Sai Baba – mankind to blame for every natural disaster

Posted by robertpriddy on May 21, 2008

scan of quotation on calamities by Sathya Sai Baba
Sathya Sai Baba claims that ‘the Lord’ (i.e. as he has often proclaimed himself to be – here to save humanity) tests mankind through sufferings and tribulations, which the Burma cyclone and the China earthquake most certainly are.tsunamicalamity

“Many natural calamities are entirely due to man’s behaviour. Earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, wars, floods and famines and other calamities are the result of grave disorders in Nature. These disorders are traceable to man’s conduct.” (p. 290, Sanathana Sarathi, December -1992 & p. 375 – Sathya Sai Speaks, Vol. 25)

However, as is his habit, Sai Baba virtually contradicts himself, implying that calamities are acts of the Lord’s Grace (i.e his grace!): “Do not be upset by calamities; take them as acts of Grace.” (p. 27 Sathya Sai Speaks Vol. VI) for he also states: “Be assured that the Lord has come to save the world from calamity.” in Sathya Sai Speaks, Vol. 2, p. 117, in which volume he of course time and again states that he is that Lord – the Vishnu avatar returned. Fat lot of good his ‘promise’ was to the countless thousands who were trapped under ruins or starved to death and so on!

In Whitefield (13-4-1964) the self-professed all-knowing Sai Baba said “Calamities must deepen your courage, enlarge your faith, your spiritual practice must be intensified when the weather is inclement..” and more such futile ‘consolation’ to those affected by disasters. (see Sathya Sai Speaks, Vol. 4 p. 86.)

“…man, out of utter selfishness, is robbing the mother Earth of her resources like coal, petroleum, iron, etc. As a result, we find earthquakes, floods and such other devastating natural calamities.” (Sathya Sai Speaks, Volume 33 237)

“The Tsunami is the result of human behaviour. It has nothing to do with God. All this is because of what man has made of man and not because of what God has made of man. Man’s thoughts are responsible for all this. We must not consider it as God’s Prasadam.” (Divine Discourse “Do not exploit Nature without seeking the Grace of God.” Summer Course in Spirituality and Indian Culture – May 1973, Brindavan)

“Suffering and misery are the inescapable acts of the cosmic drama. God does not decree these calamities but man invites them by way of retribution for his own evil deeds. This is corrective punishment which induces mankind to give up the wrong path and return to the right path”(Sathya Sai Baba in 1976, recorded by Samuel Sandweiss in Spirit and the Mind. San Diego: Birth Day Publishing Co., 1985, p. 237)

Thus he absolves himself – or God – from all responsibility for any catastrophes or anything else bad. It is all our own fault! This is truly primitive God propaganda, devoid of all scientific knowledge.

The earth’s cool liquid soft-centre – Sai Baba’s “wisdom”

Posted by robertpriddy on September 3, 2007

Journey to the Centre of the Earth?
Jules Verne was an imaginative writer, imagining a hollow earth. Now Sathya Sai Baba has seriously debunked that theory!

From Dr. John Hislop’s book
scanned quotation from ‘Conversations with Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba’ by Dr. John Hislop

Mrs. Robert Bozzani (Rb) put the first questions, after Sai had made his ‘mystical statement’ out of the blue (i.e. “At the centre everything is liquid”).  His explanation is the kind of absurdity that Sathya Sai Baba conveys to his students. One must ask how such untrue fantasy can be deemed worthy of any university anywhere. He assures Bozzani that the teaching of all courses at the University will be like that! He identifies chemistry with liquids and physics with solids… most amusing. His ignorant legend-stuffed villager mentality is to the fore here. But his students surely understand far more of the real “full picture” of science better than he does, even before they start their higher studies!

In the 1980s, the Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning was granted the status of being a “deemed University” by Madhuri Shah, devotee and Chairperson of the University Grants Commission. This strange status (not a full university, it seems) was an attempt to raise it closer to the status India‘s other centres of Higher Learning.

Magnetic farce – Sai Baba stuck to the ground?

Posted by robertpriddy on August 24, 2007

man’s magnet radiation

This magnetism “does not come from anywhere outside” but then it is in temples? Sathya Sai Baba made one of his most hilariously absurd claims when he said that Mother Earth was so attracted to his magnetic feet that he could not lift them. [In fact, he had a serious hip problem which he was trying to cover up, until it collapsed entirely]. His magnetism, he said, was so strong his hands stuck to everything! He claims that the golden egg-shaped ‘lingam’ he pretends to materialize in his stomach and which he makes a great show of painfully vomiting forth on the Night of Shiva (‘Shivarathri’ – usually in February) resulted from all the gold in his body ‘churning and churning’. He attributed this to his hugely increased magnetic power (though gold does not magnetise, though he evidently believes it does). Later he tried to extract himself from the laughing stocks into which he had locked himself.

“Worldly magnets attract only iron filings whereas the Divine magnetic power attracts the entire world. (prolonged applause)” (Sanathana Sarathi , April ’03., p.122)

He is still very confused about what is physical and what is divine magnetism. But at Mahashivarathri 2002 he said that magnetic power is ONLY in Divinity (clearly meaning himself, the one whose feet and hands are all stuck up) and then, a year later (16/3/2003) that magnetic power is in everyone and, as seen above, even in flowers and fruit). In earlier discourses, such as on Mahashivarathri, March 13, 2002, for example, he said:

“Since the last two days, in order for this Linga to be formed, My whole body became magnetic.” Also “Even the rivers flow, clinging to the earth, due to the magnetism of the earth. Even the wind blows due to magnetic power. Magnetism is pervading everywhere. All the flowers and fruits that they offer are full of magnetism. So, this magnetic power, which is all-pervading, is shining in that temple. When so many thousands of devotees enter, this magnetism increases day-by-day. It will not decrease.
When a small iron piece is kept near a magnet, after a few days even that iron piece will become a magnet. So the individuals who enter into the temple and the things that they offer are all full of magnetism. Therefore, from where did the great powers of the temple arise? It comes from the magnetic power brought from the devotees. Hence, every individual fully has this magnetism.
It is this Divine power that arises in temples, attracts all individuals and also reveals all powers. This magnetism contains Divine power. It is said that magnetism is a temple’s nature. In science, they feel that it is pieces of magnet. They call it materialist magnet. This magnetism (Divine power) is shining in every single human being.”

“So when I put My foot down, the whole foot stuck to the ground. It is a little hard to lift a foot that is stuck. Wherever I walk, it sticks there. Whatever is held, it sticks to My hand. This magnet is not in everyone like this. This magnet is so powerful only in Divinity.” See Discourse on Shivarathri Day March 13

He has surely heard that the earth has a magnetic field with North and South magnetic poles? He seems to imagine this is what drags on his feet, or vice-versa. If this had been so, then his food would stick in his gullet and throughout his body. He says he lifts one foot by his ‘divine will (sankalpa)’ despite the massive force, but meanwhile the other one sticks to the ground. But it is unadvisable to lift both feet off the ground simultaneously. Well, this walking in a sea of tar is all entertaining comical Godswallop! The mystery is how apparently intelligent people can swallow it without losing faith in him!The magnetism got so powerful in May 2003 that it pulled him hard down to his bathroom floor and broke his apparently osteo-arthritic hip, so his will (i.e. ‘sankalpa‘) was not enough, it seems. He had to be operated by doctors in hospital and stop giving darshan!

More rubbishing of geophysical science by Sathya Sai Baba – the self-named “Omniscient, Omnipotent, Omnipresent Incarnation of God the Creator”. Since there are earthquakes, the earth is too heavy on one side, he implies? Who or what removes material from one side, though? Since Sai Baba has made crystal clear (see here) that earthquakes are due to human moral failings, then humans must be the culprits. [Perhaps he thinks it is because of the exporting of masses of raw materials? Who can tell?] But, then, there have been earthquakes for millions of years before humans walked the earth. As Spike Milligan and Peter Sellers used to say: “It’s all rather confusing really!”

So how is Sathya Sai Baba – who has stated that he alone has come now to save the world from disaster – going to right the balance and bring the earth back to normal, if that is the real problem? (If!). He is bound to his wheelchair or golf buggy all day, for a start. Aha! Do not be deceived (as he says) this little man is not what you see, for ‘He’ the One who keeps the planets in their orbits, and no doubt also the stars in their courses too, dontcha know? Now what I find REALLY amazing is that, after the exposure of all this repeated drivel, Indian Prime Ministers, Presidents, High Court judges and many Indian, US and even a few Danish professors, supposedly therefore of some level of learning, can continue to believe in Sai Baba! Above all, it is a disgrace that the Indian people should be told formally by their rulers that Sai bab – a widely-accused sex abuser, whose claim to be God is actually illegal by Indian law – is one of India’s ‘National Treasures’.
“The earth is spherical”, he reveals to us – now, not many people know that.
