Dictator Idi Amin – Sai Baba’s warm recollections

Posted by robertpriddy on August 26, 2010

In a discourse he held on Christmas Day (25/12/2006) Sathya Sai Baba recounted his visit to East Africa – including Uganda – in 1968. During this he spoke most affirmatively about the brutal despot and Dictator Idi Amin (and this on Christmas Day of all days of the year!). Idi Amin was a self-admitted murderer who had at least five wives and 23 children (plus hundreds of ‘lady friends’), who fed enemies to crocodiles, reportedly kept some of his victims in his deep freezer, and – according to persistent reports of his staff who escaped – even tasted human flesh!
Sai Baba’s praises of Amin were eagerly promoted on the worldwide broadcasts of propagandistic Radio Sai and on the Sai Baba official website by his main propagandist, Dr. G. Venkataraman (also former contributor to India’s nuclear bomb ‘himsa technology’), who thus also evidently accepts that Idi Amin was a Sai-devotee of some stature! His lack of judgement matches that of his ailing Lord God, the evidently failing Sai Baba. That was too much even from a myth-deluded and truth-challenged ‘scientist’ who avoids all important criticisms to his cover-up and has never dared tell anything he knows of Sai Baba’s well-known private doings and the many reliable allegations about them. Perhaps he admires Idi Amin for his lead in such censorship and cover-up? Here is what he wrote about Sai Baba’s fond reminiscences in his 2006 Xmas Day discourse:-

Excerpt from official Sathya Sai propaganda pages on the web
COMMENT: Note how the besotted writer (no doubt Dr. G. Venkataraman, who decides on all publicity matters anyhow) of the above claims that not only people but the animals (wild) of Africa are “devoted to Swami”. Sathya Sai Baba has encouraged this codswallop in line with his original claim to be the creator of the Universe. “They raised their trunks in veneration and paid obeisance to Swami” we are told. But how did the writer know what the elephants were thinking? Well, the animals would have to worship their creator, wouldn’t they? It is laughable in the extreme.

The enthusiasm about the “moment of moments” when Sai Baba “related how Mr. Idi Amin was very fond of him” – and how Sai Baba gave him double daily doses of darsan!” Amin’s devotion “melted the heart of Swami” (I ask you – or was it mutual flattery?) – yes, this most horrific of ghastly rapists, torturers, killers, the sweet-hearted Idi Amin had to be given the blessing of another day’s stay from Swami! Sai gave apples to the crocodiles which were too”captivated by the divine darsan” even to eat the apples. Probably crocs to not like or eat apples – but now, Amin knew their tastes better than that. He gave them human flesh!
Sai Baba propounded that there is no feeling of hatred in these animal (which is reasonable as they are predators naturally) but – and this is another ‘moment of moments’ in Sathya Sai Baba’s down-putting of his fellow-men and -women, therefore “The noble qualities in these animals are not even to be found in human being”! All this is sheer comedy, but it has a very sinister message if you stop to think about it

Swami’s Christmas Discourse 2006

“Some years ago, when I went on a tour to East Africa, several Africans came to Me for darshan. Each one of them prayed, “Swami! Please spend some time with us”. There were a few hundred children among them. All of them had their vision glued to My form. You know the then President of Uganda, Mr. Idi Amin. He was a military officer. He was young and very energetic then. He was tall and hefty. He had a number of wives. He was very fond of Swami. He used to have the darshan of Swami both in the morning and evening. I was very short before that giant. The sight of Me beside him was like the view of a deer by the side of a camel. People were surprised at his love and devotion towards Swami. He was well educated and was the President of his country, Uganda. He was known for his stern nature. Such a person shed tears when I started on My return journey. He told Me, “Swami! I have never shed tears since my birth. Today, I am very sad and have a feeling of separation because Swami is leaving us.” He covered his face with a handkerchief so that others may not notice his feelings. His hands were very strong. He held My hands firmly, expressing thanks for My visit. He also prostrated before Me. He held My feet so tightly that it became difficult for Me later to climb the ladder for boarding the aeroplane. At the time of My departure, he pleaded with Me “Swami, I will surely come to have Your darshan shortly. Otherwise, You please visit our country again. I cannot bear the separation from You.”
The situation in Uganda then was such that he could not leave the country. During My stay in Uganda, he planned to host a dinner for Me in his house. He therefore came to the house of Dr. Patel to personally enquire about the arrangements to be made in this regard. He collected all information as to how to organise the dinner, what should be the menu, who are to be invited as guests, etc. He arranged for brand new utensils for cooking various dishes. He also arranged for new tumblers for the guests. Finally, when I visited his palace for the dinner, all his wives stood in rows on either side and greeted Me with veneration. He introduced them to Me, one by one. I stayed in Kampala, the capital of Uganda. The last day was Guru Purnima, an important occasion for Sai devotees. I had earlier promised to return to Bombay by that date. But, the Africans did not allow Me. They fell at My feet and prayed: “Bhagawan! Please spend this holy day with us”, with tears in their eyes. In answer to their prayers I stayed back to spend Guru Purnima with them.”

“On that day, they wished to take photos with Me. I told them that they might silently pray in their hearts so that their request would be fulfilled. To their joy, each one of them found a photo with Swami standing beside them. The devotion of Africans is indescribable. Even now, I feel very happy when I think of their devotion. My next visit was to the country of Tanzania. There also, everyone who came to have My darshan felt very happy. Ladies and gents came in large numbers to welcome Me, wearing their traditional dresses. They danced in ecstasy on seeing Me. On the day of departure, just before the plane took off, all of them stood in front of the aircraft and pleaded with Me, “Swami! You should not go from here. You must be here only.” How can I accede to their request? I had to leave. The pilots and other officers in the airport counselled them saying, “You should not obstruct Swami’s aircraft like this. This is not good.” They then moved away. I was observing all this from the window of the aircraft. Finally, when the plane started to take off, many of them nearly fainted in grief. That scene was fresh in My memory till I reached Bombay.”

“During that trip, I visited three countries – Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. They are all neighbouring countries. I was very happy and felt deeply touched at the devotion of African people. During My return journey, the aircraft was filled to the brim with the articles gifted by the African devotees. What are those gifts any way? They brought all sorts of articles like dinner sets and tea sets in gold colour. They are still with Me. We are making use of them while hosting high dignitaries like Prime Ministers and Governors.”

Rumours about Sai Baba’s intervention to delay expulsion of Asians from Uganda rebutted.
Idi Amin acting on God\s orders… his guru Sai Baba?

Sathya Sai Baba, Dr. V. Venkataraman and Idi Amin apparently make good bedfellows, according to the arm appreciation of Amin by Sai Baba in a Christmas Day discourse, as reported eagerly by Venkataraman. This was indicated by a photographic image made of the happy threesome, which was not a fake, but a construction to bring home the relationship, as was made clear when it was posted. See this image and the controversy it cause at The last King of Scotland – God’s orders and Sai Baba The Spirit of Christmas

Queen Elizabeth ‘manipulated’ by omnipresent Sathya Sai Baba?

Posted by robertpriddy on October 15, 2009

In a remarkably ill-advised propaganda web page posted by the Australian Sathya Sai Organization, the claim was made, virtually, that the Queen of England was manipulated by the self-proclaimed omnipresent, omnipotent Sathya Sai Baba… as is seen in the last sentence in the screen capture of parts of the webpage as shown below – which point the webmaster made in bold print.

Images and text from Melbourne Sai Organization propaganda

Images and text from Melbourne Sai Organization propaganda - Shitu Chudasama shows the award certificate (photo)

The sheer barking absurdity of this last claim is shown by the fact that the Indian student to whom the D. of E. award was presented had himself inserted the name of his guru, Sathya Sai Baba, instead of his own. And this is supposed to bear witness to the Omnipresence of the Diviner Hand of Sathya Sai Baba! How is that for mad barking… and up the wrong tree?

The official Radio Sai website was forced to remove their version of this by Mr. Peter Westgarth, the Director of the Duke of Edinburgh Awards, but the same page reappeared on their archived pages. Even now, there is a link to that page… though it does not work. The page that is not available may have been removed or it be “temporarily unavailable” and so might reappear when the heat is off again… no one can say. However, Radio Sai have more than adequate back-up in their near-omnipresent defender, Gerald Moreno, whose blog (‘sathyasaibaba.wordpress.com’) and diverse other blogs and web pages reproduce and defend Sathya Sai Baba, Sai Youth and the Sathya Sai Organization posting to the hilt, as one can see from Google results:-QofE-SaiYouth
Gerald Moreno’s blogs and many other uses of Radio Sai’s postings has never been criticised by the Sathya Sai authorities like the Prashanthi Council, despite open letters to them openly to disassociate themselves from his enormous depredations and mendacious calumnies against dissidents (to which they never reply).
Moreno has admitted diverse connections to Sai authorities (including persons on the exclusive and highly-secretive Prashanthi Council) and he has clearly been informed and used by them to publicise privately-released documents about Alaya Rahm from his self-dismissed lawsuit.

Note: Moreno has recently concocted a major lie against me that I traced the employer of a devotee, Nish Paramjorthy, who wrote a critical comment on ExBaba.com and tried to get him fired, also that numerous other people have reported the same thing!  This is totally untrue. I never do any such thing. However, Moreno has web stalked persons connected dissidents (including my son) and tried to harm their reputations and businesses. Gerald Moreno’s hate and character assassination campaign is in its fifth year and continues daily with full force. See some examples here.

Sai Baba: Glaring Publicity yet Silence on Critical Issues

Posted by robertpriddy on August 21, 2009

Sathya Sai Baba imposes silence about himself as far as possible

Sathya Sai Baba imposes silence about himself as far as possible

In earlier years, many Sai Baba devotees strictly followed his advice not to engage in publicity for him. He claimed his success was ensured without the need for any publicity whatever, and he banned all such. All that has now changed! Meanwhile, he continued to blare out in discourses (relayed in print, film and other media) pronouncements of his own marvellous deeds as exceeding anything ever done by anyone on earth. Eventually, his leaders took his own lead and began lavish publicity events around the world. When the scandals broke onto the Internet in 2000, he pronounced in 2000 that no followers should use the Internet. Sai Baba’s thus made a divine faux pas, (though he always claims omniscience and omnipotence) because a very large number of insubordinate devotees soon ignored this edict, as well as his early complaints that computers would ruin human intellect etc. ) He has since accepted and financed websites and radio stations on a large scale as a necessary supplement to his propaganda machine.

Sai devotee websites and bulletin boards are even more censorious and unquestioning than the Sai discussion groups, and no genuine thinking or the mildest hint of criticism is ever voiced. This further testifies to the fear of public scrutiny. Only after six years of silence did the official Sai apparatus – falsely imagining that they had won in a US court case – take the chance of dealing with the allegations in an article posted on the official Radio Sai website by the second-in-command of the Prashanthi Council,  Dr. G. Venkataraman, the mendacious propagandist. He has since been answered very thoroughly and fully rebutted with complete documentation. See also the true statement of the facts about the lawsuit of Alaya Rahm by the International Just Group, the Rahm family and their lawyer, which clearly shows that Dr. G. Venkataraman has made a concerted bid – in his posting on the official Prashanthi Nilayam website – to deceive the public as to what occurred. He claims that no students to whom he has talked have any knowledge of sexual abuses by Sai Baba, which is exactly what one would expect considering that fully-signed up blind believer Venkataraman would tell Sai Baba who alleged what… That could have drastic consequences for any student who spoke out, and even a virtual death sentence (murders of students have been widely documented). Students at Sai Baba’s colleges have contacted me and told me just that… and none are unaware of the dangers involved in speaking to Venkataraman or identifying themselves in public in any way (unless they are securely and permanently outside India).

Any candid study of Sathya Sai Baba and his environment would need to look at the serious alleged crimes and not least at the almost endless string of wholly absurd and false claims made by this Baba about himself.

Slander by Dr. G. Venkataraman & Joe Moreno

Posted by robertpriddy on April 17, 2009

Among the many intentional untruths that has been spun and spread about Barry Pittard and myself is the claim that we somehow are behind the entire exposè of Sathya Sai Baba. This may seem so to those who only glance at the mass of expose evidence. Apart from early whistle blowers like Tal Brooke and others who received little or no publicity, the sexual abuse allegations were brought into the public sphere by David and Faye Bailey – very close to Sathya Sai Baba before they were overwhelmed by evidence and set about investigating and writing about it all. As soon as this appeared on the Internet, this caused many to write accounts, including numerous sexual abuse descriptions which were highly credible in detail and background. I refused to look at any of them until other matters had increasingly caused me serious doubts about Sai Baba since 1998 V.K. Narasimhan told me in secret about the 1993 murders and blackmail of the police by Sai Baba’s brother. This  I kept to myself until well after V.K. N. died in 2000 and was safe from any retribution.  I first posted an article about Sai Baba’s alleged sex abuses in October 2001! There was already a mass of information and debate on this on the www.

Dr. G. Venkataraman, Sai Baba defender

Dr. G. Venkataraman, Sai Baba defender

Dr. G. Venkarataman – head of Radio Sai and member of Sai Baba’s ruling Prashanthi Council – has lied about me on his misnamed “heart-to-heart” website, where he wrote “Robert Priddy who was one of those who started much of this slander claimed that two Vice Chancellors of Universities in Australia supported the allegations.” This is so far the only claim published against my name by any central Sai official. The distinct activity in the exposure of Sathya Sai Baba’s sexual abuses began already from about April 1999  with many testimonies and documented facts about Sathya Sai Baba’s alleged sex abuses, fraud, deceptions – I did not start any of that. The two Vice-Chancellors were contacted before my time by Glen Meloy and Barry Pittard, I have only referred their contacts with them. Since then I have spoken out on many issues known to me (not least through Sai Baba’s close servitor, V.K. Narasimhan – also my close friend and confidante).

Subsequently I was contacted by numerous students describing the sexual abuses they have had – and/or their friends – at the hands by Sathya Sai Baba. This they did in strict confidence (because I can be trusted by them – while Venkataraman most certainly cannot, since he condones the infamous murders and disclaims all the reported abuses and more…).  I am not spreading “slander” but documented facts, recorded experiences and my opinions about them. But now one sees that Venkataraman does about me. I provide sound information! Apropos, Moreno promotes and defends Venkataraman on the Internet, and also posts some of Venkataraman’s writings on his blogsite “Sathya Sai Baba  – Love, Light & Spirituality”. Since G. Venkataraman does not take any issue with this at all, it amounts to a collusive partnership.

Likewise, Barry Pittard’s disaffection was not introduced to the network of ex-followers until shortly after October 1999, having read the article of the former head of the Sathya Sai Organization, Terry Gallagher. Gallagher had scrupulously investigated various allegations at first hand and also confronted Sathya Sai Baba himself. For well over a year after this time Barry Pittard activities were largely separate to my own, and I did not have contact with him until yet later – and then 0nly months later again did I have my first contact with Glen Meloy.  We did not coordinate any work even then – I did not involve myself in any joint project until later when wide participation was invited across former devotee networks.

Among the many instances where Moreno extracts some detail from critical writings to interpret and spin it in the worst possible light, never pausing to consider alternate, common sense explanations, is his frenetic barrage of attacks concerning affidavits stating sexual abuse. He capitalised extensively on the error made by some writers including Pittard in repeating Hari Sampath’s claim (supported by his group of helpers) that he had gathered over a hundred affidavits. In fact the genuine mistake was that these were signed accounts of prime witnesses about sexual abuses but also about related matters, only some of which were formal legal affidavits.

Complete rebuttal of Dr. G. Venkataraman’s untruthful tract to refute the exposé of Sai Baba

Sathya Sai Baba’s front man on the Internet

Posted by robertpriddy on April 13, 2009

Hardly any need to point out what any Google search on Sathya Sai Baba shows, that the front man defending Sathya Sai Baba and his Organization on the Internet is Gerald Joe Moreno, whose many websites and blogs include hundreds of attack pages against critics.

Despite Moreno’s oxymoronic claim that the Sathya Sai Organization needs no defending, it has been defended by Dr. G. Venkarataman of Radio Sai and also massively by Moreno himself. This defense was done because of documented evidence and testimony on a large scale of its unaccountability, planned disinformation and deceptions of the public, covering up and ignoring crimes, including murder and sexual molestations of which all its leaders are aware. They have failed to exercise duty of care and ignored mandatory reporting.

Firstly, the former major US Sai Org. leader, Dr. John Hislop, demonstrated fully in the letters he wrote (See here) to numerous top Sai Organization officials at the time around 1981-2. Those letters have been attacked constantly and most tendentiously as being counterfeits by Joe Moreno, but this has been proved not to be so in a signed affidavit by Timothy Conway and by confirmation from the original recipient at the San Francisco Sathya Sai Centre of the copy scanned for the exposee.

Secondly, and not least, the current International Chairman of the Sathya Sai Organization. Dr. Michael Goldstein, the absence of any serious investigation of the many testimonies of sexual abuse or those involved when challenged by the BBC’s Eamon Hardy (now BBC’s Executive Producer for Current Affairs Commissioning) after having interviewed numerous of those around the globe who testify to sex abuses by Sathya Sai Baba. Dr.G. Venkataraman – physicist ‘explains’ Sathya Sai Baba

Posted by robertpriddy on September 24, 2008

It seems that this retired physicist G. Venkataraman had been tempted to take upon himself the mantle of philosopher, without having had the requisite training or having worked analytically on the main philosophies and theologies of the world. Not only that, he has donned the role of a spiritual adviser working directly on behalf of God Almighty, Creator of the Universe. Why then, I ask myself, was he wearing such a long face and showed such lack of animation when I met him on two occasions together with V.K. Narasimhan.

Prof. G. Venkataraman wrote a article called ‘God, the Avathar and the Intellectual’ (see www.saibaba.ws/articles2/god_avathar_intellectual.htm
) in which he juxtaposes photos of Einstein, Stephen Hawking with Sathya Sai Baba, Mahatma Gandhi, Adi Shankara, Ramana Maharshi, Shirdi Baba, Lord Rama and the Scottish self-styled ‘religious expert’ writer Bill Aitken. This tabloidal hodge-podge is supposed to be an intelligent article… but it tries to justify – by photographic and general association – the flights of fancy of an under-educated villager like Sathya Sai Baba with the greatest scientists of the modern era (excluding Bill Aitken, an itinerant travel writer published only in India). Einstein and Hawking would most assuredly never have supported the ’teachings’ of any of these solipsistic speculators like Maharshi and Shankara, or deities like Rama, let alone miracle men like Shirdi Sai Baba and the would-be usurper of his local fame and sleight-of-hand merchant, Sathya Sai Baba. So much for Venkataraman’s pathetic idea of what constitutes ‘intellectuality’!
A simple thought experiment for Venkataraman, who believes in ‘eternal entities’ of various kinds. Does the word ‘green’ refer to greenness independent of anything that is or can be thought of as green – or be called green? In other words, is there an universal green, an absolute, eternal ‘green’? The same goes for love… can it exist independently of any instance of a feeling or act which may be rightly called ‘loving’? To say it can is to believe in the independent, non-physical existence of universals. If one thinks so, then one is surely green as a philosopher – still in the era of Plato, and – as a physicist – one is in denial of the very basis of all physics, the principle of the universal conservation of energy.

Venkataraman writes:- Ananthamurthy, I must admit, does not cast aspersions nor sling mud. But he does not hesitate to question, disapprove and dismiss without any semblance, I regret to say, of deep analysis. This of course is quite typical of many intellectuals when it comes to Spiritual matters. Before I come to intellectuals and the problems many of them have in accepting God, I should mention that Ananthamurthy, while dismissing Swami, does not appear to reject Spirituality. On the contrary, he accepts and admires a host of evolved souls like Kabir, Basava, Tukaram, Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and Ramana Maharishi. However, he is not sure where to fit in Swami in all this. He is aware that people flock to Swami in hundreds of thousands but dismisses all that with the remark, “But that magnetism is not spiritual”. He adds, “Spiritualism requires a kind of mind like Jiddu Krishnamurthy. I could argue with him. With Sai Baba, either you believe him or you don’t.”
These days, most intellectuals tend to be agnostic at best and atheist at worst; often it is the latter. Dazzled by the achievements of man in so many dimensions, they are unable to accept God because they are confronted with so many questions for which they do not have answers.
Comment: Contrariwise, Venkataraman is dazzled by Sathya Sai Baba’s deceits and legerdemain into believing there are so many questions which he cannot answer, but Sai Baba can! Atheists like Dawkins are not dazzled, but dazzling in their intellectual achievements (in genetics the popular book ‘The Selfish Gene’ is beyond the grasp of amateur philosopher Venkataraman, let alone Dawkins’ far, far more technical and empirical scientific papers.

Venkarataman: “Having said this, I must point out that there have been and there still are many intellectuals [possibly a minority] who do believe in God, scientists included. Einstein was a famous example. He freely acknowledged that he believed in a Superior Being although his God was not One who sat in judgment, inflicted punishment and all that.”
Comment: Most definitely a minority and a very small one, according to all surveys in recent decades.

Venkarataman: “Talking of scientists, I must not forget to mention late Abdus Salam of Pakistan, who won the Nobel Prize for his incisive work on electro-weak unification. …. A Westerner once asked Salam, “How come you, a scientist, believe in God?” Salam gave a terse reply, “Science is all about the outer world. God is all about the Inner world. Where is the contradiction?”

Comment: The contradiction which escaped the Nobel Prize winner is known to practically all other Nobel Prize winners, it lies in the total rejection of science of any inner world independent of physical causation. Such an ‘inner world’ is simply composed of speculation, the store of mental engrammata including figments of the imagination, misconceptions, false beliefs, superstitions and more. It is all of the same epistemological status as Robert M Price pointed out in ‘Christ A Fiction’: “You ask me how I know he lives?” asks the revival chorus. “He lives within my heart.” Exactly! A figment.

Venkataraman states that he likes best the definition of God given by Gandhi: Gandhi said, “He is no God who merely satisfies the intellect. God to be God must rule the Heart and transforms the senses. He is LOVE.” Now I ask you. Does not this definition fit Swami like a glove?”
Comment: Sathya Sai Baba certainly is no God who can satisfy the intellect, for a start. His supposed ‘Love’ is in question, as there are many who have been deeply offended by him, who have been swindled of larges sums of money by him, who have worked tirelessly for him for decades but been as if ‘cast into the outer darkness’ by him! He has called his critics ‘demons’ and worse. Is THAT love and compassion?
Many of his followers’ hearts are far from being ‘ruled’ by him, let alone his critics and the rest of the world. He does not transform anyone’s sense but deceives the senses with legerdemain and cause many people to misinterpret the evidence of their senses to a high degree.

Venkataraman quotes the young Sai Baba speaking before the Raja of Venkatagiri from around 1950:-

Swami explained: “The saints and sages you are referring to are humans who were in the process of evolving towards God. I, on the other hand, am God come down in human form – that is the difference.”
Comment: This is what Venkataraman believes totally, and everything else is made to fit this Procrustean bed – that Sathya Sai baba is infallible! Some physicist Venkataraman is.

G. Venkataraman – Chief propagandist for ‘God’ G. Venkataraman is keen to imprint on his readers that, in studying anything about science, they are observing “The Glory of God”. This is, of course, an assumption and is not even a testable hypothesis, being a vague (undefined and indefinite) conception which is entirely non-operational.
