Ex-Sai Devotee spoke out about his Sai Baba interview

Posted by robertpriddy on May 3, 2018

ULLRICH   ZIMMERMANN’S   UNDISPUTED  TESTIMONY

A series of film interviews with this young man as partly transcribed below described the excitement of a first interview with Sai Baba which many others have described. Only the private interview in a closed room with him took on a most unwanted aspect.

In three lengthy on-line TV interviews (at the US portal blip.tv.com, since defunct) the former Sai Baba follower, Ullrich Zimmermann, gave a thorough description of his experiences with Sathya Sai Baba. This delivers a major blow to any wishful doubts entertained by the faithful that Sathya Sai Baba practices sex on male devotees.Ullrich’s frank and detailed account of his experiences and his interpretations of them may well be of help to some of the many others who (as he also asserts) have been through similar sexual experiences with Sathya Sai Baba, whether of lesser or greater degree.
There is a transcript of the most revealing part two where he tells of the private interview and Sai Baba’s sexual acts. Then a summary plus partial transcript of part three, where he reflects back on his experiences and the Sathya Sai cult .
The full-length videos were posted by blip.tv but are no longer available there (see wayback machine scans Part One (introductory) – Part Two (the main account of sex etc.) – Part Three (reflections). The image below is copied from blip.tv’s web site .
Both his common sense and his more esoteric musings may well be helpful. He raises the question whether this oral sex was sexual abuse or a ‘divine blessing’, and – when this interview was made all of seven years ago, he did not then regard it as sexual abuse. However, the factual description he gave was of oral sex imposed on him virtually against his will and in his very first meeting with Sai Baba who he believed and trusted in fully as being God. Those of similar faith – such as his mother also was – tend to accept the idea that it was a divine blessing (unless – as most do – they deny it can ever take place). Many other young men from across the world have already independently testified to the same kind of sexual abuses by Sathya Sai Baba through many years (see under ‘Witnesses’ on ExBaba.com). None of them stated they regard the sexual acts as a ‘divine blessing’.Whatever ‘spiritual’ interpretations some devotees may choose to apply here, ExBaba’s campaign to show that Sai Baba does indeed have sexual relations with young men is yet again vindicated. In the interests of truth and the protection of the innocent, former devotees and others around the world have worked – against cover-up and many obstacles – to expose the truth about Sai Baba’s most widely alleged molesting of young males.

Ullrich’s natural honesty is unmistakable as he tells of his whole Sai Baba experience – including the difficult and sensitive subject of oral sex. He, like others who have come forward, cannot be praised sufficiently for his bravery and adherence to truth and decency. As his interviewer says, these revelations will come as a major shock to those Sai devotees who watch the video, not least because of the openness and entirely unassuming character of Ullrich in his self-evaluations and his fearless answers to questions put to him.
Ullrich Zimmermann points out that there is a big difference between a ‘guru’ and a ‘teacher’ – where gurus disempower their followers and rob them of freedom, teachers (as to spirituality) always leave those who seek their advice to make up their own minds and achieve their own way in life. Ullrich followed Sai Baba as a guru, but is now very clear that he no longer wants Sai Baba or any other guru, even though there may have been some temporary benefits from such devotion.

In the first part of this series, Ullrich Zimmermann tells how he came to Sathya Sai Baba and got his first interview. This is of more interest to those who have not been to the ashram. For those who have direct experience of Sathya Sai Baba through personal contact, devotion or in trying to practice his teachings, the first interview will seem too drawn out (playing time up to 1 hour). Ullrich gives a detailed description of how he – and many others no doubt – feel and experience visiting thge ashrams and Sai Baba so as to bring out the way in which – as a keen devotee – he was already largely indoctrinated already, and in a state of nervous expectation etc. He also shows how easily he then believed many things – was indoctrinated like most other devotees – before he even met Sai Baba. However, the conclusions he arrived at – some considerable time after his two sexual contacts – shows a quite other and much more critical perspective (stated in Part Three) .
In Part Two of the series (playing time over 30 mins), Ullrich tells – with a very natural frankness and believability – of his first experiences with Sai Baba in the inner interview room in which he was induced to engage in oral sex (fellatio) on Sai Baba on two occasions, though he was never gay and says he had always felt the idea of being forced into gay sex “the ultimate horror”. Ullrich says he did not feel sexually abused because he had total faith in Sai Baba (as God Incarnate) and trusted he would always do what was best for him. So he went along with the ‘wishes he couldn’t refuse’. Whether this was a ‘divine blessing’ or merely sexual abuse for Sai Baba’s own satisfaction is for readers and the world at large to judge. Ullrich attributes the uplift of spirits some time after it was over to some kind of Tantric energy transmission. However, other explanations do come easily to mind – such as the release of great psychological tensions engendered throughout and the well-known ‘divine salvation’ enthusiasm and the ensuing ‘spiritual honeymoon’ effect, which Sai followers get after achieving an interview so much yearned for and for so long (but which is a temporary phase, as Ullrich honestly tells, lasting only for some weeks in his case).

Not surprisingly, Ullrich was often visibly uncomfortable while relating about this with hesitations and pauses – and some confusion still as to how to understand it all. However, he also seems quite convinced about it having had a spiritual aspect. It is noteworthy that Ullrich tells how the second time Sai Baba got him to suck his penis, he stopped after a short while because he felt too awkward. While withdrawing he noticed some sudden light effect coming from Sai Baba’s penis. This seems to be a main reason why Ullrich believes there was some kind of Tantric transfer involved. The matter remains impenetrable, for it could also have been caused by the tension created by the nervously anticipated awkward situation, affecting his eyes, or possibly having some other psycho-physical cause.

Since the live video interview is very long, transcripts of portions of some of Ullrich’s statements – which are particularly important from the viewpoint of the exposé of Sai Baba’s secret and controversial doings – are given here verbatim, and without comments. They are taken out of the tediously long and involved context, which is nevertheless important for better understanding his standpoint in those interviews, (a full transcript may be added here later). He claims that his relation to Sai Baba brought about a change in somehow ‘opening up’ his personality. In some contrast to this assertion, he also says that it did not make him more genuinely spiritually liberated or give any ‘God-realisation’. He no longer believes Sai Baba can do this. Ullrich’s views may well have changed since he made the recording in 2000.
Ullrich Zimmermann (speaking about Sai Baba in the private interview room):

“So when he says that ‘always thinking about girls’ and I know and I don’t want to… … he says “Oh. Don’t worry” … … and he materialises an oil and he lifts up my T-shirt and he puts that here.” (he describes the places as “on the kundalini line”).Then he kissed me on my mouth…
“It was awkward… and it was also not disgusting.”

“He is looking at me and I know – knew – in my mind that he wanted me to suck his penis.” “and he took my hand… … to his genitals and it felt through the robe like a female with hair – there was no penis and he took my hand again and it was the male and ‘Suck finger, suck male’…”

So he pushes me down, lifts up his robe…” “His penis is… ….like from a child, no hair, small.” “And I took his penis in my mouth… …it was erect…. I had it in my mouth for a while and it was not like doing bliss, it was not like doing a big job or so – at least there was some movement but it was not like a big sexual act or so, and I didn’t feel ejaculation in my mouth… can’t give the time to the minute, maybe one and a half…”

Asked by his interviewer whether Sai Baba ejaculated, Ullrich replied: “I didn’t feel that in my mouth. If you had asked me then I would have said ‘no’ but… I think he did.” “… really very quick. Robe up and the interview was over.”
Interviewer: “Well, did you tell anyone about this, your mother?”
Ullrich: Yes. I did. .. I was in the taxi back to Bangalore… she had also heard rumours and asked me what happened but she saw me in this happy state and so I told her.. I mean she didn’t experience… view that as abuse at all. She’s a Sai Baba follower and she trusts. And of course, having such an experience I wanted to have answers. After that, talking to other people who are living in the ashram and who are there for years with my knowledge and know about these things to happen anyway – it’s happening on a really big scale.”

Interviewer: I mean, it happens every day with some – or – he has a lot of followers so he’s always doing interviews and…
Ullrich: Yeah, but I only say my experience and that is I know – I know one person in eye-to-eye who has had that happen to him, also a young German, and I talked to another person who knew a lot of other people – I mean, I talked to a lot of people…
Interviewer: But they also thought it was a good experience, or some of them were angry?
Ullrich: They were not in anger. I mean, they’re still there. (editor’s note: i.e. in year 2000) They are just confused and for some of them it presses the button more than others but for me the bottom line was what I got, it is white Tantra.

See the comments on how the news of such things affected the followers in UK in 2000 after the David Bailey news first broke there as written by the former President of the UK Organization and Central Coordinator for UK and Ireland.

PART 3 – SUMMARY-CUM-TRANSCRIPT OF THE INTERVIEW WITH ULLRICH ZIMMERMANN

bliptv2
Editor’s note: So that Ullrich’s words come across as clearly as possible, the text is partly summarized to exclude asides, verbal stumbles and some awkward phrasing in English etc., but with all his important statements reproduced verbatim within apostrophes.

Ullrich speaks firstly about the search for solutions to his spiritual desire, having known all the time that “it is something in me and not something delivered by the Church and the standard settings.”
Having rejected Sai Baba as a guru (already 7 years ago) he says that he knows “the difference between a truthful teacher and guru… The useful energy I had when I started my path, for example with Sathya Sai Baba… being lifted up but being only lifted up… and then from my sincere perspective on what is happening down there… to be empowered to empower him.”
Ullrich speaks about playing one’s part as a devotee, which requires “total focus on his person” which involves obtaining some power from him and being changed as Ullrich reports he was but, as he then says: “I also know… I was hooked with Sai baba, there was no freedom whatsoever, there was no acknowledgment of me – (no) giving the knowledge that I am actually God… that everything that is coming out of me I can generate.” Sai Baba “in no way delivered how you can actually implement that in your life.”

“What I wanted was a true spiritual change, otherwise I would never have done that. That was the reason I went there, that was the reason I had the physical experience with him I did have. And there was a change but it was, for me, confusing.”
Ullrich thought that: “If he has an interest in you, if you are a potential powerful battery… then you will get something, o.k.? But you won’t get what you are going for… your major craving for God.”
Ullrich believes instead: “You can only do it yourself, by hard work, by being impeccable in every life situation. And you can do that within the Sai Baba setting and some people do that, but you are always utterly connected to Sai Baba.”
Ullrich insists that it is “not about getting personal liberation… it is about you being part of an energy game, being abused – however you put it – for me, because I really don’t know what Sai Baba is, but he is certainly not somebody who comes from his heart. He’s somebody who is coming from a power, and it is all about power. It is not about you being really empowered, it is about you being empowered to be a powerful feeder.”
Therefore, Ullrich says: “You in your everyday life are the creator of your own reality… …ninety-nine per cent that has to come from me. I made this video … to make clear that you don’t gain that inner spiritual connection with Sai Baba – or any guru for that matter.”
Ullrich says he doesn’t believe that Sai Baba was so low as to do the sex only for his own satisfaction. Alan Steinfeld comments:”He could still be that low”. Ullrich says “O.K., well, maybe he is, but that is not my conception of it.” Then also “It’s all about power and I do see that very, very clearly.”
Ullrich reports that his spiritual teacher (Ramtha) told him twice, “You will teach Sai Baba a lesson.” Ullrich continues: “I do this interview now because I think it might help people… it is probably a way to teach Sai Baba a lesson.”
“Also, the people I know who are really followers… these are powerless people” and he holds that to keep them powerless as Sai Baba does is “to have one’s own agenda, to have an ulterior motive, not truthful.”
Ullrich: “Yes. My understanding of how energy works… a very powerful thing he set forth there. I haven’t been there for eight years or something but I talk to people who were there and they say he is getting more and more tired – having no joy in doing it, I experienced this too when I was there.”

Ullrich also saw “he had nothing to help all these people. Even though Sai Baba picks out people… it is because they are for his agenda. That is also his undoing in himself. I feel sorry for him”Alan Steinfeld: Well, what you’re saying then… even though you can materialize, appear in people… miracles, it doesn’t mean you’re spiritually evolved?”

Ullrich: “It’s just black magic, O.K.? That’s just knowledge about certain laws, the ability to gain them. And that’s very common in India, there are really unevolved beings that have a certain ability of defying what we consider to be firm, physical laws. And these physical laws are shattered, the threshold from Newton’s physics to quantum physics… if you go deeper into any subject.Summing up, Ullrich says of Sai Baba: “That is not a spiritual path… claiming to be a spiritual leader I would assume he is getting a good livelihood. He helps lots of people but there’s an agenda with it. They’re waiting to be taken out, and they’re really good people, people with integrity (Alan comments:’Sincere seekers!’). It’s like people waiting for the end of the world and thinking you will be picked up by an UFO.”

Note that the International Chairman of the Sathya Sai Organization, Dr. M. Goldstein (see ‘The Secret Swami’), denied that any sexual incidents with Sai Baba had ever taken place. This denial was again seen for what it was, a sheer and – for a doctor pretending expertise in sexual abuse – a despicable cover-up of facts. There is full proof that these abuses were known to Goldstein and many other top leaders, not least from Dr. Hislop, whose infamous circular letters to US organization leaders tried to cover up the same kind of allegations in the early 1980s. Dr. G. Venkarataman, the second-in-command of the cover-up by the Prashanthi Council whose closeness to Sai Baba and position of authority gave him every opportunity to check out the facts about Sai Baba’s large-scale homosexual activities that Ullrich [and others] say were well-known to many ashram residents.

In 2001, Prashant Kumar acting for Hari Sampath brought a petition up in the Supreme Court entitled ‘Formal Criminal complaint against Sathya Sai Baba’ (http://www.saibaba-x.org.uk/9/CBI-case-Sampath.html) The judge gave the petitioner lawyer the run around, repeatedly told the lawyers to take it to the Andhra High Court. The Judge in the AP court was a devotee and former driver of Sai Bab, which meant it would get nowhere. Judge Lahot dismissed the petition. The Supreme Court wilfully destroyed the document (to avoid foreign embassies from obtaining the proof)  yet a genuine copy was retrieved from the defence attorney, famous lawyer Kamini Jaiswal (see http://www.saibaba-x.org.uk/14/court.html)

That Sai Baba escaped conviction was due to the impossibility of charging him formally elsewhere than in India, and there he has virtual control of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh and the Supreme Court of India through his devotees who presided over them (led by The former Chief Justice of India, P.N. Bhagwati who was a long-standing worshipper of Baba and a Board member of his Central Trust), fully backed by the Indian PM, President and Home Minister, all his devotes! His totally unaccountable Sathya Sai Organization could not be sued in the US, not being registered as an organization (instead it uses a bookshop as a front for its activities).

Sai Baba sex warnings ignored

Posted by robertpriddy on January 12, 2016

Lest one forget how far back reports of Sathya Sai Baba’s homosexuality go, I re-post some of the many communications received for the edification of those who still believe Sai Baba was ‘pure’. That he also authorised beatings of those who spoke out about his abuses is little known but reported from several reliable sources.

Date: 11-19-02  E-mail to Robert Priddy from Barry Newton, ex-devotee of Sathya Sai Baba.
The following mail was received from a former Australian devotee and office-bearer:

“Dear Robert ~ again your recollections have sparked a memory similar to yours just now posted.

In 1995, the occasion of my and my wife’s first visit to SB. I suppose we should have been very much wiser, but that is only easy to say retrospectively, as a member of the Sai Center we attended gave us this warning prior to our departure: “Don’t listen to what anyone tells you about Swami. There are a lot of rumours going about saying that SB is a homosexual and paedophile and murderer. You’ll hear plenty of rumours about SB, so take no notice.” Retrospectively we truly wish that we had listened carefully to the ‘rumours’.

However we went anyway, and our first encounter at the SB ashram was at the accommodation office where we payed for two weeks accommodation up front, requiring 500 rupees change from the large notes issued at the money exchange. The accommodation attendant took the money, put the correct amount in the till, removed the 500 rupees and, looking me squarely in the eye, closed down the window and brazenly walked out of the room. We waited for quite some time until we realised that he would not be returning with the money. As do all Sai devotees, we rationalised it off as a test of our faith by SB. And as do all ex-devotees, we see it now for what it truly was – organised crime.
Yours in truth ~ Barry Newton”

Former long-term devotee and teacher at Sai Baba’s Brindavan College for over a year, Barry Pittard of Brisbane, wrote:-

“Between 1979 and 1982 I heard four stories, described below, relating Sathya Sai Baba to homosexuality: from Joseph (U.S.A.) in 1979; Donna (U.S.A.), perhaps in the same year; Connie Raadsma, a close neighbour of mine in Australia, in 1981; and an Australian woman who spoke to me at Puttaparthi in 1982. Like me, Joseph and Donna were of the tiny handful of long-stay Westerners he permitted to live around him, mostly in Whitefield I taught for two years at his college there), about 20 km from Bangalore, India’s fifth largest city. Donna was now one of a few Sathya Sai Baba forbade from entering his ashrams but who, ever faithful, would stand outside the gate straining to glimpse him. She claimed that she had spoken to various older Puttaparthi residents who said that Sai Baba had been homosexual even as a boy. (Note: expert evidence attests that most homosexuals do not practice child molestation). Perhaps Donna was expelled from the ashram for opening her mouth a bit too widely! Let us see in a moment what happened to Joseph when he opened his. And what happened to me, too.

In July 1982, acting only out of care for her (and indeed for all who may hear such stories), the moment I passed on the Australian woman’s concerns – who in great anxiety had sought me out for advice as having lived at the Sathya Sai Baba ashrams extensively – to two of Sathya Sai Baba’s top leaders Howard Murphet (Australia) and Richard Bayer (USA) about allegations of his homosexuality, I was called up to the office day after day by the Puttaparthi ashram manager, Kutumb Rao, a retired High Court Judge, confronted with patently ridiculous accusations, and on the fourth day told “Swami has asked that you be sent out, and never return.” (One of the accusations was: You were seen in the ashram talking to a woman.” It can only have been the Australian woman who came up to me in distress).

In 1979, in the crowd awaiting Sai Baba’s public appearance (darshan), sat Joseph. Called a hippy by the village children (who may have been right), he appeared to be in his psychedelic thirties, and was one of three or so Westerners remaining after the hippies and others had departed from Sai Baba in the late sixties. Joseph began to discourse, for all of us to hear – and I sat just behind him. With rising stress levels and moral outrage, he said more than once that some college boys had told him that Sai Baba had asked a number of them (in Joseph’s words) to “line up and masturbate.” On the third or so day of Joseph’s dark rumblings, six hefty Indian male service volunteers (seva dals) came and carried him out, ordering him not to return. The immensely powerful Joseph fought them, roaring out the accusations for all to hear. A very distressed Indian man said to me, “If Sai Baba is God, why do they need to use all this violence against this man?” An hour afterwards, one of the volunteers told me that ejecting Joseph was ‘like wrestling a tiger.’ He told me that his task saddened him, as he had known Joseph for so many years.

For the next days, while people awaited darshan (Sanskrit: viewing of a holy person), Joseph climbed a tree outside the ashram wall, and cried out the allegations for us all to hear. Then, he was gone. I heard from my close friend and local resident, Siva Subramanian, a Tamil who knew some of the Tamil police constables, that the Kadugodi police had badly thrashed Joseph and sent him on his way. So much, then, for the cardinal doctrine of ahimsa or non-violence in Sathya Sai Baba’s ashrams and in the land that still daily venerates Mahatma Gandhi along with the Dalai Lama, the towering apostles of non-violence.”

Rahul Sharma from Canada was the victim of a most gruesome incident at Sathya Sai Baba’s Ootacamund school:-

“Rahul was a smart looking boy who got close to SB through the help of the teachers, like the Principal Mr. Habbu, who were looking for smart boys to speak in public and to go closer to SB. Rahul was abused in the very first interview. He used to cry a lot. Even when he disclosed it to his father, this stupid man beat his son with chappals in plain view in front of the school. Later on Rahul did a very brave thing which surprised everyone and that is why we think he was thrown out. While Speaking before Sai Baba in public in the Poornachandra Hall, he very clearly stated that swami had shown him in private in the interview room his SHIVA SWAROOP FOLLOWED BY ARDHANARISHWAR ROOP (that means, God Shiva as half man and half woman). For one moment even Sai Baba looked stunned. Later on the boy was given a terrible thrashing for this glaring mistake.

Today, I cannot but respect the bravery of that boy. I think this shows the terrible nature of working at the Sai-schools. I still fail to understand what made” People like Principal Habbu or Munni Kaul partners in crime at Puttaparthi.” (see here)

Two revealing testimonial comments (below) made on an Express Buzz article (shown in full here) were:-

TO: Krishnakumar- I used to be a devotee of Sai Baba till my boyfriend was given a private meeting when he took him inside and asked him to do sexual things with him. My boy friend was shocked , he refused, came out. My boy friend is heterosexual. We both left Puttaparthi because, after that we were threatened by Sai Baba’s thugs. We were both 23 yrs old. We realized that we had to leave. So don’t live in your make believe world!!!! Wake up. I bet you are not sexually interesting , otherwise he would have tried you too. By Linda Burton 12/26/2009 11:45:00 PM

Dear Arun, Nice to have a bright person like you in our midst. By Srilakshmi 12/26/2009 11:38:00 PM Dear Sethuraman and Krishnakumarji, I am not basing my allegations on some hearsay. I have spoken to Tanya Dutta. Please see the way Murali Manohar Joshi responding in Youtube. Why would God want to put a boy’s penis in his mouth? Please read the interviews in Youtube. Why would anybody defame himself by saying these things he had with sai baba? And so many people? Why would God want to perform miracles and give diamonds and rings to rich people? Why is India so Poor if God lives in India? Why would God have such kitsch taste and be born so ugly? … Read his autobiography: Hisstory , this book is a clear indication of his complete lack of intelligence. If you get impressed by a man like this you are emotionally retarded. Sorry to be so straight! By Srilakshmi

Sathya Sai Organization President of 10 states resignation

Posted by robertpriddy on October 30, 2010

Among the many professional who were leaders in the Sathya Sai Organization who learned from victims and their families of sexual abuses by Sathya Sai Baba was the child psychologist Shirley Pike – who is hence also a mandatory reporter of abuses. She took the full consequences of her discoveries, unlike many of those leaders in the organization who failed to heed their consciences despite all the pompous talk about truth, goodness and human values. These self-serving leaders of Sai Baba’s organization and other institutions have further tried their utmost to hide not only the facts but all reports by those who have confirmed those facts through professional and personal investigations. This applies as much to all who are promoting Sathya Sai Baba today as it did in the past. Actually, they are pitiful examples of persons suffering under cognitive delusions upheld by personal emotional and social needs for a guru figure and the imagined ‘meaning to life’ that his doctrine propagates – even though he is thoroughly compromised in many ways and by his own words. Such weakness of character is not at all uncommon, of course, but it is no less indefensible for that.

Letter Of Resignation

BY SHIRLEY PIKE

EDITORIAL, Jan 22 (VNN) — Comment

Dear Editor,

I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your compassionate and thoughtful editorial entitled “An Open Letter To The Followers Of Sathya Sai Baba” by Frank Morales. I resigned my position as president of a ten state region in the United States in late May (see attached resignation letter) after learning about the allegations and verifying them to my satisfaction. I have been working with an international group of ex-devotees, many of them the actual victims of Sathya Sai Baba’s sexual molestation, for the last six months to expose this “horrific scandal”, as you so aptly term it.

The saddest and most difficult aspect of all of this is the damage done to Sathya Sai Baba’s devotees and to their faith. Many families, my own included, are torn assunder as some members retain their faith in Sathya Sai Baba in the face of all evidence to the contrary. Those who take a stand against him are shunned, losing a community they held dear for decades in many cases.

Not only is the focus of your spiritual life gone, but your friends and family and community are gone as well. Thank you so much for reaching out and offering support to us in this very dark hour. That is true dharma.

Sincerely and God Bless,
Shirley Pike
former president of the North Central Region of the Sathya Sai Baba
Organization of the United States of America

Letter of Resignation

May 28, 2000 Dear brothers, sisters, and officers of the North Central Region and the Central Council, It is with great pain and sadness that I am writing to you today. One week ago, I resigned as president of the North Central Region, giving verbal notification to the National Coordinator, William Harvey, Ph.D. Serving the North Central Region’s centers, study groups, and individual devotees has been one of the most joyful and fulfilling experiences of my life. Never have I had the privilege of knowing so many wonderful, loving, giving, and spiritually dedicated people. I thank all of you for your gracious and kind support of me as we worked together for our spiritual growth and development. The reason for my resignation will probably dismay and shock many of you. A few weeks ago I received information from a fellow long-time devotee of an e-mail she had received concerning acts of pedophilia by Sathya Sai Baba. I had the e-mail forwarded to me and I personally investigated the information contained in that e-mail. I spoke personally to various individuals who had first hand experience with inappropriate behavior by Sai Baba. These individuals are respectable, credible, intelligent and have no axes to grind of any sort. I came away from these conversations believing these individuals and have therefore resigned and am sending you this letter. I am in the midst of a personal grieving process, involving all the typical stages of grief, including shock, denial, bargaining, profound sadness, despair, and acceptance. I am grieving because I believe that Sathya Sai Baba is a charlatan, who has used the power gained by the love and reverence of his followers and the truth of ancient Vedic Doctrines and Scriptures to sexually molest boys and young men from about the ages of eight to thirty. It is these allegations of unspeakable, abhorrent sexual molestation that force me to write this letter to you. I have personally investigated these allegations and spoken with several people who have either had direct personal sexual experiences or who know someone very well, i.e. an immediate family member, who has been abused.

Two of these individuals are former regional officers, who have resigned their posts and whom I have known for many years. I trust them, know them to have exemplary character and believe they would not lie. Further, they have nothing to gain and everything to lose by coming forward with their experiences. These experiences include numerous accounts of Sai Baba rubbing male genitals with oil, mutual masturbation, mutual oral sexual gratification, and even anal intercourse by Sai Baba. As a child psychologist who is familiar with the emotional devastation that sexual abuse causes its victims and the classic patterns of abuse, I found these accounts and the individuals’ reactions, to my horror, highly credible.

As a school psychologist, I am a mandatory reporter. This means that under Iowa law I am required to report any allegation or well founded suspicion to the authorities. If Sai Baba were a mere trickster fleecing people for their money, I would prefer to go quietly into the night, preserve my friendships with devotees, and not disrupt the faith of others. But, as an officer who has promoted Sathya Sai Baba as an avatar, I have both a moral and a legal obligation to warn all of the members and officers in this region and the national leaders that any male between approximately the ages of eight and thirty is potentially at risk for sexual molestation should they go to India to see Sathya Sai Baba and have a private interview.

I do not expect anyone to take what I am saying at face value. If you wish to investigate on your own as I have done, then feel free to contact me and I will provide you with the information to reach those who have had direct experiences and
you can make your own determination. Please begin by looking at “The Findings” by David Bailey on this website: http://www.exbaba.com/articles/p_holbach/eng/finds_e.htm. You can telephone me at (319) 373-2434 or email me at sairama@home.com, but only if you are sincerely interested in additional information. I do not wish to engage in arguments or debate. My heart goes out to one and all and my love for you remains steadfast. I will miss your good company more than you can know. May God bless you and keep you, and give you peace.
