useful energy I had when I started my path, for example with Sathya Sai Baba… being lifted up but being only lifted up… and then from my sincere perspective on what is happening down there… to be empowered to empower him.”
Ullrich speaks about playing one’s part as a devotee, which requires “total focus on his person” which involves obtaining some power from him and being changed as Ullrich reports he was but, as he then says: “I also know… I was hooked with Sai baba, there was no freedom whatsoever, there was no acknowledgment of me – (no) giving the knowledge that I am actually God… that everything that is coming out of me I can generate.” Sai Baba “in no way delivered how you can actually implement that in your life.”

“What I wanted was a true spiritual change, otherwise I would never have done that. That was the reason I went there, that was the reason I had the physical experience with him I did have. And there was a change but it was, for me, confusing.”
Ullrich thought that: “If he has an interest in you, if you are a potential powerful battery… then you will get something, o.k.? But you won’t get what you are going for… your major craving for God.”
Ullrich believes instead: “You can only do it yourself, by hard work, by being impeccable in every life situation. And you can do that within the Sai Baba setting and some people do that, but you are always utterly connected to Sai Baba.”
Ullrich insists that it is “not about getting personal liberation… it is about you being part of an energy game, being abused – however you put it – for me, because I really don’t know what Sai Baba is, but he is certainly not somebody who comes from his heart. He’s somebody who is coming from a power, and it is all about power. It is not about you being really empowered, it is about you being empowered to be a powerful feeder.”
Therefore, Ullrich says: “You in your everyday life are the creator of your own reality… …ninety-nine per cent that has to come from me. I made this video … to make clear that you don’t gain that inner spiritual connection with Sai Baba – or any guru for that matter.”
Ullrich says he doesn’t believe that Sai Baba was so low as to do the sex only for his own satisfaction. Alan Steinfeld comments:”He could still be that low”. Ullrich says “O.K., well, maybe he is, but that is not my conception of it.” Then also “It’s all about power and I do see that very, very clearly.”
Ullrich reports that his spiritual teacher (Ramtha) told him twice, “You will teach Sai Baba a lesson.” Ullrich continues: “I do this interview now because I think it might help people… it is probably a way to teach Sai Baba a lesson.”
“Also, the people I know who are really followers… these are powerless people” and he holds that to keep them powerless as Sai Baba does is “to have one’s own agenda, to have an ulterior motive, not truthful.”
Ullrich: “Yes. My understanding of how energy works… a very powerful thing he set forth there. I haven’t been there for eight years or something but I talk to people who were there and they say he is getting more and more tired – having no joy in doing it, I experienced this too when I was there.”

Ullrich also saw “he had nothing to help all these people. Even though Sai Baba picks out people… it is because they are for his agenda. That is also his undoing in himself. I feel sorry for him”Alan Steinfeld: Well, what you’re saying then… even though you can materialize, appear in people… miracles, it doesn’t mean you’re spiritually evolved?”

Ullrich: “It’s just black magic, O.K.? That’s just knowledge about certain laws, the ability to gain them. And that’s very common in India, there are really unevolved beings that have a certain ability of defying what we consider to be firm, physical laws. And these physical laws are shattered, the threshold from Newton’s physics to quantum physics… if you go deeper into any subject.Summing up, Ullrich says of Sai Baba: “That is not a spiritual path… claiming to be a spiritual leader I would assume he is getting a good livelihood. He helps lots of people but there’s an agenda with it. They’re waiting to be taken out, and they’re really good people, people with integrity (Alan comments:’Sincere seekers!’). It’s like people waiting for the end of the world and thinking you will be picked up by an UFO.”

Note that the International Chairman of the Sathya Sai Organization, Dr. M. Goldstein (see ‘The Secret Swami’), denied that any sexual incidents with Sai Baba had ever taken place. This denial was again seen for what it was, a sheer and – for a doctor pretending expertise in sexual abuse – a despicable cover-up of facts. There is full proof that these abuses were known to Goldstein and many other top leaders, not least from Dr. Hislop, whose infamous circular letters to US organization leaders tried to cover up the same kind of allegations in the early 1980s. Dr. G. Venkarataman, the second-in-command of the cover-up by the Prashanthi Council whose closeness to Sai Baba and position of authority gave him every opportunity to check out the facts about Sai Baba’s large-scale homosexual activities that Ullrich [and others] say were well-known to many ashram residents.

In 2001, Prashant Kumar acting for Hari Sampath brought a petition up in the Supreme Court entitled ‘Formal Criminal complaint against Sathya Sai Baba’ (http://www.saibaba-x.org.uk/9/CBI-case-Sampath.html) The judge gave the petitioner lawyer the run around, repeatedly told the lawyers to take it to the Andhra High Court. The Judge in the AP court was a devotee and former driver of Sai Bab, which meant it would get nowhere. Judge Lahot dismissed the petition. The Supreme Court wilfully destroyed the document (to avoid foreign embassies from obtaining the proof)  yet a genuine copy was retrieved from the defence attorney, famous lawyer Kamini Jaiswal (see http://www.saibaba-x.org.uk/14/court.html)

That Sai Baba escaped conviction was due to the impossibility of charging him formally elsewhere than in India, and there he has virtual control of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh and the Supreme Court of India through his devotees who presided over them (led by The former Chief Justice of India, P.N. Bhagwati who was a long-standing worshipper of Baba and a Board member of his Central Trust), fully backed by the Indian PM, President and Home Minister, all his devotes! His totally unaccountable Sathya Sai Organization could not be sued in the US, not being registered as an organization (instead it uses a bookshop as a front for its activities).

My trustworthy inside source on Sathya Sai Baba

Posted by robertpriddy on April 30, 2018

One of my best friends among all Indians and my closest confidante among all resident staff when I was a devotee of Sai Baba was V.K. Narasimhan, who was – for most of his journalistic life – the assistant editor of The Hindu. After an illustrious career in journalist in which he alone among journalists bravely confronted Indira Gandhi over her ‘Emergency’  – culminating as Editor-in-Chief of the Indian Express Group – he followed his devotee wife to Sai Baba’s ashram, where they settled. He felt that Sai Baba’s social works were one of the best things in Andhra Pradesh at the time, since he was extremely cynical about the government and their achievements – even the will to improve the lot of anyone but their own class or caste. He did not believe Sathya Sai Baba was omniscient, omnipotent or omnipresent… nor did he believe in the miracles or the many alleged healings by Sai Baba (he was himself let down badly and lost an eye despite SB applying vibuti etc.) All this I have described at length, and I have scanned and posted many excerpts from the daily diaries I wrote during my over 1 1/2 years in the ashrams, especially my conversations with Narasimhan

It was also VKN, as he was widely known, who administered the felling blow to my faith in Sai Baba by telling me in strict confidence and a lowered voice of SB’s younger brother’s blackmailing of the police and Sai Baba’s own covered-up involvement in those events. “They did a terrible thing…” was his judgement, and the Home Minister S.B. Chavan laughed together with Sai Baba’s younger brother – a multi-millionaire property speculator and Puttaparti brother owner Janaki Ramiah – commenting “Dead men tell no tales!” Such was my faith that, even then, it took me four years to deal with the information properly and rid myself about the many confusions about Sai Baba which naturally arise before one takes the bull by the horns and allows oneself to think seriously and critically… which eventually led me to investigate the sex abuse claims. This led to utter conviction that at least a majority of the testimonies were true… little though I wished for that outcome! Knowing the details of how SB was a willing accomplice to murder and its cover-up, along with Sathya Sai Central Trust, other ashram officials and – not least – the Home Minister S.B. Chavan and then-Prime Minister Narasimha Rao, I had after VKN had safely departed this life to shoulder the heavy burden of telling the public what I knew.
