Asaram was arrested in 2013 after a case of sexual assault was filed against him by two of his followers, who alleged that he had assaulted their daughter. Police say that the couple, who had sent the girl to one of his ashrams for spiritual lessons, were summoned to see her as she was “under the influence of some supernatural ghostly powers”. They were then told to take their daughter to Jodhpur to meet the guru.

The family reached the Jodhpur ashram on 14 August. The following night, Asaram called the victim to his room on the pretext of “curing” her. He then raped the victim while her parents waited outside chanting his prayers, police say. Police say the guru forced the victim to perform sexual acts on him and threatened to murder her family if she spoke about the incident. The victim told her parents what had happened the following day. They tried to confront Asaram, but were refused entry to his ashrams.

Zee Media Bureau reported January 22, 2016 that another child goes missing from Asaram Bapu’s Motera ashram in Ahmedabad

“Controversial ‘godman’ Asaram Bapu, who is in jail fighting a rape case against him, is once again in news for wrong reasons. News agency ANI said on Friday that one more child has gone missing from Asaram Bapu’s Motera ashram in Ahmedabad. The godman has been under scanner after several incidents of minor boys who went missing from his ashram were reported.

The godman is also facing a probe in connection with the mysterious death of two cousins staying at his city-based ashram. The parents of the two children, who were found dead on the banks of Sabarmati river near Asaram’s ashram in Motera in Ahmedabad in July 2008, had filed a plea before a magisterial court in January last year seeking transfer of the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Cousins Dipesh Vaghela (10) and Abhishek Vaghela (11) had gone missing from Asaram Bapu’s gurukul, a residential school situated in Motera Ashram of the city, on July 3, 2008 under mysterious circumstances.

On July 5, 2008, mutilated bodies of the two boys were found in the riverbed near the ashram. After the two boys were found dead, a widespread public agitation had taken place against Asaram with allegations that their deaths were linked to black magic practised in the ashram. Dipesh’s father Praful Vaghela had filed an application before Chief Metropolitan Magistrate SV Parekh seeking a CBI probe.

The application said the cause of the death of two children has not been investigated properly by the local police as well as the inquiry commission (Justice D K Trivedi Commission) constituted by the state government. All the investigations, according to the applicant, have been allegedly aimed at shielding the real killers of children. The state CID had in 2009 booked seven followers of Asaram in connection with the death of the two children under Section 304 of the IPC (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) against whom a charge sheet was filed in September 2012.”

Zee News report: New Delhi: “This February 14, worship your parents instead of celebrating Valentine’s Day, say a series of billboards put up at Delhi Metro stations by a religious group, which also endorsed police action against couples. The advertisements, put up across 35 stations by an organisation of self-styled godman Asaram Bapu, advocating ‘Matri Pitri Pujan Diwas’ has left many commuters enraged, prompting Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to order the matter to be examined.  The matter is being thoroughly examined and taken up with the concerned contractor for necessary action,” DMRC chief spokesman Anuj Dayal said.”

Indore: The wife of Narayan Sai, who has been behind the bars in a rape case filed by a Surat-based woman, has alleged that the son of self-styled godman Asaram is a blot on saint community’s escutcheon.  As per a complaint filed by Janaki, her husband had illicit relationships with a number of women and involved in promiscuity.
During a maintenance and domestic violence-related hearing in a family court here on Tuesday, Janaki filed a written complaint, saying she fears for her life from Narayan Sai and his aides. Seeking security cover for herself, Janaki alleged that she got to know about Narayan Sai’s affairs after her marriage. In a report published in Punjab Kesari, Janaki also claimed that Sai has a love child too. Sai was arrested for repeatedly sexually assaulting one of the two Surat-based sisters, who was the inmate of his ashram here between 2002 and 2005.

Recording emerges of Asaram trying to bribe witness (later murdered!)

Asaram Bapu is reportedly heard on a tape offering a bribe to a witness (half now half afetrwards!), a teenager called Kirpal Singh who alleged Assram has raped him, according to the father of the boy. This guru is clearly the embodiment of adharma, as his long record shows, and his continued attempts to disrupt the legal process on all any ground he could dream up has been successful so far, his case is still not heard. Let us hope that the Indian judicial system is up to convicting him (though the world has it doubts, knowing their record). NDTV reports: “Kirpal Singh was attacked in Shahjahanpur on July 10; he died in a Bareilly hospital the next day. He is the ninth witness in the case against Asaram to have been attacked and the third one to have died.” There are two suspects who are Asaram followers.

Asaram Bapu responsible for all attacks against witnesses

JODHPUR: 74-year-old self-styled godman Asaram Bapu was quizzed about an attack on an important witness in the sexual assault case against him. Responding immediately to it, the spiritual leader said, “Duniya mein sabhi hamle main hi karwata hoon (I am responsible for all the attacks that are happening)”. Asaram made the statement to the media while he was being taken for the hearing in a Jodhpur Court on Wednesday.

A key witness, Mahendra Chawla who served Asaram for four years as a Personal Assistant was attacked by some unidentified gunmen at Sanauli Village in Panipat on Wednesday. Critically injured Chawla suffering the bullet wounds on his shoulder was rushed to the hospital following the attack. It is apparently thought by some deluded followers that  he said this in sarcasm. If that was his intention, then one can but think, ‘many a true word is said in jest’. Considering the criminal antics he has displayed over they years, it is only reasonable to assume that he was behind the attacks in one way and another.

Once again the as yet unconvicted major criminal Asaram Bapu is in the news. He built illegally in a reserved forest, and this has been known since 1994, but nothing was done. Now a petition to demolish the illegal construction, but who knows whether the Delhi government will heed the call? As is kn own, Mr. Modi has been deeply involved in supporting or condoning numerous false and criminal Indian gurus, including Sathya Sai Baba.

A prospective Indian Prime Minister, Yadav, is a disgraceful male chauvinist

What on earth could be worse than sexual politics in India? The media reports:

“In an election speech on Thursday, Mulayam Singh Yadav, head of the Socialist Party (SP), which runs the state government in Uttar Pradesh, said if he became prime minister he would scrap a recently introduced law that fixed the death penalty for rapists.”Boys will be boys. Following a girl-boy fight, the girl complains she was raped,” he said in the city of Moradabad.
Mr Yadav’s comments sparked outcry from women’s rights campaigners and commentators, as well as his political opponents. They were also denounced, though not that vocally, by the ruling Congress party, which had been long allied in the federal government with the SP in a ruling coalition. Referring to a case in Mumbai where three men were sentenced to death for two gang-rapes, Mr Yadav claimed the men should not face the death penalty as it was not uncommon “for boys to make mistakes.”

So Yadav aligns himself with the view of the disgusting Asaram Bapu, who spoke of the horrendous Mumbai gang rapists (and all but one was a boy) on death row as “brothers”. Fortunately there ar those who speak out firmly against this super-chauvinism, including his own son: “Mr Azmi’s comments sparked further outcry, including a denunciation from his son, Farhan Azmi, who is contesting a seat in the city of Mumbai. “I believe a rapist should be hanged a hundred times,” he said. “I have five sisters and everyone in my family believes the same.”

That such a statement could be made without immediate disgrace and banishment from political life just shows how India had never faced up to the widespread seriously perverted sexual mores… a country which was found by a major governmental research report together with UNICEF investigating 12,000 children that 53 per cent had been sexually abused. Now a major political figure is actually encouraging such abuses! Millions have lost their childhood due to the laxity in lawmaking, especially the sexual abuse of boys by males, and a number of Prime Ministers and Presidents have actually condoned this by turning a bling eye to serial sex abusers and pedophiles like the guru they worshipped, Sathya Sai Baba, protecting his from prosecution to try to retain their own ill-invested prestige.

The violence against women seems to be near unstoppable as long as this democratic nation keeps getting run by male chauvinists. And even then, to change a society in its deep rooted beliefs is hard enough. It took western countries more than a century to reach some equality between men and women, and we are not nearly finished ourselves, given e.g. the appalling figures concerning domestic abuse, lover boys and forced prostitution, but Indian society and police and court officials seem hell-bent on remaining backwards, and in support of male perpetrators, godmen or not. Conspiracy theory about “International Conspiracy against Indian ‘saints'”

Asaram Bapu case: Defence alleges conspiracy to defame saints

The defence in sexual assault case involving Asaram on Thursday argued before a local court that the self-styled godman was a victim of “international conspiracy” hatched to defame the saint community in India.

Wonder who on earth could behind such a ‘conspiracy’. Could it possibly be that Asaram  and Co. think I am an international conspiracist because I have reported the facts as they emerged in India? Well, I am definitely against those bogus saints  whose actions do not agree with their wonderful words in public taken from Hindu tradition, such as Asaram Bapu and his dead friend and endorser, Sathya Sai Baba. Bogus ‘saints’ or ‘godmen’ as they love to be called include all those who are known to be sexual abusers and have been involved in murders and cover-ups, or have been convicted or credibly charged with considerable evidence of crimes. (See The Dark Side of very prominent Hindu gurus) Otherwise, I have only seen international news outlets report the news as published in India already, which is what I have also done. The charges against Asaram were made in India by Indians and the Indian police arrested him and his son. No international influence could have caused all the charges brought against them.  So Asaram and gang are clearly getting more than desperate when they have to accuse foreign sources to try to divert attention from the crimes with which they are so formidably charged! Their attempts to bribe the police with huge sums did not work, nor is there much hope for them that Narendra Modi would, as PM,  quash charges against Bapu, as Narasimha Rao and S. B. Chavan did for Sathya Sai Baba – see documentation.

Yet another horrendous double gang rape and murder are in the Indian news, and this is also under international scrutiny. Had this happened in Britain, it would have immediately brought the Prime Minister onto the scene with immediate  suspensions of the police involved and criminal charges being brought against them. But in India it seems to be par for the course, the main politicians seem not to dare even to mention the issue, let alone DO anything. When the infamous Delhi gang rape and murder took place last year, the police and legal authorities were supine, then dragged their feet, and the super-rich guru Asaram Bapu famously made the most chauvinistic and revealing excuse for the rapists (helping to lead to his current incarceration for rape). Thank goodness, at least, that Indian women are rightly and bravely out protesting vigorously that ‘nothing has changed’.

CORRECTION It seems that the President may have changed his mind due to the publicity he caused by appearing to ignore Prashanthi Nilayam, because he left for Puttaparthi soon after the conclusion of the public meeting at Anantapur on Monday morning in the special helicopters of the Indian Air force, visited the Prasanthi Nilayam along with Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, Governor ESL Narasimhan and Minister Geeta Reddy. He stayed a short while only.

The President of India, who endorsed Sathya Sai Baba by going to his funeral, is to pass through Prashanthi Nilayam airport to a political function, but avoiding the ashram! Puttaparthi is useful to the famous people, at least as an airport! People stop by but do not even go to the samadhi to say hello! One can be sure that the Sathya Sai Trust gang and other officials have desperately tried to get luminaries to visit, if only for five minutes and to keep a reputation of Puttaparthi being important. But all in vain. Now that the living God is dead and so can no longer pull strings and give them publicity, it is of no use to them. Perhaps the President of India realises that to visit the ashram now would be to bring forth the mutual endorsements of sexual abusers Asaram Bapu and Sathya Sai Baba?

All the compromised former Prime Ministers, Presidents, Ministers, and other luminaries who were followers of Sai Baba before the massive scandals of sex abuse broke in 1999 were virtually trapped into protecting him so as not to lose face and prestige. What a relief it must be for them not to have to face up to continually endorsing that unconvicted criminal by visiting him.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan would accompany the President.
The police authorities are making elaborate security arrangements at Puttaparthi airport and Sanjeeva Reddy stadium in Anantapur district in the wake of President’s visit.”

Surely, any guru worth his salt would not be so dependent on external circumstances, lack of accustomed food, the buzzing and biting of mosquitoes and would have peace of mind, detachment and love of everyone. This just shows what a miscreant this ‘guru’ is, quite apart from his mutual Sathya Sai Baba-endorsement, the hallmark of the serial pedophile.

Also, the quote in another of the above articles offers excellent insight: “The Supreme Court on Tuesday appeared to make an indirect reference to the arrest of godman Asaram Bapu for alleged rape charges when it said people with ill-gotten wealth either choose politics or religion, and then grab land to become more powerful and end up doing heinous crimes.” Though sometimes, as in sai baba’s case, the path is chosen first, which then leads to the wealth and then the heinous crimes. SO wonderful that the press in India is starting to publicly cover, even endorse, the fall of such ‘holymen’! The staunch devotees are becoming the minority!

The father of a 15-year-old girl said: “He took my daughter to his private quarters in the Jodhpur ashram to perform some ritual to ward off evil spirits. Then he assaulted her,” he told NDTV. He tried to silence her…told her ‘my gunmen are outside, be quiet or they will kill you and your parents’. The family claims they have been receiving threatening calls from Asaram’s men, but they are determined to fight. A regular contributor to Asaram Bapu’s trust, the father says he had taken his daughter to the spiritual leader as she had been unwell. In her statement to the police, the girl said the 72-year-old yoga guru tried to force himself on her and threatened to hurt her and her family if she dared to reveal what happened. Yesterday, the Rajasthan police waited for eight hours to serve summons to Asaram Bapu, as his followers claimed he was ‘meditating’. Later, Asaram Bapu dismissed the girl’s allegations as ‘bakwas (nonsense)’ and accused the family of trying to frame him. “Will any man risk his daughter’s izzat (honour) like this by making false allegations?” said the father. “We stand by what we told the police. Why doesn’t the CBI investigate and verify the truth?” He hit out at the police for only serving the godman summons, nearly two weeks after the complaint. ” He has political connections – he should have been arrested by now”.

Knowing the proven male chauvinist nature of this false and self-serving ‘guru’, it is evident he is trying to writhe his way out of the charge by unscrupulous and venomous lies against the family, quite apart from his use of gun-toting goondas to threaten them. The father of the girl was his devotee, so why should he suddenly wish to frame him if there were no truth in the accusation? Asaram Bapu is fighting for his reputation, his ill-gotten gains and one can expect him to stoop to anything.

That Asaram Bapu has political connections too is typical of the easy ride the worst criminal ‘godman’ in India receive from leading political figures, they can often get away with anything whatever, as proven in the case of Sathya Sai Baba who ordered executions of some devotees and who serially raped boys and young men through decades but was protected from investigation and justice by India’s Prime Ministers (including Manmohan Singh, A.B. Vajpayee,) and Presidents ( A.J. P Kalam),  High Chief Justice Bhagwati and the judiciary generally.
