Janakiramiah, Sai Baba’s blackmailing younger brother

Posted by robertpriddy on July 31, 2007

Executed Sai servitors

My close friend and Sai Baba’s close servitor, V.K. Narasimhan (former top Indian journalist), gave me a straightforward account of what he knew about the events of June 6th 1993. Otherwise I would still have believed Sai Baba and his various accomplices in the ashram and the Central Trust to be innocent of involvement. But they were not! I guarantee on my honour that what follows is an accurate report from my notes made the same day. When in private I asked Narasimhan, in January 1996, what he thought had occurred because I had heard various highly conflicting accounts. He replied: “they did a terrible thing”, referring to Sai Baba’s henchmen and using those exact words. Top ashram officials and Central Trust members, and particularly Sai Baba’s younger brother, Janakiramiah, blackmailed the police, when they at long last arrived on the scene, into shooting the four intruders in cold blood, and to claim it was in self-defence.

Narasimhan repeated a conversation he had been present to later on when Jankiramaiah – Sai Baba’s younger brother – was talking about the incident with “a very high official in the Indian Government”, who was then the Indian Home Minister, S.B. Chavan. Janakiramiah always held and publicly announced via the press that the intruders into the temple who killed two attendants who tried to stop them gaining entry had really intended to assassinate Sathya Sai Baba! [Yet Sai Baba has denied this vehemently in public!]

V.K.N. told me in a lowered voice that S.B. Chavan had congratulated Janakiramiah on having had the four intruders shot by the police and one of them commented “Dead men tell no tales”, whereupon they actually laughed together. Narasimhan was very shocked. When one considers his position at that time, it is easy to see how powerless he was to stand up and announce what he knew. His life would almost certainly have been in danger.
VK Narasimhan, whose word I just cannot doubt on this, also told me how the ashram/Central Trust authorities were able to blackmail the police into executing by shooting the four youths who had knifed to death Baba’s two attendants… and they used it! Learning all this to be indisputable fact shook my view of everything around Sai Baba worse than anything before, but – due to my comittment to Sai Baba and his works then – I could not absorb it and fully accept the obvious implications for several years. Armed only with knives, the youths could have been disarmed or – at worst – shot to disable them, if they had actually threatened the police.

See ‘Shocking Revelations from V. K. Narasimhan’ http://www.saibaba-x.org.uk/16/VKN_faith_shaking_events.html Also see here https://robertpriddy.wordpress.com/2007/05/29/sathya-sai-baba-bedroom-murders-fifth-part/.

Janakiramiah was thereafter elevated by Sathya Sai to a position on the Sathya Sai Central Trust – even though he had for many years been banned even from entering the ashram by Sathya Sai. When Janakiramiah met his end, – having become a multi-millionaire through property speculation in Puttaparthi (and oft-reported as running the brothel opposite the main ashram entrance!), Sai Baba made a great fuss over the loss, and reportedly broke down in public, more or less.

See below some excerpts from a long e-mail originating from ‘Rita’ (Bruce?) which was forwarded to me [—–Original Message—– From: luis marquez [mailto:saibaba15@hotmail.com]

“The body was soon brought to their village house (a few houses before the birthplace of Swami, the Siva temple) where pandemonium reigned. I didn’t go there, but I saw the events on the local TV channel: pathetic scenes of his poor wife falling on the body and crying, and of his son sobbing uncontrollably. The body was already alarmingly swollen and bloated. Hundreds of people then filed past the body.”
“Swami had cleverly organised a function to hold people’s attention! Swami came about 3:30 PM to the Darshan hall”. … “Swami indicated that He, too, wanted to speak!”

“First Swami sang the poem about the greatness of Indian women, ironically starting with the line about how Savitri brought her dead husband back to life! His voice faltered with emotion several times. Swami then began talking about the power of God that is in man, and how one such great Shakti was Janakiram! He said that although Janakiram may have had harsh speech, inside his heart was soft and calm. He repeated this several times.””Then He immediately started talking about how Rama felt when his beloved brother Lakshmana fainted on the battlefield. Rama said, “How can I ever find a brother like you? It is not possible!” Swami went on; several times His voice cracked and fathered, and two or three times He had to stop mid-sentence because He actually started to sob! It was a heart-rending moment, the closest Swami has ever come to outright, real crying.”

Visitors to Sathya Sai Baba

Posted by robertpriddy on July 29, 2007

oddball

Sathya Sai Baba wants his followers to quash social contacts and reduce friendships. Why?

Sai Baba has spoken out frequently against developing social contacts or friendships at the ashrams, and especially intimate relationships (not surprisingly, considering his extremely traditional views on the relations between the sexes). But some normal contact is almost inevitable with both Indians and people from all other parts of the world. There are, it seems more and more likely, unspoken reasons for Sai Baba’s trying to reduce social contacts to a minimum and enforce silence whenever possible and repeatedly warn people against talking unless strictly necessary! There is a great deal which is covered up and it takes many years and chance discoveries for most people to begin to know the depth of the deceits practiced by Sai Baba and his officials,.

What kind of followers does Sai Baba have?

Since 1984 I met a number of sensible and good persons  in the Sai movement, some fairly prominent in their walks of life, and some  of them well educated… some were helpful, solicitous and generous minded,  but this was definitely not the case with the majority! Those persons named as ‘professors’ by  Sathya Sai, whether engaged at his educational institutions, whether Indian or from  abroad, have not in general impressed me in any way (I was already professionally acquainted  with too many unimpressive academic professors anyhow).  There are no well-known scientists or international educators among them, as far as I could discover. To give just one example, Sathya Sai himself  introduced me in 1986 to a history professor at his university, a Mr. Krishnamurthi, who turned out to be a highly impressionable man who believed some of  the Indian myths in the Mahabharata to be literal factual accounts and who had very simplistic ideas about European philosophy. All the teachers who work for Sai Baba believe in his supposed miracles, and often the most unlikely and absurd accounts too!

My friend V.K. Narasimhan, Sai Baba’s close servitor through two decades, rather shocked me when he told me that not one Sai student he knew (and he knew most of them) was capable of any independent thought, due to the system of learning-by-heart (not head!”).

I could not help but become aware through personal contacts that Sathya Sai certainly draws a disproportionate number of people of little spiritual understanding, both as regards knowledge and insight and also in so as far as their behaviour spoke. One may argue that it is necessary for Sathya Sai to attract a great many who need to be changed, or to change themselves, if the world is to become a better place. It is evident from his discourses, in which he repeatedly propounds moral values at a level and in a way suited to the understanding of those lacking in proper fellow-feeling, personal honesty and common decency. Some of these people are also given privileges and high positions by him, which many of us have also experienced happens in the selections of higher office-bearers in the Sai organisation by Sathya Sai.

Sai Baba selects as his favourites those who have blind faith in him, will believe everything he says, never question anything and actively partake in cover-up operations!

Benefit of the doubt

Posted by robertpriddy on July 29, 2007

The Daily Mail of U.K. wrote an article in 2007 that I am informed has been removed- It “highlighted a number of allegations contained in the Particulars of Claim which were reportedly found to be untrue at Trial. So the article is selective in its allegations and does not make it clear they were not substantiated at trial. When this story was reported it took the information from the particulars of claim but did not have the sight of the other pleadings or for that matter of the Judgement that was finally delivered by the Judge at the end of the trial. After the trial, M*****’s solicitor wrote to the Daily Mail to tell them the claims in this article had been proven to be untrue at the Trial and therefore to remove the article from their website as it was misleading to the public.”

The original blog appearing here has therefore been deleted.

Avoidance of the law in India

Posted by robertpriddy on July 27, 2007

Supreme Court of India

Inequality before the law in India

Concerning the avoidance of justice by Sathya Sai Baba through his many highly-placed devotees in the legal system and successive Indian Governments, his supporters make much of the fact that he has not been brought before a court (he cannot be brought before any court but an Indian one as he always remains in India). No one who has any knowledge of Indian affairs should be surprised that the rich and influential in India can escape justice much more easily even than in the USA or Europe. Proof of this is put forward by India Resource Center, which contributes to advance the understanding of corporate accountability, human rights, labor rights, social and environmental justice issues. They have posted an article about the Noida murders (see here) which show indisputably that justice in India is a two-tier system and is also very inefficient.

The Supreme Court can throw out petitions the judges do not like without any cogent reasons being given, as in the case of Kamini Jaiswal’s petition against Sathya Sai Baba in 2001 (see an account here) and view the Supreme Court document proving the petition was presented and rejected here. Photos of these judges are shown here:

Another writ petition was rejected by the Sai-biased High Court of Andhra Pradesh (see here )That Sathya Sai Baba had the highest protection is proven by the published letter of a former Prime Minister and Supreme Court judge (see here)!

Emperors who are worshipped

Old Off Wine, New Bottles
From Edward Gibbon’s The Decline and Fall of the
Roman Empire.  “It was the fashion of the times to attribute every remarkable event to the particular will of the Deity; the alterations of nature were connected by an invisible chain with the moral and metaphysical opinions of the human mind; and the most sagacious divines could distinguish, according to the color of their respective prejudices, that the establishment of heresy tended to produce an earthquake, or that a deluge was the inevitable consequence of the progress of sin and error.” Edward Gibbon Chap. XXVI – The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire. [Chap. XXVI]
This is just what India’s most revered religious icon, the supposed “holy man” Sathya Sai Baba, still teaches today! (See here).

Further, Gibbon’s intelligent description fits the Sathya Sai Central Trust and Organization like a glove, but this took place already when the Roman Catholic Church was established by Emperor Constantine:
…preachers recommended the practice of the social duties; but they exalted the perfection of monastic virtue, which is painful to the individual and useless to mankind. Their charitable exhortations betrayed a secret wish that the clergy might be permitted to manage the wealth of the faithful for the benefit of the poor. The most sublime representations of the attributes and laws of the Deity were sullied by an idle mixture of metaphysical subleties, puerile rites, and fictitious miracles. [Chap. XX]

We see here how nothing much changes where organized religious doctrine and faith rule… millions still adhere to outworn ideas and falsities – not least those of Sathya Sai Baba. It is a primitive world where pre-scientific thought and superstition abound and sustain the same money and power structures that have mostly kept humanity in chains for aeons. See HERE how the Sathya Sai Organization works today. Also see ‘The Decline and Fall of the Showman Empire’

Cash for Honours, Sai Baba style

Posted by robertpriddy on July 25, 2007

James Sinclair
Buying Into ‘God’s Time’ – Sai Baba’s favouring the wealthy

It is considered a great heresy among believers to point out that Sai Baba’s time can be bought, for he is God who has all the time in the world etc. Unfortunately for this bent reasoning, all this time does not allow the earthbound Sai Baba to talk and give interviews to more than a small fraction of the very large and pressing personality cult around him. Considering this it is not surprising that people try to use the normal ‘short cuts’ like money, personal power and influence and numerous other ways of obtaining what is then treasured as ‘grace from God’. But this is what often happens in fact, however rosily the transaction is described as ‘receiving grace’ or ‘rewards for being a great Sai worker’. There is, of course, no deal and no exchange of the blatant sort. The transaction is much more subtle than that, and from the donors viewpoint there does not seem to be any connection between what they give and what Sai Baba ‘donates’ of his attention or time in return. However, one way to obtain donations from wealthy persons is to make much of them, praise and flatter, and give privileges, manifest so-called ‘diamond’ rings for them and give them free accommodation etc. If they have any decency, they will invariably respond with whatever they can contribute. This is just what occurs in case after case, and has done so since long before the famous Dr. N. Bhagavantam left Sai Baba around 1983 at least partly because he evidently detested this! To refuse a donation – as Sai Baba often does – only increases tenfold the fervour of many donors, who then wish to give much more. It supposedly helps one feel one is an acceptable person in God’s eyes after all!

At Kodaikanal in 1991, I daily observed that Mr. James Sinclair, the precious metals magnate and donor of well over a billion dollars in all to Sathya Sai, had unheard-of daily half-hour private interviews before darshan for over a week 4 (his wife included). Money talks! Interestingly, Mr. Sinclair has published (in the U.S. Sathya Sai Newsletter – 80th Birthday Commemoration edition) the fact that his wife was personally called by Sathya Sai Baba so that she could be killed in a massive taxi accident! This he saw as a blessing to her and wrote the following amazing words: “thank you, beloved Swami, for having such compassion to your totally devoted child, Barbara, to have cured her of the most insidious disease, ‘I am the body'” One cannot but wonder how much money Barbara Sinclair left by testament to the Sathya Sai Central Trust and where it now is.  (The poor taxi driver was killed too… presumably a double blessing and cure of the alleged disease of life?)

Dr. H. Narasimhaiah and Sathya Sai Baba

Posted by robertpriddy on July 24, 2007

Dr. H. Narasimhaiah

Dr H. Narasimhaiah was an uncompromising rationalist, a friend and lifelong supporter of Mahatma Gandhi and president of the National Education Society. HN, as he was popularly known, originated in 1962 the Bangalore Science Forum to promote the scientific temper. In that spirit it hosted thousands of lectures and showed over 500 films before his death in 2005. His credo was “Do not accept anything without questioning”, though he was never an atheist. His office was adorned with a quotation of Albert Einstein on the wall “Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds”.
Well, Dr. Narasimhaiah was certainly no mediocre mind, for he promoted science in education to such an extent and of such quality that he is generally revered by the Indian intelligensia.

Scan of Times of India blog on how Sathya Sai Baba could not materialize a jackfruit

Science vs. ‘Spiritual’ Superstition
The Deccan Herald reported:”Dr Narasimhaiah stole the limelight when he challenged the Sai Baba to create a pumpkin out of thin air instead of gold rings and watches. (Later a devotee asked Sai Baba to create a jackfruit  – which he did not do), as reported in the Times of India (click on thumbnail scan on the right here or go to source here).  Narasimhaiah had also invited the Baba twice to perform miracles in front of a committee. Dr Narasimhaiah, who had a doctorate in nuclear physics from an American university, was the Chairman of the Kannada Watchdog Committee, and a member of the Legislative Council. He headed the committee which probed banamathi (witchcraft) menace which had reached alarming proportions in North Karnataka. After a thorough investigation with experts from the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro-Sciences, he came to the conclusion that banamathi was a fear-complex perpetrated by vested interests on psychologically weak villagers.”

Black Magic/Witchcraft in India
Sathya Sai Baba has promoted the belief in black magic on various occasions, which most of the world will admit is very far from being helpful to India! Recently, the age-old superstitions still plague India life to a far greater degree than is publicized. A truly soul-chilling set of horrific reports from the Deccan Herald beyond any possible doubt that the superstition is causing the most horrific deaths around India. So much for the benign dispensation of the self-proclaimed God of Gods, Sathya Sai Baba, who defies science and promotes belief in black magicians etc. Let us hope that the true spirit of inquiry and critical thinking about fantastic claims will spread rapidly as India’s information technology spreads to all corners of the land and India thus becomes further integrated in the global community.

Religion and Sex Abuse

Posted by robertpriddy on July 23, 2007

hypocrisy

There’s something truly rotten about virtually all large, moralistic religious organizations where sex is concerned! A ‘tip of the vast iceberg’ of revelations in religious institutions is referenced below (see links).
Last year, a report commissioned by the (US Catholic) Church said more than 4,000 US Roman Catholic priests had faced sexual abuse allegations in the last 50 years in cases involving more than 10,000 children, mostly boys. In the last year at least 300 American priests have been removed amid allegations of child sex abuse.

It always takes decades for victims to summon the strength and means to confront their abusers. Throughout Europe and North America, these abuses are becoming widely know about and the victims receive sympathy and are slowly gaining ground through legal actions. Meanwhile, though India has been shown to be a country where 53% of its children allege sexual abuse (in a major and representative official study, virtually nothing has been done so far. Considering the known parlous state of the police, law and politics in India – especially when one considers how long it has taken to raise cases on any scale in Europe and the USA and with still far too meagre results – it will take more time to root out the deceit and sexual criminals in India to any adequate extent.  Not surprising that Sathya Sai Baba – with the patronage he enjoys, has not been brought to book for the over 30 public allegations against him – not yet. But the modernisation of India is progressing rapidly and global values and laws are developing fast which gives hope that the young professional and entrepreneurial classes in India will eventually be able manage the responsibilities of cleaning out their figurative and literal Augean stables where 40% of the truly poor still have to live out their lives. Fortunately, too, a fair number of swamis (who preached celibacy!) have been jailed in the past decade or so for sexual abuses (sometimes combined with murders).

Prime Ministers and Presidents etc. who have publicly worshipped Sai Baba and turn a blind eye and protected him from all allegations (think of the disgrace for them if he were brought before a court!). So far the authorities of the Supreme Court have managed to throw out a petition against Sai Baba. That there will be a reckoning and that the facts will eventually force themselves on these misguided prestige-minded politicians is most likely, however long it takes. This self-proclaimed God Incarnate will not be allowed to get away with his lies by those still young persons who report having suffered by his hands.

‘Spiritual’ Sex Abuse

Posted by robertpriddy on July 23, 2007

Sexual abuse has for ages been a feature of churchmen where the doctrine is sexually repressive. However, the huge extent to which this has been taking place in so many churches and sects is only now becoming properly known. After many years of struggle to be believed and to summon the money and expertise to take the guilty Catholic churches in the USA to court, results have begun to be seen. A record compensation of over $600 million in California has just been awarded. But – and this is a very large BUT – not one of the guilty has been brought to book by due legal process… so far. The same applies to sexual abuses as most credibly reported about Sathya Sai Baba, his Organisation having cleverly avoided legal accountability in the US, where he himself cannot be sued.

The protection given by religionists – including many bishops and heads of church communities – to both hetero- and homo-sexual abusers in the Catholic Church, the Anglican Church, The ISKCON (Hare Krishna) organization and in many other sects or ‘spiritual communities’ has been wall-to-wall. This utterly despicable behaviour has often been compounded by making the victims of sexual abuses suffer further personal abuse simply for alleging what was done to them. One US lady who has been raped by a priest broke down in tears on worldwide TV News (22/7/2007) while telling how she was not believed by her very own church community, which ostracised her. This ‘turning a blind eye’ has been very common, also in the Sathya Sai Organization. The hurt is as great as the original sin and the crime is with the scandal-mongers who attack alleging victims of sex abuse, who are either ignorant and opinionated or bitter-hearted individuals.

Some supporters of Sathya Sai Baba post continual vicious attacks against the many who have spoken out about being sexually abused by Sai Baba – and done so against great odds, with the politically powerful Sathya Sai mini-imperium and its bottomless coffers where murders have also occurred in Sai Baba’s own bedroom, quite possibly sex-related. That was never cleared up when the CBI investigation of it was totally quashed by Sai Baba supporters in the Indian Government.

Considering the huge scale of sexual abuse in India – as reported by the Indian Government approved UNICEF and Save the Children research project, the fact that very little progress has been made as regards bringing sexual abusers to book in India is a scandal too.  (See here)

Transparent Sai Lies

Posted by robertpriddy on July 22, 2007

BUGGY

What is deceitfulness and duplicity?

It is to denounce people in public with an angry face, beating the lectern while so doing, and later to say: “There is no trace of anger or hatred in Me and hence everyone loves Me” (Sanathana Sarathi September 2002, page 257f) Well, “everyone” is extremely far from the truth! Does he really imagine in his intense, protected, narcissism those who have been deeply abused by him love him? Or the 5 billion-plus people who have heard nothing about him? (Date: 10-11-02)Sathya Sai in word and deed
Teachings and consequences: Sai Baba preaches that there must be unity between thought, word, and deed… also that thoughts must be good and words true. He repeatedly fails to measure up to this standard himself, as anyone who dares think a genuinely independent thought can discover. Just take, for example, his 2003 Guru Purnima discourse, as edited down in Sanathana Sarathi (August 2003, p. 229):-
“People are heroes in speech but zeroes in action. Today the world is being duped by such people. Those who have true love in their heart will not indulge in tall talk. They demonstrate their love in action. Today people speak a lot without translating their speech into action. Such people verily are thieves. They demonstrate their love in action. Today people speak a lot without translating their speech into action. Such people verily are thieves.”

Let’s take a closer look
“People are heroes in speech but zeroes in action.”
Sai Baba makes himself the ultimate hero in speech after speech. His own personal actions are observable, walking about, smiling,”, putting his hand on things and people. He does nothing one could really call hard work, he rather goes around accepting adulation.
“Today the world is being duped by such people”
Like faking “materialisations” of vibuthi through sleight of hand, and of cheap trinkets (claimed to be valuable) and imported watches etc. etc. Like telling many untruths (documented in these and many other web pages) and making self-contradictory statements galore.
“Those who have true love in their heart will not indulge in tall talk.”
Is not his having boasted that no one anywhere is doing even one thousandth of the work he does (Xmas 2000) talk tall? If not it must be low talk! His repeated self-praise is spread on thick in virtually all he says and does. Moreover, there are many forms of love, and many forms of action… many of Sai Baba’s “loving actions’ have been described by many young men on the Internet and in TV interviews.
“Today people speak a lot without translating their speech into action.”
How many hundreds of millions of words has Sai Baba poured forth… shelves buckle under books containing only a fraction of his discourses, and even they are but excerpts… while his followers do over 99% of all the actions he claims to his sole credit.
“Such people verily are thieves”
Those who collect donations under false pretences, using sleight of hand, pretend to create and give away genuine diamonds (when donations will be given in return) and many other such deceits are the thieves.
Then there is the continual ‘Me, Me, Me’ in all Sai Baba’s discourses. Just look and see in any volume… yet he tells us he is selfless, needs no praise and that speaking of one’s good deeds makes them as if valueless. He certainly provides a mountain of self-praise and talk about “My” work, achievements etc.! That anyone cannot see this deceit would be incredible, but for the tremendous, subtle brain-washing that people undergo and engaged in themselves without realising it.

Sathya Sai Baba’s actions most evidently no longer fit in with all that he says about himself as regards his total purity, human perfection, freedom from all lust etc., if they ever did. His fine words may apply to Divine Consciousness, but evidently not to the body and mind of Sai Baba which it supposedly inhabits. Baba always says ‘I am not the body’, which can also be taken as a denial of any connection with what he as ‘his body’ does. This is the nux of the split personality hypothesis, applicable to such psychically powerful figures… a kind of Rasputin syndrome. At all events, Sathya Sai Baba is the name of his physical form, that human being embodiment, as much as any that of super-conscious, transcendental entity.

‘Miracle cures’ by Sai Baba?

Posted by robertpriddy on July 21, 2007

Sathya Sai Baba and ‘miracle cures’

The hagiographic literature about Sathya Sai Baba’s ‘miraculous’ cures is extensive. Due to the nature of his alleged ‘methods’, no scientific control study has so far been made of any of the claims of miraculous healing from him, either spontaneously or in answer to prayers. He is also reported as carrying out ‘exorcisms’ or driving out demons from ‘possessed’ persons and ‘psychic surgery’. None of this is to say that he, like thousands of others of reported ‘healers’, cannot have been somehow involved in people’s healing processes, most likely as a catalytic agent on whom one concentrates deeply with faith and hope and projects any positive results if or when improvements occur. (For a deeper analysis of these matters, see here)

On the other hand, hundreds of reports have come from persons who have sacrificed and prayed to Sathya Sai Baba constantly for themselves or for another, but all of whom have only got worse! Of course, the handy theory of past bad karma is trundled out to explain away the possibility of a cure in this or that persons’ instance. All evidence that Sathya Sai Baba does not heal, does not keep his word, or is not able to heal people of himself has to be refuted by the ‘true believer’, whose agenda is totally to block out all experience that may lead to another explanation or in any way be interpreted to reduce their hard-held belief that Sathya Sai Baba is a divine healer and God himself.

Even devotees who feel the need to keep up a front despite themselves not having been healed according to Sathya Sai Baba’s promise will convince themselves that they have been helped… and even lie about this, such as Mrs. Phyllis Krystal did about the headaches she claimed Sai Baba cured her of (after being asked point blank in public at the 1990 Sai Baba conference in Hamburg). However, she was still suffering from them for years afterwards, as Lucas Ralli (with whom she stayed when in London) informed me most definitively and to my great surprise. Sathya Sai Baba is one among many thousands who claims the power to heal – claims which of course have never been substiantiated by serious medical researchers under controlled conditions – a list which includes many known and highly controversial names: Mary Baker Eddy, Edgar Cayce, Chico Xavier, José (Zé) Arigó, Yokoshiaki Omura, Billy Graham, Oral Roberts, Kathryn Kuhlman, Peter Popoff, Benny Hinn and Peter Younggren, Stephen Turoff and so on and on…

Self-deception for Sai Baba

Posted by robertpriddy on July 20, 2007

P.Patil

Self-deceptions and suppressed consciences

Among the supposed millions of Sai devotees who have not left him they know – or are now in a position to know – many of the credible descriptions of his sexual abuses and deceptions on a grand scale. However, they  have long since learned to discount in advance and rationalize everything that is or could be said against him, on principle and regardless of the facts or the truth of the issues. Every fact must be twisted and turned to fit Sai Baba’s claims, until it becomes second nature and on can no longer think straight (if one has not succeeded in not thinking at all, as Sai Baba recommends most highly! Actually an impossibility, as he even self-defeatingly admitted to Hislop once!).

The reasons for the split-mindedness of devotees are many and various: powerful mental-emotional bonds that give a sense of security and one can hardly free oneself from, dependency attachments to other members, to prestige and privileges within the cult, to having a flat at the ashram, to cheap living in India, spiritual desperation, continual hope of cures and freedom from sufferings, vague ideas of ‘liberation’ from life itself, and so on… Their lives and psyches are just too involved at so many levels in their fixation on this very personable and powerful gurus for them to be able to listen to, investigate or evaluate facts.

Among those to whom this applies are many Indian politicians, now the new President of India Mrs. Pratibha Patil – the hopelessly outdated old lady and Sai devotee related to an unscrupulous husband who is under a cloud of suspicions, she is a compromise UPA rubber stamp candidate. L.K. Advani claims she illegally protected her brother in a murder case! So she would not mind supporting Sai Baba’s famous murder cover-up either then! Altogether, her reputation reminds rather strongly of that of Sathya Sai as regards cover-ups!

Patil has been buffeted by accusations that she protected her brother in a murder probe and shielded her husband in a suicide scandal. There have also been charges of nepotism and involvement in a slew of financial scams. The opposition also issued a booklet entitled: “Does This Tainted Person Deserve to Become the President of India?” (see www.iol.co.za)

The soon-to-be ex-President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam also visited and endorsed Sai Baba, as does the PM Manmohan Singh, the Home Minister and plenty of others. This is a tragedy for India, for the world will never accept India’s  self-proclaimed God Incarnate, Father who sent Jesus and all the rest of that megalomaniacal narcissism… even though India’s leaders insist he is genuine! The fact is, Indian politicians are worried about votes from the masses of deceived peasants and middle-class Indians who support Sathya Sai Baba in Andhra Pradesh (even up to 10% of the population by some liberal estimates!).

SATHYA SAI BABA NARCISSISM

Posted by robertpriddy on July 19, 2007

not appy

Åsa Samsioe, Swedish psychologist and former devotee of Sathya Sai Baba has written as follows:-

“Sathya Sai Baba’s confusing behaviour, I think, is just another symptom and a result of his mental disease… I think that he has an extremely narcissistic personality. Kernberg has written a lot about the narcissistic personality disorder. See also The World of the Narcissist   These persons have a psychological disturbance on the borderline level. They persons can also be very charming and charismatic. Often they are very talented and gifted. But inside they are quite empty and bored… They are also, on a deeper level, very lonely persons, who are unable to maintain deep, warm and meaningful relations to others…

The narcissist has a very exploitive relation towards others and he/she needs admiration all the time… The narcissists use people as mirrors for themselves… But at the same time, narcissists don’t bother about inconsistencies in their own behavior or character. They are standing aloof from all these trifles that bother most of us… They live in their self-made heaven, where they have put themselves on a pedestal, very far from us ordinary mortals. Often they seek challenges and are willing to take grand risks because they are so empty and bored inside…

The most conspicuous characteristic for the narcissistic personality is the paradoxical split between two images of the self. One image of the self is the grandiose self (Sai Baba is God himself- can it be more grandiose?). The other image of the self, which is on a deeper level, is filled of shame, hate and feelings of worthlessness…

The tragedy for Sai Baba and his devotees is that his grandiose self gets continuous nourishment… actually it has been fed with attention and admiration all his life… Of course he has nothing to be afraid of… The other image of his self will never get a chance to show itself… And he will never get the chance to get in contact with his own suffering, which on the long view, could have healed him from his mental disorder…

And if there is at threat to him from this other image of the self to break through, ( threat – because this would be very painful for him) he will have to deny its existence or project it on other persons… But there are situations when Sai Baba obviously has been deprived of narcissistic supply or frustrated in some way…

Then he shows intense rage as you can read about in the book ANYATHÃ SARANAM NASTHI: “Other than You refuge there is none”, by Smt. Vijaya Kumari. She writes in the pages 68-69 about SB: “The slightest oversight with regard to arrangements for his meals would provoke Him into a fit of anger. Sometimes He would fling His plate at the wall opposite Him with such force that it would rebound and come back to Him”.

Getting older is very difficult for these personalities, when they realize that they are not as attractive or healthy as they used to be… In Sanathana Sarathi from October 2002, you can read: “I don´t know any weakness. Usually old people have wrinkles on their faces and they suffer from deafness and cataract. I do not have any signs of old age. (loud applause) there is not a single wrinkle on my face. My eyes shine like stars and my voice is like a loudspeaker… ”

As a matter of fact a friend of mine, who recently visited the ashram, told me that Sathya Sai was almost bald on the back of his skull. And even if his face hasn´t any wrinkles, everyone can see that he has got a “turkey throat” So that is something that can threat Sai Baba’s grandiose image of himself…
I think that Sathya Sai Baba is a VERY SICK person… I was happy when I found him… but I am much happier now, when I have rescued myself from him and the clutches of his cult!”

Sai Baba’s demonstrated ignorance

Posted by robertpriddy on July 18, 2007

Most people tend to assume that an omniscient God Incarnate would be, among many other things, an immensely towering knowledgeable mind. In most of his teachings, however, Sathya Sai Baba does not measure up to even a very modest intellectual standard. To make himself seem educated (which he is not), it suits his purpose to use the names of scientists like Isaac Newton, Albert Einstein, when he is not denigrating scientists’ and scholars as “educated fools”. He even mentions physicists like Heisenberg (who he claims sought to unify science and spirituality!), and Dirac (who he says found the truth ‘Love ever, hurt never’!!). He speaks of ‘”the great scientist Darwin” but only to say he was influenced by his teacher! Actually he denies Darwinian natural selection because he teaches creationism – and adds tha it was he himself who created everything!

So Sai Baba demonstrates throughout that he has less than an elementary understanding of what they stood for. His references to historical and other objective facts, including other religions (especially Christianity) – are invariably very patchy, often garbled and inaccurate and sometimes hair-raisingly absurd. His quotations from famous figures like Churchill are inaccurate and sometimes laughably distorted! It is clear he only knows of these people at a considerable remove from the sources, such as via his former devotees Prof. Kasturi and Dr. Bhagavantam. Instead, the lion’s share of his teaching is a simplified version of well-worn religious moralism and speculative ideas about reality and God that have been put by many others before him, mostly in much more nuanced and clear ways than he manages.

The modern world’s hard-won and vast intellectual and scientific achievements are often challenged by Sai Baba in quite scathing terms and those who have sacrificed much to make great academic and scientific efforts are supposed to feel despondent to hear Sathya Sai Baba explaining how futile it all was. Actually, though, it is Sathya Sai Baba who signally fails the test of ‘the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth’.

Sathya Sai’s good works

Posted by robertpriddy on July 17, 2007

Sai drumming

Drumming up support

Good works there are, and all these are always financed and carried out by others than Sathya Sai Baba himself.  It is indisputable that Sathya Sai Baba has drummed up some enthusiasm about – and sometimes partly overseen – numerous social projects in India that are of considerable value to whoever can benefit from them, and he has apparently motivated many people here and there to try to do good works in their own countries. This kind of inspiration and results are not as unique and world-beating as he and his staff make it out to be. We live in a world where good works have every been done selflessly and are still to the fore in millions of people’s daily lives, but this is not a theme Sai Baba takes up, for it is really only his own works that he praises. The big problem about the Sathya Sai Baba service work remains, that it is done in the name of a person who has told many outright lies (see just a few examples  here, here, here, here), has behaved fraudulently with sleight-of-hand on many occasions, and is widely and credibly accused of many sexual abuses and of being an accomplice to a murder cover-up.

The Cultish Sai movement
Those who are members in his Organization must believe that Sathya Sai Baba alone is God Incarnate, here and now, and openly to criticise Sai Baba is taboo and leads directly to expulsion from the organisation. This is the first mark of any cult… the utter supremacy of the leader! The Sai Baba movement as a whole is increasing its cult status by ignoring massive evidence and protecting an accused sexual abuser and suspected accomplice to murder from any form of investigation or indictment. This complicity is often conscious – but also often unwitting – being based on the out-of-hand rejection of any criticism of any kind against the guru figure in advance of considering the evidence, all in accordance with his teaching about himself.

As is well known, Sathya Sai claims to be behind all things that happens, so – by the same preposterous claim – he is necessarily to blame for everything that is wrong. The responsibility can’t be shoved onto us, as he nevertheless does, with his Janus faced teaching, when he turns around and says all that is bad is due only to human actions, not his! None of these assertions are ever properly explained by him. Instead, he continually makes use of these claims in subtly devious ways to control others. The un-indoctrinated and the de-programmed devotees can observe how it all functions to increase his status in the eyes of believers and add to his fortune, fame and name at their expense. One would expect God Almighty to be a lot more convincing than this!
