Exposing major deceits by guru Sathya Sai Baba in India, incl. murders cover-up & widely alleged sexual abuse

Sai Baba Proxy Attacker of Ex-followers and the Media

Posted by robertpriddy on March 13, 2009

Gerald Joe Moreno declares himself to have no association of any kind with the Sathya Sai organization, which he nonetheless defends constantly by trying to assassinate  the character of all its scores of critics, and nowhere calling for the sect’s accountability.

Gerald Moreno As Frontman For Sathya Sai Cult

The evidence is that he is being fed by the very hand he denies.  Not one single Sathya Sai Organization leader or member has criticised or denounced his behaviour. Nor do those who have left the Sai cult more recently report any attempt to advise Sai devotees not to cooperate with Moreno’s constant attacks, vilifications, libels and contacts with Sai devotees around the world. This stark fact further confirms and illustrates the cultist nature of this movement.

Despite his close contact and coordination with leading Sai Baba activists, Moreno even claims that he is not a devotee or a follower of Sathya Sai Baba, for whose cause he has fought constantly for many hours virtually every day for years throughout many extensive web sites, blogs, and postings – this even while he was believing the guru to be a sexual abuser (see here)! He cites instances of Sai Baba’s (non-medical) touching the private parts of young males as though such actions were not forbidden in the statute books of many legal systems throughout the world. He refuses – either deliberately or because he is incredibly naive – to grant that such incidents are crimes. He ceaselessly proclaims, irrelevantly, that Sai Baba has never been brought to any court trial.

Gerald Joe Moreno makes many wildly incorrect assumptions and wilful misleading statements on his web pages and  blogs. He has accused several of us, variously, as being fascists, Christian fundamentalists, anti-Semites, perverts, druggies, blatant liars (scores of times!) when we are none of these. The smallest mistake or something not properly explained (or unable to be explained so as to protect victims), or fact that he deems to bear only his narrow and worst-case interpretation, he immediately brands as “lies”, “deceptions”, “cheating”, “dishonesty”, etc., etc., …

He accuses us in a manner not done within our communities in all the decades of our lives. The opinion of one former devotee he will foist on an extended group, using such labels as “anti Sais”. In fact, former devotees who have called for proper investigation of the allegations come from a wide array of different social and cultural backgrounds and the major religions and secular paths such as rationalism and humanism, and are not some amorphous, homogenous group.

See below for the link to the independent British scholar Kevin Shepherd’s detailed analysis of some examples of Gerald Joe Moreno’s poor conduct in regard to Wikipedia editing. Shepherd was never a devotee of Sai Baba.

Moreno was indefinitely suspended for most serious breaches -including repeated immoderation of language, and antagonism even towards senior Wikipedia staff. But Shepherd’s measured and scholarly treatment is all the more commendable given that he, like so many others who have questioned Sai Baba and his sect, has been strongly attacked by Moreno. For another example of decency and restraint typical of almost all former devotees, see:

Recent correspondence with Joe Moreno from Timothy ConwayPh.D. – former President of the Sathya Sai Baba Centre of San Francisco.

and also that of a former top leader in the Sathya Sai Organisation, Al Rahm in reply to an email to him by Moreno, who has repeatedly attacked the good faith of the Rahm family:
