The Pope must hide from punishment, as did Sai Baba

Posted by robertpriddy on February 16, 2013

The Guardian published a lengthy article (Feb. 11, 2013) , entitled: “Pope Benedict ‘complicit in child sex abuse scandals’, say victims’ groups” and “Pope Benedict XVI ‘knew more about clergy sex crimes than anyone else in church yet did little to protect children’, say critics” , as the following excerpt shows:-

Excerpt from The Guardian 11/2/2013

The Telegraph wrote: “Dan Brown couldn’t have made it up. The ecclesiastical earthquake of a pope resigning has been attributed, variously, to Benedict nursing a fatal illness; to a head injury during his trip to Mexico last March that convinced him to abdicate; to being forced out after an acrimonious meeting with a group of senior cardinals two days before he announced his resignation; to his looming disgrace over either dodgy deals done by the Vatican Bank, past cover-ups of paedophile priests, or an “explosive” forthcoming report by a team of cardinals on a tendering scandal; and to a strategy to secure the succession for his favourite.”

Though Sathya Sai Baba’s devotee Prime Ministers, Presidents and Supreme Court judges protected him from prosecution of any kind, especially for sexual abuses and involvement in  cold-blooded murders, the Pope is not protected similarly by the Italian Government. He does not need it, as the Vatican is a recognised State, so if he stays inside, he will escape the many who wish to prosecute him (unless perhaps someone in Vatican City wishes to do so… unlikely, however). Of course, his possible crimes were nowhere nearly as serious as those for which Sathya Sai Baba was very credibly accused.

The Pope is confined by pressures to the Vatican for the rest of his life. Like Sathya Sai Baba, who dared not leave India for most of his life – especially after the infamous night of murders in his temple at Prashanthi Nilayam 1993 ( when ‘The Abode of Supreme Peace’ was more like the Abuse of Supreme Peace). By remaining within their respective fiefdoms, the Pope will escape prosecution, as did Sai Baba, who was protected by the Indian and Hindu elite he was from 1993 onwards surrounded by massive security precautions, with Israeli-trained undercover security guards and much else. Fatuously – and mendaciously – he said these were all for the protection of his devotees. But devotees were free to carry most normal objects in the ashram, UNTIL they entered his compound, whereupon they were body-searched (both males and females) for the slightest thing that might be used to attack a person – knives, of course, but any metal object including pens, floppy discs and almost every imaginable item. Why did they have to submit to that just then and not otherwise, if it was for their own protection?

But the journalist concluded that the reason for the Pope’s resignation was basically that he is too sick and old. The same applied to Sathya Sai Baba in the last years of his life, when he appeared to be a zombi-like figure, but he could never resign. He had to figuratively “ride the tiger” to the end until he fell off for the inevitable kill. A lawsuit was announced in the Indian media by ex-Minister Nagi Reddy, who claimed Sai Baba was murdered by his own circle! No more has been heard, as lawsuits can easily be delayed, even for decades, the use of huge bribes being a common practice. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was a long-time worshipper of Sathya Sai Baba, Sonia Gandhi attended his funeral… what more need one say?

Swami ‘Paramahamsa’ Nityananda scandal

Posted by robertpriddy on March 28, 2010

Swami Nithyananda is seen on a video caressing an Indian actress on a bed etc.s accused of sexual

Swami Nityananda, caught trying to cover up the sex video evidence all can see.

See latest blog on this guru here

Swami Paramahamsa Nithyananda – alias Rajasekaran, a native of Tiruvannamalai was caught on video in compromising situations with Tamil  actress Ranjitha and another woman. Serious complaints to the police were lodged by various persons, including Kannada actor Praveen and his ‘second-in-command; Lenin. Since then he has withdrawn into indeterminate spiritual seclusion’ and his main ashram has ceased to function. This case pales by comparison with those of Pope Benedict or Sathya Sai Baba, but it has awakened more Indian media suspicion of Indian gurus than any comparable event. So much so that a film ‘God and Sex’ on Nityananda’s life is to be made by director Ram Gopal Varma. reported (23-3-2010): “Tamil Nadu police who had registered cases under various sections, including rape, against Nityananda, transferred them to the police in Ramanagar, as the Ashram falls under it.” The Times of India reported that: “There will be no stay on investigation. Let me go through those papers,” the judge observed when the counsel for the petitioner pleaded for interim order of stay on the proceedings apprehending arrest following the filing of the FIR.”

Kamini Jaiswal, a senior Supreme Court lawyer , who has fought a case against Sathya Sai Baba (see here), blames blind followers for such incidents. “It is shocking to see that well educated people are followers of such godmen,” she said. (Source CNN-IBN)

Swami Nithyananda is notable for the degree of pathetic denial and self-contradictory ‘explanations’, for example:-

“Swamiji has said that the video is a morphed one and blames one of his inmates Premananda alias Lenin Karuppan, for the morphing of his face with the idea of defaming him. It is said that Swamiji tried to stop the airing of the video footage but a civil court did not grant any stay.” (Source)

“Yes, I am in the video. And I am not running away from the law. I was in a trance when the video was shot. Give me a chance to explain myself” Swami said. (Source)

Then about the video he told that they are only the experiments with Tamil actress Ranjita.(Source)

Religious sex abuse cover-up world-wide, eg. Sathya Sai Organization

Posted by robertpriddy on February 18, 2010

It is instructive to look at some present-day examples of what has clearly been an endemic problem of religious institutions and sects worldwide – sexual abuse, especially of children, both female and male.

The Roman Catholic Church has shown itself to be committed to major cover-up of sexual crimes and it continues to hinder prosecutions where it can. The heinous nature of this is matched by Sathya Sai Baba and his protectors, which includes a series of Indian Prime Ministers, Home Ministers and top Supreme and High Court judges. Sathya Sai Baba, if he could despite top protection as ‘a national treasure’ be brought to court and justice, would be liable to vast financial damages, such as which already bankrupted the Catholic Church in many U.S. States, despite it having now cynically insured itself in many countries against financial losses from claimants. (See extent here)

Sky News' report on the wilful deceit by the Pope and the Catholic Chruch over the vast sex abuse scandals worldwide

A two-day summit at the Vatican in Rome with Pope Benedict and 24 senior clergy ended in the Pope condemning child sexual abuse as a heinous crime and a sin against God. As Colm O’Gorman said on Sky News [17-2-2010] “It was nothing more than a rather cynical PR exercise… We don’t need the Vatican to tell us that.” O’Gorman testified that the Pope’s latest announcement is part of a top-level “wilful and deliberate cover-up“. He detailed how history of Catholic sexual abuse and its cover-up goes back to the 1st century AD, but in recent decades has been truly excessive, as three state inquiries in Ireland have shown (eg. the Child Abuse Commission report of 2,600 pages and the Murphy Report). The taxpayers have hitherto footed the £1.4 billion bill for compensation, while the Catholic Church – who should on Christian principles bear this expense – have paid out far less. Further, under the protection of the Vatican, the Catholic Church worldwide has insured itself against possible claims and has “put the interests of the institution, its wealth and its position ahead of the safety of children.” and “The Vatican made a “deceitful and dishonest statement” that it was “a problem in the governance of the national church in Ireland” (O’Gorman).

VATICAN CITY (RNS) Irish victims of clerical sex abuse have asked Pope Benedict XVI for over $1.37 billion in compensation, in a letter that the head of Ireland’s Catholic Church received. (VATICAN CITY – RNS)

As is seen on the image above, the Pope is the centre of a ring-kissing personality cult not entirely dissimilar – though far less charismatic than – that around Sathya Sai Baba, unlike whom the Pope has never been suspected of the oiling of genitals on spiritual aspirants.  As a role model, his total passivity as to getting justice for criminal sexual acts – including widespread pedophilia –  by his criminal officials shows where his true values are. The same applies with far greater force to Sathya Sai Baba, who is himself widely accused and accursed as an abuser of boys and young men on a large scale. The Sathya Sai Organization is unaccountable and ignores all complaints – as once the Roman Catholic Church did until forced into admissions. This makes the organization party to widely alleged criminality and refusal to honour duty of care and mandatory reporting… just like the Vatican! While Sai Baba can hide behind Manmohan Singh and Co., Pope Benedict cannot hide behind Silvio Berlusconi. Indian society is at present far more inclined to cover-up (and thus prolong and virtually condone) the sexual abuse of children, especially when its Prime Ministers and Presidents worship such a person as Sathya Sai Baba.

scan of table from Indian Government research report

It is officially documented by a commission under the auspices of the UN, the Indian Government and Save the Children that fifty-three per cent of India’s forty million children claim to have been sexually abused. That is over 20 million child victims!). See official Government report

The report states: on page 74;-
1. Out of the total of 2211 respondents, 42% children faced at least one form of sexual abuse or the other.
2. Among respondents, 48% of boys and 39% of the girls faced sexual abuse.
3. The prevalence of sexual abuse in upper and middle class was found to be proportionately higher than in lower or in lower middle class.

Miracles: Big Business for the Pope & Sathya Sai Baba

Posted by robertpriddy on September 2, 2007

Temple at Prashanthi Nilayam

“I Believe in Miracles” from the BBC shows how miracles and saints are vital to the emotional and financial power of the Catholic Church. Six million pilgrims per year visit Lourdes, most of them reportedly hoping for a miracle cure from the Lady of Lourdes, who is said to have cured in 87 cases since her visions of the ‘Immaculate Conception’. Despite that, no cure has been confirmed there by the Committee which decides on this since 1987. This does not stop people believing that they have been cured or that others have. That is the name of the game – involving hope, faith, confession, conviction, desperation and witnessing to the Lord’s power etc.  The funds for eight churches in Lourdes have been gathered and business is booming – all kinds of bric-a-brac from icons to rosaries – and bizarrely not even excluding Lourdes ‘pill boxes’ (to supply the very big market of uncured pill-takers, no doubt). This souvenir business is also very flourishing around and inside Sai Baba’s ashrams in Puttaparthi and Whitefield, which function like Lourdes in drawing thousands from abroad, raising their counterfeit hopes and lifting real money from them.

Miracles of Lourdes

While the Catholic Church has recognised 10,000 saints since the practice began, five hundred new saints have been created since the Church reduced the number of miracles required for sainthood from four to two in 1982. Meanwhile, 2, 500 alleged new miracle saints are currently under consideration for canonization. Of all saints so far, 8 are from the USA!  One of these is Mother Theodore Guerin from Haute Terre, Indiana, who cured Phil McCord – who worked at her convent – of blindness after he prayed to her (he says he did so only once too). Compare this to the recent news that has come out about Mother Theresa of Calcutta, who prayed and prayed for her entire adult life but felt entirely deserted by God in every way, but kept on preaching and hoping in vain! (see here ) Some call it faith (but she stated she even lost her belief), others call it being trapped in delusion, the Christian net she had woven for herself and her own prestige. To recognise a cure as a miracle, the Catholic Church has a very strict routine, involving a Medical Board with 21 doctors who must investigate and agree that there are no other possible causes of recovery than prayer to the healing person. Further, before canonization, the proposed saint has to have an impeccable and unchallenged reputation. (That alone cuts out Sathya Sai as a future Catholic saint!)

As in Rome, so in Puttaparthi

The BBC programme series “The World Uncovered” also broadcast “The Secret Swami” about Sathya Sai Baba (see showcase, transcripts and short video clips here). The Pope lays on his hands, and Sai Baba lays them on too (see here) but unlike the Pope he also performs “miracles” in public. However, he has no medical board who sifts the data to check if miracles are genuine, and he is worshipped by numerous Indian doctors who are full-blown believers in his divinity and vouch for anything he says. No serious investigation of his miracles has ever been made, though the para-psychologists Erlendur Haraldsson and Karl Osis tried hard to get him to comply, but he rebuffed them. Haraldsson did investigate Sai Baba’s claim to have resurrected Walter Cowan from the dead, and found the doctors involved who denied any such thing. Otherwise he had to rely entirely on hearsay through interviews, and was unable to expose the faking and sleight-of-hand which has since been proven Sai Baba uses.
