None of the TV channels CNBC TV 18, CNN IBN, Doordarsan, ITV nor Aaj Talk, All India Radio, nor even the main national newspapers like Times of India, Express India allindianews.in etc. , had a single report about the anniversary of Sathya Sai Baba’s death. NDTV and ZEE TV simply reproduced the same standard and brief telegram bureau news speculations on the size of expected anniversary gathering at Prashanthi Nilayam. Zeenews had a similar report (see short excerpt ). The Indian press has virtually ignored everything relating to Sathya Sai Baba this year, including his anniversary festival.
The ‘celebrations’ of his death were not visited by any notables from the central government or Delhi, just one Minister of Andhra Pradesh State and a few old Sai-VIPs who are mostly unknown outside the Sai Baba movement.
Most significant, perhaps, is that no statements have been made anywhere about the actual numbers who attended the anniversary ceremonies, and no photos showing and sizable crowd has been released, as used to be shown with pride whenever there were more than about 10,000 visitors visible at former birthday celebrations.
Zeenews also stated: (Last Updated: Tuesday, April 24, 2012, 13:49) ” Although the entire town has been decked up to welcome devotees — 30,000 to 50,000 people are expected to come – the focus would be Prashanthi Nilayam… final resting place of Sathya Sai.
Sathya Sai Central Trust, which runs a masslve spiritual emplre, is organlslng a series of programmes to mark the flrst annlversary of Baba‘s passlng away on Aprll 24 last year at the age of 85 followlng prolonged illness.
The annlversary comes amid controversy over Sathya Sai’s final resting place. Even though Samadhl work is completed, the Trust has not yet finalized plans on installing a statue in Sai Kulwant Hall, where Sai Baba was buried, as a section of trustees are said not to be in favour of it. “
A prolonged illness, yes indeed. The self-proclaimed God Creator of the Universe died after wasting away in body and mind due to an unrevealed illness and a parody of a death certificate saying he died of ‘heart failure’ – a non-valid cause of death, according to all informed coroners and medical science. Was it AIDS that cause the cover-up? There is circumstantial evidence that this was so.
In a parody of presenting news of the “latest” darsans, discourses and whatnot by Sathya Sai Baba, the garish website saibabaofindia.com (with its wallpapers and photos of unattractive faces of an elderly Sai Baba) has slowed down considerably and nothing of import is happening as regards their deceased idol. The Deccan Herald reported 26/4/2012 that devotees were thronging to Prashanthi, but explained that they did make even a fraction of the funeral crown last year. Other negative tendencies were also remarked upon. See thumbnail:-
