Sathya Sai Baba on Moses’ love for Jesus!

Posted by robertpriddy on January 23, 2010

What more can one say?

What more can one possibly add?

The self-heralded “omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent Godhead” Sathya Sai Baba is in a state of omni-confusion, at least as regards historical time!

Moses used to think of Jesus all the time. As a result, his face shone with divine effulgence. He resembled Jesus so much that people used to mistake him for Jesus.(25.3.1999.  Sanathana Sarathi Vol.42, #5,p.116)

Which people mistook Moses for Jesus, one wonders? So far no a single remaining Sathya Sai Baba follower has commented on this in any way…. and it is easy to see why!

This is one of the most amusing of the huge blunders the self-professed “omniscient” Sathya Sai Baba has made about Jesus Christ. To view some more of them, please click to visit this page

Sai Baba and the lunatic fringe

Posted by robertpriddy on September 20, 2007

Lissen is clairvoyant and an artist, but she does not wish to waste energy by interfering in God’s work, so she began to eat again. (Photo: Kristian Linnemann)

Sai Baba saved Lissen, who once lived only on light!

Under the title ‘Brown rice is the new light’ Michael Jeppersen of the Danish National Newspaper Ekstra Bladet  [17. sep. 2007] describes his meeting with a Danish Sai Baba follower called Lissen Seligmann.
Apropos, the Danish Sathya Sai Organization, led by Thorbjørn Meyer of Handelshøyskole in Copenhagen, has been propagandising for visits to Sathya Sai Baba for many years. Here is a report on one result of such a visit:

Journalist Jeppersen joined a Biodynamic Consumer meeting in Copenhagen’s Fredriksberg, sat in a circle where participants presented themselves. One was an Indian man who does not eat, drink or sleep. Another was Judith who still does not eat, but unfortunately has fallen ill.  Others have tried to live without food or drink, others would like to, and one went over ‘into the light’ four days previously.
Lissen Seligmann began by telling of the advantages of not eating. One saves money, one needs no breaks for urinating, no more stomach aches, anorexia etc., an advantage to agriculture and the fishing industry and no more hunger in Africa.

Saved by Sai Baba
Lissen told of her life, educated in business, she got psychic problems then physical problems, then she was saved by the Indian guru Sai Baba. “But if he had been a pedofile, then he would not have had the aura he has, so that’s that” she said suddenly somewhat excited. When she came back from India she began feeding on light for the first time, learning how from a book by Jasmuheen, who lives from small light particles in the air. (The Australian ‘60 Minutes’ TV team, however, monitored Jasmuheen for 3 days when she had to have medical aid).

Feeding on light and meeting angels
Lissen first had classic symptoms of not eating or drinking: her vision blacking out, a bad taste in her mouth, a desire for fat food, sore legs etc. On the fourth day she met two angels who was shovelling coal into a fire. She asked why they had no wings. They replied: Wings, they are of course for galas.
On the ninth day she passed a kidney stone while urinating in the bath. She held out for 3 months until she got to know that she should begin to eat again. Quite simply, she met Sai Baba and a locomotive which drove round five and a half times, and that was that! What happened afterwards is the interesting bit. In March, Lissen stopped eating again but she suddenly had a compulsion to burp, just as when she had been a child! She discovered that the pains in her mucus membrane was frozen tears and that her eye problems came from watching TV and reading.

Then on April 18th, Lissen had a dream where she learned that she should eat brown rice. Two weeks later she dreamed of a mongrel bloodhound which howled. Her burping compulsion came of that, it was all connected. The hound was bloody, it was old karma, so it was washed and improved. Lissen pointed to her forehead “It is the forehead chackra which makes me a dirty mongrel”…And so on, wrote Jeppersen… until the break. Everyone clapped!
“I am letting it continue” said Lissen, and pointed towards the loft.

Other members of this fanatical lunatic fringe include Lisa de Witt, who claims to have communications from Shirdi Sai Baba, Sathya Sai Baba and Jesus… plus angels. She is the supporter and ‘colleague in ignorant and obsessional denial about Sai Baba’s failings’ of Gerald Joe Moreno, who believes Sathya Sai Baba is at least on a par with Jesus, also with Swami Premananda (in prison under two life sentences for rape and murder, confirmed after appeal to the Supreme Court of India) – all for Moreno qualifying as being ‘vishvarupa’ or incarnations of the Divine (see his http:/// site). Moreno is also a believer in the holy power of mandalas (which he produced with IT software and calls ‘art’), the power of crystals (and here he falsely identifies as being what is actually a plain glass ring-holder photographed on my mantlepiece which he has copied and annotated). He also firmly believes he was visited in the flesh by Sathya Sai Baba in his bedroom at night in New Mexico, when Sai Baba was demonstrably in India. (He was paralysed at the time and in great fear – symptom of narcolepsy).  Finally, he denies that Sathya Sai Baba having oiled his “lower stomach” in private in the inner interview room was not a case of sexual molestation, though that act fulfils all the requirements of sexual abuse under Indian (and foreign) law. Moreno has many other ‘lunatic fringe’ traits, such as believing that ‘holy nectar’ (amrit) is unearthly and is manifested by Sathya Sai Baba (as he believes many other objects are).

Miracle: Sai Baba spews out 3 tons of gold: he says

Posted by robertpriddy on August 25, 2007

Vomit causes breakdown

Sathya Sai Baba made a preposterous statement: (Anil Kumar’s translation directly after Sai Baba’s words in Telugu): “Out of the stomach emanated Shiva Lingas of the weight of three tonnes. That’s the reason why some strain on the face and the body.” see the BBC on the failed lingodbhava of Feburary 2004 (photos here) video clip also Sai Baba’s collapse and exit transcript and video clip of his famous explanation here)

Sai sicks up - no lingam

But no strain on his hand when he took it from the towel? He must have been VERY strong… but then God IS very strong, isn’t it?
No strain on the wooden table either…  Is there something a wee bit fishy and porky about Sai Baba’s explanation?

It was claimed that there were three lingams in all, one which we saw which came from his hanky, two more he was said to have ‘regurgitated’ in a private room after stumbling off stage! (Really!) Was that ONLY three tons? It’s all so hard to get to the bottom of this somehow… but then it was hard for the world-famous magician Houdini’s public to understand how he had invented the egg-regurgitating trick too!

So how could the Divine Will at the 2004 Shivarathri lingodbhava falter? Why did it all go pear-shaped in public? Was it a Divine Glitch? Or a “Divine test of credulity”?  A sudden reversal of polarity in the Divine Magnetic Power? Or was it that the lingam stuck in Sai Baba’s “magnetic” body somewhere along the line?

Last but not least, you could enter the world-wide competition to provide the solution – please post your answers in a plain brown envelope! Be the goose that lays that golden egg…

In his discourse after the Shivarathri lingodbhava two years previously (13/3/2002), Sai Baba stated: “(Showing the golden Linga to the devotees, Swami said). “As you can all see, this Linga is rather bigger in size. There is a meaning behind this. This is five Tolas in weight. [one Tola is 11.66 grams. 5 Tolas = about 60.0 grams] Every human being possesses five Tolas of gold essence known as Hiranyagarbha… Gold represents energy in man and is the cause of his radiance. The gold content within each body is this size only. It is gold essence in the body that makes the eyes see, ears hear etc.” (Sanathana Sarathi – April 2002, p. 127)
However, the human body cannot possibly contain so much gold! In Wikipedia we find that the amount of gold in the human body is vanishingly tiny

Magnetic farce – Sai Baba stuck to the ground?

Posted by robertpriddy on August 24, 2007

man’s magnet radiation

This magnetism “does not come from anywhere outside” but then it is in temples? Sathya Sai Baba made one of his most hilariously absurd claims when he said that Mother Earth was so attracted to his magnetic feet that he could not lift them. [In fact, he had a serious hip problem which he was trying to cover up, until it collapsed entirely]. His magnetism, he said, was so strong his hands stuck to everything! He claims that the golden egg-shaped ‘lingam’ he pretends to materialize in his stomach and which he makes a great show of painfully vomiting forth on the Night of Shiva (‘Shivarathri’ – usually in February) resulted from all the gold in his body ‘churning and churning’. He attributed this to his hugely increased magnetic power (though gold does not magnetise, though he evidently believes it does). Later he tried to extract himself from the laughing stocks into which he had locked himself.

“Worldly magnets attract only iron filings whereas the Divine magnetic power attracts the entire world. (prolonged applause)” (Sanathana Sarathi , April ’03., p.122)

He is still very confused about what is physical and what is divine magnetism. But at Mahashivarathri 2002 he said that magnetic power is ONLY in Divinity (clearly meaning himself, the one whose feet and hands are all stuck up) and then, a year later (16/3/2003) that magnetic power is in everyone and, as seen above, even in flowers and fruit). In earlier discourses, such as on Mahashivarathri, March 13, 2002, for example, he said:

“Since the last two days, in order for this Linga to be formed, My whole body became magnetic.” Also “Even the rivers flow, clinging to the earth, due to the magnetism of the earth. Even the wind blows due to magnetic power. Magnetism is pervading everywhere. All the flowers and fruits that they offer are full of magnetism. So, this magnetic power, which is all-pervading, is shining in that temple. When so many thousands of devotees enter, this magnetism increases day-by-day. It will not decrease.
When a small iron piece is kept near a magnet, after a few days even that iron piece will become a magnet. So the individuals who enter into the temple and the things that they offer are all full of magnetism. Therefore, from where did the great powers of the temple arise? It comes from the magnetic power brought from the devotees. Hence, every individual fully has this magnetism.
It is this Divine power that arises in temples, attracts all individuals and also reveals all powers. This magnetism contains Divine power. It is said that magnetism is a temple’s nature. In science, they feel that it is pieces of magnet. They call it materialist magnet. This magnetism (Divine power) is shining in every single human being.”

“So when I put My foot down, the whole foot stuck to the ground. It is a little hard to lift a foot that is stuck. Wherever I walk, it sticks there. Whatever is held, it sticks to My hand. This magnet is not in everyone like this. This magnet is so powerful only in Divinity.” See Discourse on Shivarathri Day March 13

He has surely heard that the earth has a magnetic field with North and South magnetic poles? He seems to imagine this is what drags on his feet, or vice-versa. If this had been so, then his food would stick in his gullet and throughout his body. He says he lifts one foot by his ‘divine will (sankalpa)’ despite the massive force, but meanwhile the other one sticks to the ground. But it is unadvisable to lift both feet off the ground simultaneously. Well, this walking in a sea of tar is all entertaining comical Godswallop! The mystery is how apparently intelligent people can swallow it without losing faith in him!The magnetism got so powerful in May 2003 that it pulled him hard down to his bathroom floor and broke his apparently osteo-arthritic hip, so his will (i.e. ‘sankalpa‘) was not enough, it seems. He had to be operated by doctors in hospital and stop giving darshan!

Sai Baba (Baa-Baa Black Sheep) a misunderstood ‘Second Coming’

Posted by robertpriddy on August 3, 2007

After almost 30 years of Mission (24 -12 72, in Bangalore), Sathya Sai Baba gave the first of a series of annual Discourses on Jesus Christ. . The Discourse culminates in a preposterous claim that Jesus announced Sai Baba’s future Advent from the Cross. This is still taken seriously by devotees and the Sathya Sai Organization (who accord this Discourse and three others pride of place on one of their websites).

Sathya Sai Baba makes a categorical and surely megalomaniacal claim (at the end of the Discourse), extraordinary even by his inflated standards:
“There is one point that I cannot but bring to your special notice today. At the moment when Jesus was merging in the Supreme Principle of Divinity, He communicated some news to his followers, which was interpreted in a variety of ways by commentators and those who relish the piling of writings on writings and meanings upon meanings, until it all swells up into a huge mess.”
“The statement itself has been manipulated and tangled into a conundrum. The statement of Christ is simple: ‘he who sent me among you will come again!’ and he pointed to a Lamb. The Lamb is merely a symbol, a sign. It stands for the Voice – Ba-Ba; the announcement was the Advent of Baba. ‘His Name will be Truth,’ Christ declared. Sathya means Truth. ‘He will wear a robe of red, a blood-red robe.’ [Here Baba pointed to the robe He was wearing.] ‘He will be short, with a crown (of hair). The Lamb is the sign and symbol of Love.’
But that is not all. Sathya Sai Baba adds that he is not just Christ, but God the Father:
“Christ did not declare that he will come again. He said, ‘He who made me will come again.’ That Ba-ba is this Baba and Sai, the short, curly-hair-crowned red-robed Baba, is come. He is not only in this Form, but he is in every one of you, as the dweller in the Heart. He is there, short, with a robe of the colour of the blood that fills it.” (Sathya Sai Speaks, XI, 54:346)
“The great teachers belong to mankind. It is wrong to believe that Jesus belongs only to the Christians and that Christmas is a holy festival for the West only. To accept one of them as one’s own and discard the rest as belonging to others is a sign of pettiness. Christ, Rama, Krishna – they are for all men everywhere.” (XI, 54:338)

To see the ignorance and confusion of Sathya Sai Baba about the historical Jesus and Christianity in general, see Brian Steel’s academic analyses here.

Sai Baba and the moon

Sathya Sai Baba – who famously claims that Ravanna, Hiranyakasipu etc. were able to travel to the moon, claims he too has all the knowledge and power in the universe. Why does the Indian government plan extensive space travel and even now to send a man to the moon – if they could just send Sai Baba to get some moonrock and spy out the land? Or perhaps, if they ask him nicely, he will do as is claimed he has done before – bring the moon down to earth!

Sathya Sai Baba eventually blessed the two-volume work by a devotee who had scoured the area of Puttaparthi and beyond for any stories he could find about the youth and life of Sathya Sai Baba. In his constant humilty and gaping wonder, Ra. Ganapati writes in a style which may perhaps be described as showering constant nectarine praise and over-embellished hyperbole on Sai Baba. The fabulous descriptions defy all reason and common sense (about which fact SSB and his followers enjoy boasting!) but of course they cannot be checked in any reliably means. Here are some of Ganapati’s miracle regurgitations…

Ganapati wrote that on 8/12/1973 on a stop with Sathya Sai Baba between Prashanthi Nilayam and Brindavan devotees threw stones at a wood-apple tree and brought down one unripe fruit. “Svami bent down and picked it up. Holding it between the thumb and forefinger He said, “Here is the moon”! When He closed His palm over the piece for an instant and opened it again, the fruit was no longer found. Instead an unusual article was in his hand. It was a translucent sphere. The sunlight was gorgeously reflected out of its surface. Though as a whole it was luminiscent there were several dim and even dark spots inside. Multi-hued veins of minerals could also be seen. Superficially smooth-surfaced, it revealed elevations and depressions inside.

“The mini-moon, made up of all the ingredients of the moon”, observed Baba.
Only a few days before, the newspapers had carried photographs of both sides of the moon transmitted by spacecraft. All their features could be precisely perceived in this three-D-mini-moon. More than that, it was refracting the spectrum of colours in sunshine. The party enjoyed the picnic in the glades. Svami held up the mini-moon finally to sunlight. The solar rays glancing off the outer rim sprayed gold. “Do you see the moon rise?” asked Sai, as pleasing as the moon itself. With one more folding and unfolding of His hand, the mini-moon set! It had returned to its old wood-apple birth!
(Baba: Sathya Sai by Ra. Ganapati, p. 83f).

Comment: Who decided that all the features of the moon photos could be perceived “precisely” in the mini-moon? Not only did the mini-moon”spray gold”but it also “refracted the spectrum of colours” which the actual moon never does. Was it then just a mottled glass sphere, perhaps? Note Ganapati’s reliance on poetic license in saying that Sai is as “pleasing as the moon itself”…but then the actual moon – which may sometimes look nice – is in reality a barren, inhospitable, cold thing. Does not the ‘rising and setting’ of this mini-moon remind more of the rise and fall of Sai Baba as his use of sleight of hand has been repeatedly filmed beyond any doubt? Where are all the accounts by witnesses, who were they… surely they would have thought this miracle worth recording and at least telling Sai writers about. But no! All in all, who can credit this but ‘true believers’ who will defy all reason?

This week the Sunday Indian lists Sathya Sai Baba as a ‘manipulator’.  See EditIndia: Indian Media Journalism Website/Blog

Congratulations to ‘The Sunday Indian’, a recently-launched and very successful Indian magazine seems prominent in defending the vastly suffering populace against corruption and worse and in speaking up boldly  for human rights in India and East Asia. It offers some hope to the genuinely disenfranchised Indians who – despite the ‘democratic vote – are still suffering every kind of injustice, deprivation and crimes under the aegis of an ineffective and political system and uncaring policies, relentless profiteers and religious extremism. Cash prizes go from the magazine to people who tell it as it is, such a in the following comment on their article ‘A Nation Wasted’:

”Figures speak louder than words and this was evident in “A Nation Wasted” (TSI June4-June10). The basic necessities of a man – a shelter, clothes and food. While the first two were never on the priority list of the government, it seems even food is not there now. The appalling fact that Public Distribution System wastes food grains worth Rs 58000 should not be ignored when almost 22 crore of our population goes to bed hungry. The government needs to adopt corporate style of working – being responsible and accountable for its actions. Citizens should scrutinise and take the government to legal court by using RTI.”

Manipulators included:-
VP Singh -VK Krishna Menon – Giani Zail Singh – PV Narasimha Rao – Harshad Mehta – Dhirendra Brahmachari – Rekha – (Sri Sri) Ravi Shankar – Acharya Chatur Sen  – Sathya Sai Baba  – Imam Abdullah Bukhari – Sheikh Abdullah – Jytoi Basu – Ranganath Mishra – Devi Lal – Morarji Desai – TT Krishnamachari – RN Goenka – Maharaja Hari Singh.

Comment: We note the name PV Narasimha Rao – an ex-Prime Minister originally convicted of massive corruption and a Sai devotee who flew to Sai Baba to thank him personally for saving him from imprisonment! The newspaper magnate RN Goenka, who was a Sai Baba worshipper – is also listed as a ‘manipulator’. Also the humble visitor to Sai Baba, the ‘art of living’ money magnate Ravi Shankar!

Mavericks included:-
Lalu Yadav – NT Rama Rao – Bal Thackeray – Ra Narain – Uma Bharti – George Fernandes – Saadat Hasan Manto – Ram Jethmalani – OP Nayyar
Dada Kondke – Protima Bedi – Biju Patnaik – Subrato Sahara – Mahendra Singh Tikait – Pamela Bordes – Meena Kumari

Among other well-known figures of the past 100 years the magazine lists under ‘Rebels and Renegades’ are Dawood Ibrahim (who fled justice in India to Dubai) and Veerappan (the moustachioed bandit and police killer who evaded capture for decades). Then Mohamed Ali Jinnah, who, as everyone must know, was the main protagonist who insisted on splitting Pakistan from India, causing untold deaths and sufferings for millions of Hindus and Muslims.

Under the peculiar title ‘lightning rods, we find the dangerous but deceased Sanjay Gandhi along with the Hindu Bharatiya Janata party’s LK Advani. Also Osho Rajneesh – another most famous sex and money guru.

In a hagiography called ‘Conversations with Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba’ ISBN 81-7208-049-2 page 164. Dr. John Hislop asked about life beyond the earth and Sathya SaiBaba replied,

H: “Science says there are many planets where there will be much the same life.”
Sai: “In all the universe there is no other planet that has human life, or a similar life form.”

Later, in ‘My Baba and I’ by Dr. John Hislop  (p.225-6 – Birth Day Publishing, San Diego 1985), we read the exact opposite:
Sai Baba said “All life may flow toward God. Even frogs in a pond and insects.”
J.H: “But Swami, that is life in this world. I mean life elsewhere in the universe.”

Sai: “… The question about life in the universe arises because you project your own particular circumstances. You feel that other ways of life would be intolerable for you. In the hot, blazing Sun, for instance, beings are livinhis life exists in circumstances considered to be intolerable by you. Elsewhere in the Universe, life feels it is Divinity, is one with Divinity, and is quite happy, and feeling all is right.”

Comment: As here, Sathya Sai Baba often contradicts himself on many major issues (whether there is free will or not, whether there is a divine spark in every being or not etc. etc.). This helps satisfy each party – they read only which version they want to believe and then deceive themselves that he knows and is telling them the truth!

Now, that some form of life will be found to exist outside earth is highly likely, according to one of the world’s recognised most foremost geneticists, Prof. Richard Dawkins of Oxford University. Dawkins makes a calculation of the chances of the same basic conditions for life as exist on earth to show, in summary, that “…my earlier calculation demonstrated that even a chemical model with odds of success as low as one in a billion, would still predict that life would arise on a billion planets in the universe.” He also points out that “a chemical model need only predict that life will arise on one planet in a billion billion to give us a good and entirely satisfying explanation for the presence of life here.

More non-credible ‘stories’ presented as fact by Sathya Sai Baba
Sathya Sai Baba claims to know that legendary figures of Indian mythology were real: “Hiranyaksha and Hiranyakasipu also were ones of very great capabilities. They were great scientists. Hiranyakasipu not only went to the moon; he also went to the sun. Not only the sun, he also reached the stars. When he went to star Dhruva and touched it, the earth spun. With that he suffered. Though he was such a great scientist, things should be done only as much as is needed; but if it is in excess, a very big danger will happen.”  (Sathya Sai Baba – Guru Purnima Discourse, July 2002).
Sai Baba also said:- “Modern scientists could only reach the moon, but Hiranyakasipu could even go beyond the sun and the stars. Such a great scientist did not adhere to Dharma (i.e righteousness) and ultimately met his doom.” (Sanathana Sarathi October 1999, page 262).
“Hiranyakasipu had by rigorous austerity and practice established his mastery, as modern scientists have done, over the elements. He could transport himself through the hydrospheres as a fish, through the atmosphere as a bird, but he denied God…” (Sathya Sai Speaks, Vol. 20, page 33)
“People today regard the ancient sages as ignoramuses, who knew nothing about science. But they knew more than the scientists of today. One of the greatest scientists in ancient times was Hiranyakasipu. He was the master of all the five elements (ether, air, water, fire and earth) and explored the depths of the ocean, all the regions of the earth and the farthest reaches of the sky. He probed the secrets of the atom.” (Sathya Sai Speaks, Vol. 24, page 83).
This man is worshipped by six Indian Prime Ministers and several Indian Presidents, by Indian judges, ‘scientists’ and a supposed 60 to 100 million followers (some claim 600 million!) So what can be so wrong with their judgement?

Narasimha and demon Hiranyakasipu

Sai Baba was once Rama and Krishna, so he claims!
He told people around him (according to the long-term US ashram resident Mr. Alvin Drucker in 1987 in a talk before a thousand or so foreign visitors) that all who visited him on his 60th Birthday were once also with him when he was Krishna or when he was Rama. These secrets came only from His close servitors on the Sai Central Trust, including Mr.Prasad, who tell that Swami said this was also so on the 70th Birthday. Of course, the rumour spread most freely (see here)!

Now, very many dinosaur fossils – including those of a few new species – are still being discovered today. They all lived many millions of years ago. Yet any evidence the relative giants of Indian scripture like Rama and Co. which Sai Baba claims existed only some few thousands of years ago has never been discovered or identified. Sathya Sai Baba also presents it as historical fact that God has in ages past actually incarnated as a vast tortoise (Kurma), a giant boar (Varuna) and a lion-man (Narasimha), each time to save the world from one or another threat.Yes, it gets better, stranger all the time…

The new creationist museum in US opens
The world’s first creationist museum, which tells visitors the Earth is only about 6,000 years old has opened in Petersburg, Kentucky. It was the dream of Ken Ham, president of ‘Answers in Genesis’, a Christian ministry that promotes the idea that the Biblical book of Genesis should be taken literally in describing the creation of the world, life and humans as carried out by God over a six-day period a few thousand years ago. It propounds the most absurd and anti-scientific fables as if they were more true than the findings of an entire range of sciences. Read more here

But didn’t they ask the Creator Himself?
Why don’t these creationists realise that Sathya Sai Baba claims to be that very God! They might still be able to ask him straight off about how he did it all!  The personality cultists of Sathya Sai Baba claim that anything up to 600 million people believe in him, and he pointedly stated he created the Universe (specifically not just the world!).

Critics of the Kentucky museum say the $27m (£14m) centre, whose motto is “Prepare to believe!”, will be the first museum in the world whose exhibits are almost entirely fake. But these critics are probably unaware that there are two more museums which hail the Creator in the person of Sathya Sai Baba with many equally false statements! To make sure this is all his power and glory is set in stone, Sai Baba has used millions of money donated (to help and educate the poor) to two museums in which he figures as God and the Creator (read some more?)! The telegraphy reporter and author of spiritual literature, Mick Brown, visited the first large Sai aba ‘Spiritual Museum’. (See Brian Steel’s summary of Mick Brown’s reactions)

Sathya Sai Heritage Museum

Chaitanya Jyoti museum in Prashanthi Nilayam

The person at centre of the massive cult says:
“I have not come to set afoot a new cult, I do not want people to be misled on this point. I affirm that the Sai form is the form of all the various names that man uses for the adoration of the Divine. So, I am teaching that no distinction should be made between the names Rama, Krishna, Ishwara, Sai – for they are all My names.” (Discourse at 1st World Conference of Sathya Sai Seva Organisations in Bombay in May 1968. – Sathya Sai Speaks, VIII, pps 95-96)
Sai Baba wrote a letter to students at Brindavan in 1974 (Janmashtami) in which he declared: “I have separated Myself from Myself, so that I may love Myself. My beloved ones, you are ‘My Own Self'” And Prof. N. Kasturi comments on this “This is only further evidence supporting Baba’s declaration that He created the universe of Himself, with one word, to become all this diversity (ekoham, bahusyaam). (p. 156 Vol. 4 Sathya , Sivam, Sundaram – the official biography) “God can do anything. He has all Power in the palm of His Hand. My Body, like all other bodies, is a temporary habitation; but, My Power is eternal, all-pervasive, ever-dominant.” (p.136 Vol 3. Sathya , Sivam, Sundaram US edition ).More on these creationists and the Sai Baba ‘teaching’ later….

Sai Baba’s Substitute for Science: ‘Saience”

The great tsunami that devastated countries around the Indian ocean in 2004 was dealt with by Sathya Sai Baba succinctly. It was retribution against us (humans) for our bad conduct! The clownish ‘saviour of mankind’ himself [claiming omniscience, omnipotence and what have you] illumines his followers with a superior kind of science which he has name ‘Saience’ after himself! I quote:- “Many natural calamities are entirely due to man’s behaviour. Earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, wars, floods and famines and other calamities are the result of grave disorders in Nature. These disorders are traceable to man’s conduct.”
p. 290, Sanathana Sarathi, December -1992 & p. 375 – Sathya Sai Speaks, Vol. 25.

So it is all the fault of ‘man’. This information may be manna to poor peasants or cringing servitors, but no one with a smattering of education can rationalise this away. Now wars – and the economic exploitation that cause pollution, deforestation, or global warming may (if with some difficulties) be attributed partly to ‘spiritual lapses’ on behalf of humanity. But tsunamis, volcanic eruptions?  Major earthquake calamities took place for millions of years before and during humanity’s emergence and are known to be caused by the regular releases through aeons of vast pressures built up in the gradually-moving continental tectonic plates. The Guardian’s science correspondent Ian Sample, has a different view: Click here to see ‘Stark Effects of a Seismic Shift’

Sathya Sai Baba lives in Andhra Pradesh – and it was hit very hard by the tsunami. His teaching and vagueness imply that those who were hit hardest were those most guilty of spiritual lapses etc. Or who?
Just to show that Sai Baba really meant what he said, consider his following statement about one year later: “Nature is causing various disasters such as earthquakes, famines, floods and volcanic eruptions. What is the reason? The spiritual lapses of man account for these calamities.” p. 11, Sanathana Sarathi, Nov. 1993. – or – p. 342 – Sathya Sai Speaks, Vol. 27

‘Take It From Here’
Beware of sensual pleasures and unsacred vision – it plays havoc with your eyes and shortens your life-span… or so the man says:-
“Today man is putting his senses to misuse and as a result his body is becoming weaker day by day. He shortens his life-span by his unsacred vision and by indulgence in sensual pleasures. Lakhs of light rays in his eyes are being destroyed because of his unsacred vision. That is the reason what man is developing eye defects.” (Sai Baba, discourse on 5/7/2001 Sanathana Sarathi, August 2001, p. 226)

This is the kind of absurdly non-scientific doctrine that students have to swallow at Sai Baba colleges (so much trumpeted for ‘excellence’ by Sathya Sai Organisation propaganda machines)!  So man is developing eye defects and shortening life span… doesn’t Baba know about the vast improvements in health, life span and eye-care made by science in recent centuries? Age expectancy has risen progressively in almost all countries in the world – even India but notably excepting Russia since the Soviet State fell – when the economy was wrecked.

Bjorn Lomborg writes in his 2001 book “The Sceptical Environmentalist”, referring to world age expectancy: “Fewer and fewer people are starving. In 1900 we lived for an average of 30 years; today we live for 67. According to the UN we have reduced poverty more in the last 50 years than we did in the preceding 500, and it has been reduced in practically every country.” So, any shortcomings in world health certainly have quite other causes than unsacred vision!

The mote in Sai’s eye
Ironic that Sathya Sai has the use of only one eye himself! Perhaps he was thinking of himself again when he condemned indulgence in sensual pleasures (by now you would know which ones!). Sai Baba loves scriptures, though he has shown how ignorant he is of much of the New Testament. Yet he has harangued the crowds with a paraphrase of the following preaching:- “And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?” “Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.” [Matthew 7:5] Read all about how he lost sight in one eye in his own words here.

Pauper Sai Baba

Posted by robertpriddy on June 6, 2007

On the Sai Baba gravy train

Sathya Sai Baba’s ‘mini-empire’ in South India has an overall value anywhere above several billions US dollars… but due to the great secrecy and occasionally proven corruption which exists in this outfit, very little is revealed. That foreign devotees have financed water projects and hospitals makes Sai Baba a honey pot for all vote-seeking politicians.  A succession of Indian governments have long extended huge tax and import privileges to these vast currency-earning activities. VIP visitors – inside and outside the Sathya Sai Organization – are known to have benefited from the so-called ‘super-speciality hospitals’, though they would be well-advised to avoid such unhygienic conditions as are known to exist there (reported to several people privately by Dr. Sara Pavan, the Australian doctor who moved to India to work there, but who was dismissed from his post because he was too critical of practices there etc.!).

“Brother, can you lend me a dime?”
Sathya Sai Baba always pleads poverty… “I own nothing.” Feigning to be a spiritual renunciant who wants nothing for himself and cares not  for name or fame. He nevertheless stretches out both hands for any donations he can obtain (he did towards me and I was fool enough to give a lot!). This is supposed to be to help the poor and uneducated, but far too much goes on his many all too self-glorifying projects – museums about himself and massive promotional sports and showpiece events, with his self-publicity projected throughout the world, by radio, film, book, discourses. Not exactly an example to set for humanity (even the Pope is not that liberal towards himself).

Sathya Sai Baba would have the world believe that he is a financial pauper. He is ever repeating stories about his childhood when he had no buttons for his shirt. But his teens he was very well provided for, and has not had to lift a finger for himself since. He is everywhere – also in countless photos and films – seen to live the life of Riley, strolling about to be admired, wallowing in opulent luxury and eternal room service that provides everything. This includes his private luxury apartments in a dozen places he visits, sometimes only fleetingly, (the insides of these are seen by few for obvious reasons, but they lack nothing in expensive architecture, furnishing and requisite equipment. I have been shown through one of them – a luxury private suite in the Muddenahalli Sai temple). He has had any number of the most expensive cars, uses privately-hired jet planes to carry him wherever he will, and all manner of service from and anything whatever he may require. He is unable to walk more than a few staggering steps, so has specially designed Mercedes wagon – a (gold-plated?) buggy – and the plushest of hi-tech wheelchairs, of course.  Not for himself, you understand, but for the ‘joy of his devotees’ don’t you know?

Similarly, the golden handrails for him to hang on to – installed at who knows what expense – around the veranda area at Prashanthi Nilayam.  Top foreign devotees who smell a rat day after day either like to keep their heads in the sand and their consciences numb so they can preserve the faith which keeps them going and their considerable privileges and rank within the movement… fearing what would become of them otherwise.

Sai Baba has stooped to the basest of lies!
On top of this Sai Baba has the utter cheek to lie himself blue-faced in a public discourse recently that his critics are writing against him “for money”. Far from it! All those many I know do this to warn the public and counteract with serious documented information the gigantic flood of disinformation and propaganda publicity. No, no! It is Sathya Sai Baba who tells lies, NOT us – AND he does it for money, without a shred of evidence, for there simply IS none! He tries to keep his payments from devotees flowing and growing. He claims “Swami is pure”, I ask you! However, not one assertion I have made has been proven false, and I would change any that were shown to be so… and I challenge any Sai defender to present genuine evidence to show this.

Among devotees who believe they ‘channel’ the words and wishes of Sathya Sai Baba, one find a motley crew of absurd charlatans. The Sai officials have had to make strenuous efforts through the decades to discredit any number of imitators of Sai Baba, and especially men (almost never women) who are said to ‘materialise’; vibuthi, rings and what have you just like ‘Swami’! Most claim to be acting under Sai’s telepathic directions, or carrying out a mission he gave them, or even being Sai Baba in another form! Few manage to get to the ashram, and don’t last very long if they do. Many women devotees make absurd claims of getting psychic contact with Sai Baba, writing long tracts supposedly from him. One Australian calling herself  ‘Little Heart’ supposed she had formerly been Radha and wrote a book which was sold widely. And a Mrs. Narang also published a book through Professor Paul Ruhela claiming herself as Sai Baba’s mother! (‘Nareng Amma: Sai Ma‘ which was officially rebutted in Sanathana Sarathi) (see more on them here)

Some impostors go to extreme lengths: In Jan. 1985, a Japanese man called Ken [who lived in Canada] installed himself in a room in Puttaparthi where he claimed that he had a ring given by Sai which he could use virtually ‘as a telephone’ to Sai Baba, and that he had been Shirdi Sai Baba’s cook in his former life! He claimed that Sai visited him in this room by walking out of the image of himself on the man’s shrine to gave him instructions, answer his and any devotees’ questions, take their letters and return into the picture! An Australian man I knew (Richard Prescott) – having failed to get an interview with Sai Baba – visited this fake because he needed to get Baba’s acceptance of an architectural drawing he had made for a circular domed kind of building which he wanted to be made a standard Sai Baba building around the world. As he knocked on the door he heard voices within. When it opened some short while later, he was told what a shame he had not come some minutes earlier as Sai had just been there and had gone back into the picture! But he left his letter to Sai and some days later was told it had been accepted. Of course, no such domed circular Sai centres have ever appeared anywhere so far as can be discovered.

However, the fraudulent Japanese man – whose fantastic claims had been written up naively and religiously by Robert Lowenberg in his book ‘At the Feet of Sai’ – was later discredited by a strong disclaimer in Sanathana Sarathi, warning devotees against him. He claimed too that Shirdi Sai used to appear and walk with him on his rounds (he was a postman) in the icy wastes of Canada! Also, Sathya Sai would materialise himself in his kitchen to do his washing up! He also told people that he had been instructed to start a community in Canada and prepare all for the coming world catastrophe, around year 2000! Now we know that it did not happen!
