Sai Baba’s Distance and Unapproachability – a reminder

Posted by robertpriddy on September 8, 2011

During all his life, Sathya Sai Baba’s behaviour at darshan set up considerable hurdles to the understanding and did not exactly make for a feeling of overflowing divine acceptance and love. Rather, Sai Baba seemed to aim to confuse and bamboozle people as much as possible… it helped to sustain the belief in his “inscrutability” (claimed to be divine inscrutability, of course!). Those who claimed to experience his love (subjectively), when one got to know them better, very often turned out to be people who are impressionable, who seem to hold out-of-touch views on many matters, and are imprecise in their words and inaccurate in reporting or remembering things. Sathya Sai Baba continually drummed into his audience that he was the only embodiment of pure love, he loved everyone, everyone loved him, none could compare with him as a lover of all beings and the entire cosmos… which became a delusion all who became attacked to his or his environment one had to uphold at all times – to contradict it was to be excluded entirely. All conformed in their opinions and beliefs very largely to that which is the expected minimum norm within the circle of committed followers and which was de rigeur for anyone aspiring to gain privileges or relative closeness to Sathya Sai Baba in person.

One can see Sathya Sai Baba’s attitude and bearing as feeling himself majestically ‘above it all’, or one can equally interpret this as the arrogance of a person with much social power and delusions of grandeur and a wildly exaggerated idea of his own knowledge and prophetic insight. It was more like the strictness of a distant headmaster who will never bide to be gainsaid, and indeed he never would tolerate being crossed in any manner, however trivial. A sense of his distance from others was often seen in the anxious servility in exchanges even between him and some of his most trusted office-bearers. Such persons, whether Indians or other VIPs – were mostly tight-lipped, unsmiling and unduly secretive persons, who concealed all possible internal matters having to do with Sai Baba, his organisation or other works from any but the chosen few. This obviously effected an unbridgeable social and mental-emotional gap between important Sai officials and ‘ordinary’ devotees, one to which there were very few exceptions in my experiences and in that of many others I knew. It had a signal effect on the whole hierarchy below Sai Baba, forming inner circles in the organization who were totally subservient to – and dependent for their position and privileges – on the International Chairman (originally Indulal Shah) – a kind of international jet-set elite who invited one another around the world to hold forth at conferences and who conferred mutually to keep quiet anything they can which might affect their own positions in Baba’s favour and within the organisation that bears his name.

The Sathya Sai Organization had no influence, on the yet higher echelons of power in Sai Baba’s hierarchy, the board members of his Sai Central Trust, who were largely not even controllable by him. Most of that clique remains – especially Srinivas, Ratnakara and Bhagvati and had been involved in bitter in-fighting over the Trust, its direction and wealth. They presided over the situation when Sathya Sai Baba was in intensive care and on life support. When being taken to the hospital under the supervision of the Trust and his young paramour Satyajit, Sathya Sai Baba cried out ‘Please help me’ to some devotees present while he was being taken to the hospital (Minister Nagi Reddy’s testimony). His trusted servitors on the Sai Trust discussed burying him alive… until they realized this would not be taken very well even by many followers! All the evidence of pre-planning for the funeral, casket, security, visits by luminaries etc. indicates most strongly that they decided among themselves well in advance that he should expire on Easter Sunday (i.e. disconnect him from his life support) to try to support the illusion many had that he was Christ come again… or, if not that, that he was the Father who sent Jesus to earth (as her openly pronounced in a famous discourse!). Dr. Michael Goldstein, supporter of the totally indefensible

The Sathya Sai Organization has retreated yet deeper within it’s shell, they are all very quiet in public now that the truth about their failed God Incarnate Avatar World saviour has come out in wave after wave. The International Chairman, Dr. M. Goldstein, whose life was meaningless before Sathya Sai Baba, has gone invisible and presumably ceased to bruit his stories and tell his message around the world. Except, that is, when he is safely surrounded by fully signed-up blind believing Sai folloers. Just so one does not forget what utterly incredible and obviously megalomaniac beliefs he stands for – as do those he supposedly ‘leads around the world, here is a brief video clip showing what he told a London audience less than a decade ago:-

Senior Ex-CID officer J.V. Ram on Sai sex scandals – part 3

Posted by robertpriddy on August 9, 2010

V.J. Ram (aka Janakiram) was a senior Indian CID officer who was awarded the President’s Police Medal, having solved many difficult criminal cases. His book ‘The Godmen of India’ is extremely revealing of certain Indian gurus, especially as regards the long history of formally unsolved criminal incidents connected to Sathya Sai Baba and his coterie. Here is the seventh of a series of excerpts from his book:- Here Janaki Ram writs about the whistle-blower on Sai Baba sexuality, Tal Brooke and the subsequent wave of exposures from India and around the world.
