Sathya Sai Baba descended to ‘save India’

Posted by robertpriddy on September 3, 2008

So far the self-proclaimed avatar of Vishnu, Sathya Sai Baba of Puttaparthi, cannot be seen to have done more than a minimal amount to save India and uplift her poor and their vast sufferings, as he has promised long since. Only then, he has proclaimed, will he proceed to save the rest of humanity from world disaster (so THAT will have to wait a LONG time, it appears).

Quotation of [prediction made by Sathya Sai Baba to John Hislop

Quotation of [prediction made by Sathya Sai Baba to John Hislop

Let us glance briefly at how current events illustrate the on-going failure to save the poor of India from disasters. With all the excitement in Indian about recent economic growth and the production of the world’s cheapest car, the  Nano by Tata Industries, the continuing calamitous state of India’s masses tends to be overlooked. Currently there are the worst known floods in India in Bihar (note: Sai Baba claims to be able to turn back floods and rain) – as well as serious  religious conflicts with killings (East India) and a state of unrest and violence in Kashmir again.

Economic boom no benefit to millions of poor: The very prominent Indian journalist and Executive Editor of the critical Tekelka weekly, Sankarshan Thakur, was interviewed on BBC World News, 3/9/2008. He was asked if the Indian economic boom and globalization were helping raise the poor of India, which he denied, saying that nothing of the Indian economic boom has filtered down to the poor. He adds that politicians in India are never held to account for their mistakes

Thakur is known for incisive reporting and is considered by some Indian journalists to be one of the finest exponents of print journalism in the country and an expert on backward Bihar State. He is the author of “The Making of Laloo Yadav, The Unmaking of Bihar”, where he showed incisively how thousands of crores of central government development funds directed to Bihar are unused, year after year. The comptroller and auditor general of India laments this as criminal, but nobody could do a thing. The poor, unlettered and backward citizens of Bihar [there are 100 million Biharis in India] are being kept in primitive agricultural poverty without development or progress in technological benefits.

My purpose here is not to descry the various benefits that have accrued to the Indian poor and suffering, nor even to rich Indians, for that matter, through donations to the Sathya Sai Central Trust (mostly foreign). My point is entirely to show that the monstrous claims of being the returning Avatar of Vishnu, Rama and Krishna come to save humanity and transform India and the world is entirely bogus to the point of absurdity, when the facts about how limited are the improvements due to Sathya Sai Baba’s movement. I am not beguiled by vast flights of fancy so common among devotees about what Sai Baba may or may not perhaps be doing on supposed ‘astral levels’ or miraculously far beyond the ken of human minds. I refer to demonstrable benefits (even when disregarding the damage he has done to very many persons who have left him contacted me, or whose personal accounts I have read).

Global disaster predicted – or not?

Posted by robertpriddy on June 26, 2008

At Ootacamund in Karnataka in the 1970s, Sathya Sai Baba is reported by various Indian devotee parents of eighteen (very frightened) students there as having made a large number of predictions about a coming global catastrophe. These predictions were similar in several respects to those made by Edgar Cayce and numerous others since. The globe as it may appear has been presented as something like the illustration shows:-Possible changes to the earth after catastrophe

One list made after the allegedly coming events, which were widely and sometimes insistently claimed by some ashramites to actually have been made to their sons (some of whom were crying and fearful when they told their parents), were circulated constantly for over a decade or more without Sathya Sai Baba having stopped the mill or refuted a single word. (If he did not know about the anxiety created, then he lied about being omniscience). If he did know, then it was convenient for him… the anxiety to urge people to secure themselves places at the ashrams with donations etc. to be safe from the catastrophe.

Only when the hysteria reached potentially damaging proportions (for his name and credibility) after his officials had repeatedly asked him to comment – in early 1991 – did Sathya Sai Baba eventually deny the catastrophe predictions he had allegedly made. Why would he have made them to young students? One likely hypothesis is that it was one of his oft-reported ways of cowing them so they would fear to speak out about such matters as the constant genital molestations which are so widely reported, even confirmed and defended by a series of leading office-bearers in his Organisation. There are numerous documented examples of his acting so as to create fear in his officials, students and other followers. One can read the full prophesies here and see a scan of the paper most circulated for 15 years here.

The claims that the predictions actually came from Sathya Sai Baba are reinforced by the fact of his other similar predictions in public, as noted above. These new ‘warnings’ also served to induce people to ‘buy into’ the ashrams where they assume they will be under divine protection from any such dangers (but get no property rights or guarantees whatever in return).

Burma cyclone and China earthquake – Sai Baba’s views

Posted by robertpriddy on May 21, 2008

What is Sathya Sai Baba’s view on the huge current natural catastrophes in China and Burma, one may ask?
The answer is to be found in a large number of statements by him on the cause of earthquakes and calamities. Though his translator sometimes calls them ‘natural calamities’, Sai Baba is definitive that they are the result of human actions!
 See some quotes here:-

scan of quotation on calamities by Sathya Sai Baba   Scan of quotation by Sathya Sai Baba about man causing all natural disasters!

Amazingly (to anyone with a smattering of scientific knowledge) he says this specifically of earthquakes and the 2004 tsunamiOne should recall that top Indian politicians – PMs and Presidents – worship Sai Baba and thus accept his claim to be the omniscient, omnipotent avatar of Lord Vishnu come to save humanity. Amazing as this may seem since the worldwide exposure since 1999 of his decades of carefully-hidden frauds and many known and demonstrated abuses, they visit him for his blessings and ostensibly to advance his aims.

Sathya Sai Baba photo

How can they even remotely quietly condone such ignorance and religious superstition as the claims that ALL natural catastrophes (eg. cyclones, earthquakes and tsunamis) are caused by “spiritual lapses of mankind” the man’s bad conduct?  They cannot worship him and at the same time reject central parts of his doctrine. The fact is, his popularity in Andhra Pradesh, not least among millions of Indian villagers, and the huge wealth he has attracted from abroad are not the only reasons they visit him. Indian PMs and Presidents have knelt before him and protected him from any prosecution. His influence over the judiciary and many prominent Indians is such that politicians do not dare to take him on, as would be only right and proper. See some of the main culprit India bigwigs here.

Sai Baba as the Islamic Saviour ‘Mahdi’?

Posted by robertpriddy on October 11, 2007

Iran Pres. at UNIran and Baba

Sathya Sai Baba has been heralded as the Islamic messiah, the Mahdi and much has been written to try to prove he is ‘the one’. Indeed, this extremely inauthenticated text is publicised in a faked translation of Persian prophetic texts in Sai Baba’s self-glorifying Chaitanya Jyoti museum at Prashanthi Nilayam. Yet it would be difficult, if not impossible to find Sai Baba accepted as the Mahdi (much less accepted at all) by prominent religious-political Islamic figures, not least those who accept the notion of the foretold appearance of the Mahdi. One report noted that President Ahmadinejad at the U.N. General Assembly on September 26, 2007 again did as he had done the previous year in the same venue; opened his speech by praying to Allah to “hasten the arrival of Imam al-Mahdi….” “the promised one,” the one who “will fill this world with justice and peace.” Wisely, he did not mention the fuller revelation, that the Madhi would come at the end of time and a great apcocalypse would ensue).

The Mahdi claims wrote off Ahmadinejad as a primitive kind of Shiite believer. Yet this belief has been – and still is – widely encountered in the history of the Islamic world, probably as widespread as is that of the Second Coming of Christ and the Judgement Day of the Book of Revelations. Such apocalyptic visions are also part and parcel of Hinduism, and Sathya Sai Baba also dabbled in various apocalyptic scenarios of this type. Here are a few excerpts from reports on Ahmadinejad’s “vision” at the U.N., which is strangely reminiscent and alarmingly similar to statements he has made about his personal role in ushering in the return of the Shiite Muslim messiah:- “On the last day when I was speaking, one of our group told me that when I started to say ‘Bismillah Muhammad,’ he saw a green light come from around me, and I was placed inside this aura,” he says. “I felt it myself. I felt that the atmosphere suddenly changed, and for those 27 or 28 minutes, all the leaders of the world did not blink. When I say they didn’t move an eyelid, I’m not exaggerating. They were looking as if a hand was holding them there, and had just opened their eyes – Alhamdulillah!”

The next, more public venue for Khameini’s mouthpiece was the now-famous Columbia University speech, in which he proclaimed that there was no homosexuality in Iran, courting the helpless laughter of the large and well-educated audience. Ahmadinejad began his talk by praying for Allah to “hasten the arrival of Imam al-Mahdi.” Yet no one, in the ensueing Q & A, bothered to ask him about this! Shi`ism’s self-styled spokesman tried to garner favor with his audience by reminding them that he is an academic himself and still teaches university students. One commentator (see Link below) wrote: “Ahmadi-nezhad broke new theological ground, even within Shia Islam, by claiming that not only would the Mahdi come, but that Allah himself will arrive with Moses and Christ and Muhammad to rule the world.” This was allowed to “pass without investigation, because the moderators were unprepared—or perhaps simply uncomfortable—with it.” From Everybody’s Got Something to Hide, Except for Me and the Mahdi

“He sees his main mission, as he recounted in a Nov. 16 speech in Tehran, as to “pave the path for the glorious reappearance of Imam Mahdi, may Allah hasten his reappearance.” “People are anxious to know when and how will He rise; what they must do to receive this worldwide salvation,” says Ali Lari, a cleric at the Bright Future Institute in Iran’s religious center of Qom: “The timing is not clear, but the conditions are more specific,” he adds. “There is a saying: ‘When the students are ready, the teacher will come.’”  Ahmadinejad and others in Iran are deadly serious about the imminent return of the 12th imam, who will prompt a global battle between good and evil – with striking parallels to biblical accounts of “Armageddon.”” (WorldNetDaily: Iran prepares people for ‘messiah miracles’ )

Comment: The above saying about the teacher’s coming closely reflects what Sathya Sai Baba has stated about himself, that he is the Universal teacher come to save humanity. He is hailed as the Mehdi Mou’d by Zeba Bashiruddin, a Moslem teacher at his women’s college in Anantapur, near to his Puttaparthi ashram, and who he has made efforts to persuade (Shiite) Muslims to accept him. Like Ali Lari (above). Sai Baba has also said: When the soil is ready, the seed appears from somewhere! The Spiritual guru will be alerted and the thirst will get quenched.” (Sathya Sai Baba in Sathya Sai Vahini, p. 97. SSB Books and Publications Trust)

GODS OF GODS ABOVE ALL GODS – SATHYA SAI?

Posted by robertpriddy on September 6, 2007

The One God of all religions?

Even if you believe only half you hear, you are in deep trouble with the following claims by Sai Baba. Will he go down in history as the Saviour of Mankind from global disaster (as he claims) and human evil? If so, he would necessarily displace Jesus Christ and Christianity, Jehova and Judaism, Buddha and Buddhism, Islam and Allah and Whoever and Whatever? One must certainly hope not – if only for the sake of human rationality and progress in empowering people to improve their lot and that of the world rather than become fixated in prayer to God and his traditional “teachings” about fate and the futility of worldly engagements. His many deceptions – so firmly demonstrated here and elsewhere – and his bogus  “universal religion” are accepted by a long line of Indian Presidents and Prime Ministers – and also by those of today and much of the Indian Government! It is an enigma… for can they truly believe in the following words of Sathya Sai Baba? They must… or else they’d have to view him as a megalomaniac.

“I am all deities in one. You may endeavour your best for thousands of years and have all mankind with you in your search. But you cannot understand My Reality.”US ed. of Kasturi’s Sathyam Sivam Sundaram Vol 3 page 315)

“There was no one to understand Me until I created the whole world”(Official biographer N. Kasthuri’s direct quote in ‘Pathway to Peace’ p. 64.)

Sathya Sai Baba said in 1968: “This is a human form in which every Divine entity, every Divine principle, that is to say, all the names and forms ascribed by man to God, are manifest… You are very fortunate that you have the chance to experiences the bliss of the vision of the form, which is the form of all gods, now, in this life itself.”(Sathya Sai Speaks Volume VIII. page 99f)

“God can do anything. He has all power in the palm of His Hand. My Body, like all other bodies, is a temporary habitation; but, My Power is eternal, all-pervasive, ever-dominant.”Christmas Day Discourse, Bombay 1970. ed. of Kasturi’s Sathyam Sivam Sundaram Vol 3 page 136)

“On previous occasions when God incarnated on earth, the bliss of recognising Him in the incarnation was vouchsafed only after the physical embodiment had left the world, in spite of plenty of evidences of His Grace. But, ponder a moment on this Sathya Sai Manifestation; in this age of rampant materialism, aggressive disbelief and irreverence, what is it that brings to It the adoration of millions from all over the world? You will be convinced that the basic reason for this is the fact that this is the Supra-worldly Divinity in Human Form.” (Sathya Sai Baba 17/5/1968. Sathya Sai Speaks Vol. 8, p 100)

“If I had come as Narayana with four arms, they would have put me in a circus, charging money for people to see Me. If I had come only as a man, like any other man, who would listen to me? So I had to come in this human form but with more than the human power and wisdom.”(US ed. of Kasturi’s Sathyam Sivam Sundaram -Vol 3 page 309)

Further, on the task of the revival of dharma, he says “… who has to take it up? It was said that I have taken up this Form in answer to the prayers of sadhus (noble souls) and others… I have come, because I felt I had to come. I resolved upon this… This campaign will succeed, it will not fail. The welfare of the world will be ensured through the fostering of the Godly everywhere, and more particularly of these ancient reservoirs of the ancient wisdom of this land.”(Sathya Sai Speaks Vol. 3, page 205)

“The Lord is the refuge of all who seek refuge, the saviour of all who have to be saved. He is the Embodiment of Being-Awareness-Bliss (Sat-chit-ananda). He is now at Puttaparthi as the Effulgent Emperor over the region of Truth, Goodness and Beauty.” (Sathya Sai Speaks Vol. XIII, p 114)

“When dharma declines or rather, when those who have a duty to regulate their lives according to dharma lose faith in it, then, its restoration cannot be taken up by all and sundry… The Lord has come again on this Mission. He has collected the engineers and contractors and the labour for this purpose. He is not set on the task.”Let me tell you one more thing: Nothing can impede or halt the work of this Avathaara… Formerly when the Govardhanagiri (mountain) was raised aloft by a little boy, the gopis and gopalas realised that Krishna was the Lord. Now, it is not one Govardhanagiri, a whole range will be lifted, you will see!” (Sathya Sai Speaks Vol. 3, p. 106)

Sathya Sai Baba made it up as he went along

Posted by robertpriddy on August 27, 2007

Hillcoat on Rita Bruce - Russian forum

Sathya Sai Baba heralded in “The Golden Age” of mankind and jumped the gun several times. (see The Golden Age (Sathya Yuga)  or here, or  here.) He supposed himself to be the precursor of such an age, and – as often documented – it will begin by his reforming India completely first, then the rest of the world. Sai Baba has told people on occasion that a great shift in human consciousness will come – he did so before the millennium (but nothing happened, not even the millennium bug – thereafter Twin Towers and the war on terror began).

Rumours circulated by Sathya Sai Baba at regular intervals of big changes coming (sometimes disasterous ones!) kept devotees in suspense and/or hope for the future, and still does with those in deep denial of his crimes. Remaining devotees are  incapable of looking back across all the failed predictions and direct lies Sai Baba perpetrated over the decades. For example, the New Zealand devotees, Poppy and Arthur Hillcoat, visited Cherepovets Russia in May, 2005. Poppy said she saw Rita and Robert Bruce just before leaving for Russia, and – as reported on the Russian Forum (screen capture above) – was told by them (LITERAL TRANSLATION):

“Yes, exactly they are. At the conference Rita and Robert conducted a one-day workshop of ‘parenting school’ and a workshop on ‘family and marriage’.
I do not remember exact titles. And it was Rita Bruce whom Swami told about practically instant transformation of people’s consciousness after his 80th anniversary.”

(The infamous ‘Hislop letters’ on sexual abuses of young men by Sai Baba were sent to US Sai-VIPs including Robert and Rita Bruce! Both are in total denial of all the facts they have encountered but ignored so as to “keep their faith”) continues to mislead people around the world by repeating truly absurd claims made to her by Sai Baba in the privacy of the interview room.

Sathya Sai Baba had the stick by the wrong end

It is most likely true, as Herbert Marcuse has said, that “A prerequisite of social transformation is the emergence of a new consciousness” But this did not happen as predicted after the 80th Birthday (of course), nor after his death in 2011. It can only be a gradual process along with diverse social changes, proper economic planning to lift people from poverty, sickness, ignorance and not least also superstitious beliefs and spiritual guru-dependencies. It will surely require very much increased national and also personal ‘green awareness’ and action on the very pressing issues of ecology, over-exploitation of natural resources, pollution of the earth, air and water and climate change (global warming).
Maneka Gandhi,Vandana Shiva, Arundati Roy still remain far too peripheral to Indian policy-making. Sathya Sai Baba’s contribution to raising awareness of ecological issues is minimal and mostly ill-informed – claiming that the inner workings of Divinity are where it all happens – as already noted on this blogsite.

Sai Baba prophesies he will lift “a whole range of mountains”!

Posted by robertpriddy on August 11, 2007

govardhanakrishnaHanuman’s exploitsmoregovardhana

As one can see from the quotations below, Sathya Sai Baba continually repeated the fantastical mythical events from Indian scripture as being historical fact. This is but one of many statements he made where he presented what are ‘stories’, myths and legends in a way which lead his uneducated and unsuspecting countrymen to believe in them as literally true. He spoke of Krishna’s lifting a mountain to protect his devotees from a flood of rain as historical fact! Worse than that, he made the famous statement in a discourse – published and checked by himself – that he too would lift – not one but a whole range of mountains:-
SaiToLiftMountains

When dharma declines or rather, when those who have a duty to regulate their lives according to dharma lose faith in it, then, its restoration cannot be taken up by all and sundry… The Lord has come again on this Mission. Now, it is not one Govardhanagiri , a whole range will be lifted, you will see!” (Sathya Sai Speaks Vol. 3, p. 92 – new edition)

Indeed, we have seen that this did not happen! Some are still waiting for him to come back and do it, poor souls!

GLOBAL WARMING OR GLOBAL WOBBLING?

Posted by robertpriddy on August 10, 2007

PAGE OF JOURNAL

More rubbishing of geophysical science by Sathya Sai Baba – the self-named “Omniscient, Omnipotent, Omnipresent Incarnation of God the Creator”. Since there are earthquakes, the earth is too heavy on one side, he implies? Who or what removes material from one side, though? Since Sai Baba has made crystal clear (see here) that earthquakes are due to human moral failings, then humans must be the culprits. [Perhaps he thinks it is because of the exporting of masses of raw materials? Who can tell?] But, then, there have been earthquakes for millions of years before humans walked the earth. As Spike Milligan and Peter Sellers used to say: “It’s all rather confusing really!”

So how is Sathya Sai Baba – who has stated that he alone has come now to save the world from disaster – going to right the balance and bring the earth back to normal, if that is the real problem? (If!). He is bound to his wheelchair or golf buggy all day, for a start. Aha! Do not be deceived (as he says) this little man is not what you see, for ‘He’ the One who keeps the planets in their orbits, and no doubt also the stars in their courses too, dontcha know? Now what I find REALLY amazing is that, after the exposure of all this repeated drivel, Indian Prime Ministers, Presidents, High Court judges and many Indian, US and even a few Danish professors, supposedly therefore of some level of learning, can continue to believe in Sai Baba! Above all, it is a disgrace that the Indian people should be told formally by their rulers that Sai bab – a widely-accused sex abuser, whose claim to be God is actually illegal by Indian law – is one of India’s ‘National Treasures’.
“The earth is spherical”, he reveals to us – now, not many people know that.

Creationism, God the Creator

Posted by robertpriddy on June 18, 2007

In the two-part film ‘The Aura of Divinity’ by Richard Bock (ca. 1976) about Sai Baba, he is there reported as having said: “Today evil is so widespread that humanity would be destroyed in a nuclear holocaust in the event of a world war.It is to prevent such a catastrophe that this avatar has come to raise human consciousness and save the world from disaster.” Aura of Divinity, Part One.

When Sai Baba was asked how the universe was created, he spoke of the eternal divine principle: “There was no one to know who I am till I created this world at my pleasure with one word. Immediately, mountains rose up. Immediately, rivers started running, earth below and sky overhead. Oceans, seas, land and watershed. Sun moon and desert sand came up from nowhere to prove My existence. Then came all forms of mankind, animals, birds… hearing, speaking and flying. The first place went to man and My knowledge was put into his mind.” from ‘The Aura of Divinity’ Part Two.

See also scan from Kasturi’s ‘Loving God’ where Sai Baba corrected his translator Kasturi claiming he was not just the creator of the world but was the Creator of the Universe

It so happens that the above words were voiced by Prof. N. Kasturi, Sathya Sai’s official biographer. They are actually a selectively edited (bastardised) version of an important part of the Veda, which are scriptures of great antiquity claimed by most Indian spiritual leaders to be at least 10,000 years old. If so they predate not only the Bible, but also the biblical (and the Kentucky Creationist Museum) account of the Creation (supposedly only 6,000 years ago).

That Sathya Sai Baba was a creationist, and held that he was the Creator Himself is beyond any question as it is published in the book of his official biographer, Professor N. Kasturi. The scan above on the right is from the biography of his close devotee. Kasturi, who summed up the extent of SB’s claims of Godhead.

…in a discourse, Baba said: “It is beyond you to know how or why I create things. The objects that I create, I create them by my will, the same way I created the universe.Quoted in ‘The Week’ 27th November, 20065. (NOTE: ‘Beyond you’ here referreds to Mr. H. Narasimhaiah, the former Vice Chancellor of the Bangalore University, who has requested for an interview so as to check the facts about how Sai Baba created things.)

Bt comparison, the world’s first creationist museum in Kentucky is small beer, but worth noting. It claims:
Remember, before the sin of Adam, the world was perfect. All creatures were vegetarian.” Yes, Tyrannosaurus rex was vegetarian and lived beside humans. Grand Canyon park guides state that the canyon took more than a million years to form and cuts through rocks that span more than a billion years. “Young Earth” creationists say no to that, saying the rocks were all left behind by flood waters at the time of Noah. Admitting the Bible does not mention dinosaurs as such, Ken Ham supposes that dinosaurs were still around at the time of the flood. He figures that two of each may have been taken onto the Ark (newly hatched ones which are fairly small). But he thinks Noah did not carry kangaroos to Australia because the flood waters caused the continents to drift apart very fast. Mr Marsh considers the fossilised remains of man’s ancestors to be falsifications: “There are no such things. Humans are basically as you see them today. Those skeletons they’ve found, what’s the word? They could have been deformed, diseased or something. I’ve seen people like that running round the streets of New York.”
