The lengths which the entrapment into belief in Sathya Sai Baba’s countless empty claims, false predictions and many other deceptions went is seen in the hysteria of those who are now claiming that he has returned to give discourses and darshan through one of one of his students residing at Muddenahalli (a Sai temple and college located roughly between Puttaparthi and Bangalore). When Sai Baba died under ignominious and unpredicted circumstances, some devotees swore they knew he would reincarnate within a day, others in a week or so, others in some months time. All who remain in the cult believe he will reincarnate as Prema Sai and grow up in anonymity, as he had said, until he matured. As expected by the savvy, Prema Sais would begin to appear here and there (some few had already claimed to be him) and his nephew Ratnakara – who managed to usurp the entire wealth and property of Sai Baba – himself soon hinted that he was Prema Sai, but dropped the claim quickly, being accused of murder threats, violent acts and numerous other ‘non-prema’ activities!  Now, those who can’t wait are reportedly flocking from Puttaparthi and elsewhere to see and hear a former Sai Baba MBA student  (a 23-year old gold medallist, and it is now been testified how his ‘form boys’ qualified for that award). 

To persons who have not been involved with Sai Baba and his followers – or know many of the countless wiles and subtle mind manipulations on which most Indian guru traditions depend – the extent of their manipulations of people’s minds and lives and the heights of credulity achieved are hard to credit. Nonetheless, money is now flowing into the coffers of those behind this, who include Dr. Narasimha Murthy, former warden of Brindavan College and accused purveyor of student boys to Sai Baba’s bedrooms.

More Sathya Sai Organization propaganda on village regeneration

As it was reported the Grama Seva as a project started in 2000, the most unfavourable year for Sathya Sai Baba’s reputation (‘The Findings’ by David Bailey and the failure of the so-called UNESCO conference due to their having withdrawn on account of the sex abuse allegations through direct reference to several of the accusers). Volunteers distributed hundreds of thousands packs with rice, sweets and clothes. Of course the villagers were happy. But what is the deeper meaning of this service? What is a perspective for the villagers? 300 grams of rice and a dhoti once a year will not change radically their situation. However, the latest reported activities are from 2006! 

Many years ago it was claimed by Indulal Shah – backed up by the Sathya Sai Organization – that a project to regenerate 6000 Indian villages was underway. V.K. Narasimhan (one of the very few frequently outspoken persons very close to Sai Baba and in the know) informed me privately that the project petered out quickly after a large number of ‘delegates’ had been to the ashram for a few days of free lunches – it was in fact what Narasimhan called “a washout”, which ceased within the first year of its inception in 1985. This village project is still trumpeted as a divine success in Sai Organisation literature, information brochures and on web pages.  Details of this project can be read here

Shirdi Sai much more popular than Sathya Sai – statistics

An interesting statistic was just sent to me. By comparing the search trends in the biggest Russian search engine (Yandex) for the searches for various spiritual icons or gurus, we see the relative unimportance of Sathya Sai Baba in Russia – far from what one would expect with a person who is claimed to have anything from 30 million to 600 million followers worldwide!

The data for a comparison between those searching for Shirdi Sai Baba and, alternatively, Sathya Sai Baba clearly show their divergence in popularity (this was on Google). Shirdi Sai is far more popular that Sathya Sai. (The increase in searches for Sathya Sai Baba earlier this year simply indicates interest in the death).

More evidence piles up on male sex abuse by Sathya Sai Baba and teachers etc.

My anonymous source, an ex-student who has written informing me of diverse events and names (some suppressed) at the Sathya Sai Colleges and ashrams, sent the following almost one year ago. It was yet another confirmation of the masses of independent testimony we who are involved in the exposé of Sathya Sai Baba have received in one way or another and have checked for authenticity as far as possible.

Thankfully, the Sai saga is now on it’s last legs with a wheel chair bound SB literally not having a leg to stand on. It is bad to speak ill of those who are suffering but in the case of SB, he is paying for his sins by suffering daily humiliation in a wheel chair with thousands as witness. Too often, sinners just leave the world abruptly enjoying comforts till the last second. SB is suffering right here on earth as he should. Of course, delusional SB devotees will argue that SB has taken up the suffering of some devotee and is going through physical pain on purpose to teach the world a lesson. In Hindu philosophy, they say that a devotee’s intense devotion can make up for the deficiencies in a Guru. That is 100% true for SB. I could write a book about the goings on in SB’s educational institutions but the following is a summarized recollection of my stay in SB’s educational institution.

Many of the students know the ugly truth. I was a student for only for several years but many have studied there for 15-18 years, starting from kindergarten. It is impossible for them to not know. By the time they complete their education, almost 100% of the students would have heard tales of SB’s abuse and fakery. There are some who continue to believe in SB deluding themselves that it is all Swami’s leela to test their devotion and that they must never abandon their faith. One thing the Sai cult is very good at is in brainwashing. It is all a big scam. Students in the institution fake devotion so that they can get free education and benefits. 3/4th of the students come from the lower middle class and they do whatever it takes to gain what they want. I was at Whitefield when the murders happened. Even then, I continued to have a positive outlook towards SB. I am not from a devotee family so I had never believed him to be God but I used to respect him for the social work activities he was doing.
Around the same time, a good friend and class mate of mine had become a “form boy”. Initially things seemed to be going well. He got a gold colored citizen watch, ring, etc from SB. But his behavior changed and he seemed unhappy. It was puzzling for the rest of us, because being close to SB is what everyone aspires for. And then he revealed that SB had abused him. He had grown up in a devotee family and this betrayal was even more painful for him. It was a shocking discovery for me.

There was another boy in the hostel who was very devoted and most sincere in doing seva activities. He was called for an interview and while he lifted up his head after doing paadanamaskar, SB shoved his organ into this boy’s mouth. When the boy went and complained about this to the warden, the warden scolded him saying “what nonsense are you talking”. So, the warden, the lecturers (many of them ex students themselves) everybody knew but pretended devotion! It is a disgusting, repulsive set up.

As for his miracles, I have never seen him do any materialization in a convincing fashion. Transferring objects – whether it’s a vibhuti ball, a ring or a chain from the left hand to the right and faking a materialization is his usual modus operandi. However, as you have said, he may be capable of hypnosis, transportation of objects through will power, etc. I suspect in his early days he may have practiced sorcery or some such dark art to influence and win over devotees. I myself never attended an interview but sat close to his seat in Trayee Brindavan many times when he held an audience with the students in the evenings. He distracts people’s attention when he switches objects from left hand to the right. Other students who have been to the interview room have reported seeing Vibhuti pellets, rings etc under the cushion. The so called oil materialization is done by crushing a vitamin oil capsule. With a couple of boys he did the genital switch trick, which lends credence to the rumor that he is a hermaphrodite.

“Form boys” don’t wear underwear when they go out for darshan. SB chides them if they sign off their letters to him as “your son”. He tells them to address themselves as “your wife” instead. It is common among “form boys” to joke among themselves whether they had a “one way” or “two way” when one of them returns from the interview room. Besides rings, watches and goodies like imported candy and such, SB gives the “form boys” money. The annual Kodai Kanal summer trips are the worst in terms of amount of abuse as there is no college to attend and the boys stay with him in the same building all day all night. There was this boy who was most sincere in his devotion who was picked by SB at the last minute to travel to Kodai Kanal for summer vacation. Prior to that, he had never been a “form boy” and SB had picked him unexpectedly. A while later, it was reported that SB was very pissed off with him and nearly kicked him out! The real reason is that the boy refused SB’s advances and therefore angered him greatly. There were several other such boys who discovered his true colors on the Kodai Kanal trips but tricked themselves into believing that SB is testing them through a leela!

The atmosphere in the hostel is terrible. From outside the building looks nice with it’s wedding cake design but life on the inside is anything but nice. The education in the college is free but there is a fee for boarding and food in the hostel. Students sleep on the floor, 14-16 in each room. The food is nice during the summer course when there are VIP guests and such but during regular times, it used to taste terrible and lack in nutrition. A boy once collapsed while giving a speech in the college. The doctor who looked at him advised him to eat lot of green leaves such as spinach to get iron. But in the hostel they never served green leaves! They used to serve substandard rice and daal which was again supplied at a subsidized cost by some devotee or the other. When I was new, I had an Oliver Twist movement where I asked for an extra portion and was refused! And if anyone showed up late for breakfast, lunch or dinner, the lecturer in charge of the dining room would close the door on them! Imagine denying food to growing boys in the name of discipline!

Most of the lecturers are ex students. They live in the hostel as well. They are a bunch of frustrated individuals who desire to leave the movement but are trapped without an exit once they are in. They take out their frustrations on the students, behaving very rudely towards them. One lecturer had a very short fuse. When students don’t wake up early in the day for morning prayer, he is known to kick them and say “wake up you bastard”. He once threw a boy’s guitar out of the window from the third floor in anger.

There was another lecturer who once lost his temper and slapped a boy repeatedly (like 25-30 times) in front of the whole class! There were several lecturers known to be abusers and boys in the know used to keep a safe distance from them. One time a boy was attacked by one such lecturer so he went and complained to the warden. The warden told him there is nothing he can do about it! The irony is that through all this suffering, many pray to SB to help them, thinking that he is some kind of savior!

Looking back, I am glad I escaped from that den of lies and deception without much damage. It also helped that I discovered the truth towards the end of my stay there. The last few months I avoided Darshan as much as possible, minimizing any chances of me ending up as another victim!

Over the years as I have read your blog and various other expose blogs, I have understood how SB’s fraud occurs on a global scale. Thanks for making so much information available to the world.

Murders in The Abode of Supreme Peace temple – 1

In case anyone might forget these horrendous murders and their cover-up by the Government of India, the graphic description needs to be circulated once again. This murder case will haunt Indian authorities for decades to come, and very rightly so. It is not even one of the most serious miscarriages of justice, because no form of justice was allowed for any of the bereaved or those affected by Sathya Sai Baba’s staff purges of ashramites whose lives had been dedicated to service under the figurehead of Sathya Sai Baba.

The Prashanthi Nilayam temple (mandir) is the massive building where the 3 domes are covered with gold – the residence of Satya Sai Baba with a plinth area of 35’x90’ with a first floor of the same dimension. The ground floor from left up to 75 feet length is used as a prayer hall and the end rooms on the right is used by Sai Baba for personal interviews with a staircase leading to the first floor which is occupied by the godman, his personal aide Radha Krishna and other body guards including the trust member Col.Joga Rao. Tehelka Com November 29,2000 article states that the Sathya Sai Baba is ringed with two concentric circles of Israel-trained and armed security personnel, close-circuit television, wireless communications with Uzis slung on their shoulders.

When actual murders were carried out and Sai Baba got the case closed, this alone proves he is not one practising Sathya Dharma, Shanthi and Prema. Note  the entrance to the interview room on the ground floor where selected devotees wait. 

We see photos of the interview room where the four Sai Baba aides are alleged to have been stabbed by the four alleged assailants out of which two died. The blue door leads to the staircase leading to the first floor. Strangely the wooden throne used by Sai Baba while giving interviews is missing in the room. There is a pool of blood in the centre of the room on the left side which is alleged to have gushed out of the stab injuries of the four aides.

There is a stick in the middle of the blood pool and a metal rod at the end of the blood pool facing the blue door. How these happened to be in the room is not investigated.

According to the FIR it is alleged that the four assailants entered into Baba’s ground floor room on pretext of handing over a telegram to Baba and the four aides objected them and that said assailants attacked and stabbed them with daggers indiscriminately. It doesn’t look like 8 persons (four aides and four assailants) were fighting and being stabbed When someone attacks, one does not stand still but try to evade the attack and escape. So the stabbing would not have happened at a particular place. If four had fallen down after being stabbed indiscriminately there would have been their foot marks and body marks in the blood pool. The splashed blood would have been in different places in the room. There are rope pieces strewn around the spattered blood. The police have not investigated who were tied with ropes – the alleged aides or the alleged assailants.

If someone had tied the alleged aides with ropes, the question of the assailants stabbing them does not arise. And if the alleged assailants were tied with ropes murdered and shifted to Sai Baba’s and Radhakrishna’s bed rooms, the question of the jumping on police to kill them do not arise. Therefore the police drama of firing 31 rounds of bullets was a farce. These rope pieces prove that the aides were not tied by the alleged assailants nor were they stabbed by them.

Moreover the feet of the 4 assailants would have been drenched with blood if they had stabbed the aides went to upstairs to do away Swamy as stated in the FIR there would have been foot prints of blood leading to the stairs but the floor after the blood pool leading to the door is clean without a speck of blood.

Bottom right is the staircase with doors open (the photograph seems to have been made up out of two exposures). While there are no footprints in blood on the floor after the door, surprisingly blood is seen sprinkled on the steps and 3 streamlets of blood flowing up to the floor on the doorsteps. This is unnatural and the police have not explained how the blood suddenly appeared on the doorsteps and the stairs. They also do not look like the footprints of blood of the four assailants. So if it was true that the four assailants had indiscriminately stabbed the four aides, their foot prints in blood would have been seen surely on the floor and the stairs or where ever they walked. Also when the door to the stairs is seen closed, it is strange that the blood has splashed on the stairs.

Vishal Arora Indian journalist exposes Sathya Sai Baba

‘The Caravan’ Magazine on Sathya Sai Baba by independent investigative journalist Vishal Arora states:-

As Arora found out, there is a most powerful and widely extended cadre of Sathya Sai Baba worshippers in power in India, most of whom having been outspoken as worshipping devotees for many years. Prestige, favours, money and, above all, the fear or ridicule for having been so thoroughly taken in by a widely accused pedophile and accomplice to murder of his own devotees is a powerful factor in their continued fear (and blocking) of investigations of any kind into Sathya Sai Baba. Vishal Arora writes:- There is no lack of powerful, high-profile people cutting across political parties and spheres, professing their faith in Sai Baba. Justice PN Bhagwati, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of India in 1985 and 1986, calls him “divinity incarnate” in Baba is God in Human Form: Experiences of Divinity of Bhagwan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. In the same book, Shivraj Vishwanath Patil, currently Governor of Punjab and former Union Home Minister, says, “He is the knowledge; He is the wisdom personified.” Shankarrao Bhavrao Chavan, former Chief Minister of Maharashtra for two terms and former Union Home and Finance Minister, says he has “no hesitation in saying, whatever position and status I have is purely because of Bhagwan’s blessings.” And further:-

Evidence and documentary proof of failed petition to the Supreme Court of India. The attempt to prosecute Sathya Sai Baba a decade ago was rejected in a most corrupt manner by a Sai Baba worshipping judiciary:-

In what has been described by all observers as a “shocking” decision, the Supreme court refused to even hear the petition yesterday.
The Judge who heard it last week in the preliminary , Justice Agarwal (who said “these things have been going on for decades” ) was scheduled to be hearing the petition. In the last minute, he was suddenly transferred to another case by the Chief justice Anand, a Sai Baba folower, who appointed his right hand man, a corrupt judge called Lahoti to hear the case.

As soon as Kamini Jaiswal and Prashant Kumar started opening the case, this judge started posing all sorts of absolutely stupid questions, with NO LEGAL BASIS.

Here is what happened as recounted to me by Prashant Kumar.

Kamini Jaiswal : May I proceed with the case introduction ?

Judge Lahoti : Wait….there is a problem with the affidavit of the petitioner, I want it clarified.

Kamini : There is absolutely nothing wrong, the affidavit is perfectly fine.

Judge Lahoti : Why is the affidavit dated April 5th 2001 and you are coming up only now with the petition , in May ?

Kamini : The affidavit was signed by the petitioner and had to be mailed, along with his petition. The petition had to be mailed to him first so that he could sign it.

Judge Lahoti : How can that take more than a month ? This is an old affidavit , then.

Kamini : If you notice the address of the petitioner, he is in the United States, and mail takes a few days to reach there and then back here to India. We filed the petition more than 10 days back, citing reasons for urgent mention, and according to the court order, the case was posted for today. That is why we are here now.

Judge Lahoti : Well…it seems that the petitioner is in USA,it is my mistake. Anyway there are other reasons I want to clarify this petition. Why are you approaching the Supreme court ? We don’t want to hear this petition, please go to the High court in Andhra Pradesh.

Kamini : The reasons are clearly mentioned in the petition, and we are filing the petition under Article 32 of the constitution, which gives us the right to come to the Supreme court.

Judge Patnaik (second judge) : Why was the petition not filed in the Andhra High court under Article 226 ? Go to the High court.

Kamini : That is what I am coming to, Article 32 and Article 226, both grant the same rights in the Supreme court and High court respectively…..either option can be pursued. If I may proceed with my argument, I will explain why…

Judge Lahoti : No… go to the High court…

Kamini : Can I at least have a hearing ?

Judge Patnaik : ok.. go on…

(Kamini begins her arguments, and starts detailing all the media reports about Sai Baba, the statements of sexual molestation, etc….. when she reaches the point about UNESCO…. she is interrupted)

Judge Patnaik : This court doesn’t want to hear this petition, go to the Andhra High court.

Kamini : But I have not even come to the point explaining why we choose to file under Article 32 in Supreme court…

Judge Lahoti : You can do the same under Article 226 in Andhra Court…

Kamini : But that exactly is what I was going to say, about why I cannot do that there, can I please continue ?

Judge Patnaik : Why are you here, why don’t you go to Andhra ?

Kamini : It is clearly stated in the petition, and I am coming to that…

Judge Lahoti : what grounds ?

Kamini : The respondent Sai Baba has a 60,000 million rupee empire in Andhra Pradesh, with total control over the entire state government… how can we go there ? There are also lot of other political influences …

Judge Patnaik : No, we are not going to allow this petition here, go to the Andhra High court..

Kamini : But if this was the issue, we could have been informed 10 days back, we were asked to come today…

Judge Patnaik : We are going to dismiss the petition.

Kamini : On what grounds ?

Judge Lahoti : We do not have to cite any reason for dismissing it..

Kamini : Can you at least give a ruling “with liberty to go to Andhra High court” ?

Judge Patnaik : No I am not going to do that.

Kamini : But that is what you were saying all along , if you want us to go to the Andhra High court, and if that is the reason you are not hearing this petition, can you please put it in writing ? We can then take it to the Andhra High court .

Judge Patnaik : No , I just asked you why you are here, and said that you should be in the Andhra High court. I am not going to include that in the ruling.

Kamini : Can we at least withdraw the petition from this court, and approach the Andhra High court ?

Judge Lahoti : you could approach the Andhra High court if you want to, but we are going to call this petition “dismissed”, and not allow you to withdraw it.

Judge Patnaik : Petition dismissed, no reasons are given by this court. That is the ruling .

As we can clearly see, this “hearing” was rigged and blatantly violating all legal norms.

The whole proceeding took less than 10 min… with the judges constantly interrupting Kamini Jaiswal…. and repeatedly raising irrelevant questions, without giving her a chance to explain the legal reasons why she was representing in the supreme court.

That judge Lahoti is notorious as a “Chief justice Anand’s hit man”, who had been cleverly appointed at the last minute, replacing Justice Barucha and Justice Agarwal, who heard it last week.

It is very very obvious why they were so eager to “dismiss” the petition, without a complete hearing, and also not give a ruling that we could approach Andhra High court, although they stated it orally.

They want us to go to Andhra High court, and everybody knows what will happen there. There will not even be a formality of a hearing in Andhra.

The scan that proves definitively that Sathya Sai Baba was protected by the Supreme Court of India and could not be tried, let alone convicted.

Worse yet, shortly after their rejection of the Petition lodged by Hari Sampath, the Supreme Court of India deleted all public documentation of it having been made. The British Ambassador to India attempted to get confirmation of the rejection by the Supreme Court but there was no record of it! Nonetheless, a copy of the formal rejection paper was preserved and a scan of that attested document is here:-

At that time, the Governor of Andhra Pradesh had once been none less than the private driver for Sathya Sai Baba ! One can imagine the chances of a petition to the AP High Court. In a mail from Basava Premanand to the Danish film director Øjvind Kyrø, who produced the Danish National TV Documentary ‘Seduced’ (by Sai Baba), he stated:

Now that the government is changed and the present Chief Minister and Governor of Andhra Pradesh are fans of mine. We have put in a petition to get it opened and the Governor has agreed to meet me.”

However, despite sustained efforts to re-open the case, Premanand’s petition was totally disregarded right up until his death last year. This shows the pull that Sathya Sai Baba and his minions had in the corridors of power in India, especially the top of the Indian Government (which they still have).

Explaining the influence of Sathya Sai Baba

Sometimes I have been asked, ‘How is it that many people do not immediately see that Sathya Sai Baba is a fraud? Many point out that his claim to materialize objects is evidently bogus, one should know in advance. This is far from evident to those who gets at all involved with him, not least because of the massive number of accounts circulating where it is stated as fact. No doubt the miracles claims puts off many persons who are of a sceptical turn of mind and who are not open to ‘spirituality’ or religion. Yet, that leaves a vast number of people who are not initially negative towards him, and he is not bigoted in that he gives  at least lip service to other mainsteam religions, though his doctrine clashes with all of them regarding his claims of being the Divine Godhead Incarnate. (To claim this is illegal in India, but no one has been able to bring him to book since he is protected by the highest in the land). His reputation was – until the millennium at least – based almost entirely on a vast amount of literature, films, videos and web sites which abound with stories about his divine nature, superhuman powers and good activities, which are endorsed by a very considerable number of influential and important people, especially in India. In his present wheelchair-bound decrepitude, and after the infamous 1993 murders in his bedroom and the flood of testimonies against him for sexual abuses, Sathya Sai Baba is no longer generating wide support of the kind he previously managed and for a number of other good reasons. Not least the vile cultist attacks on victims of his alleged sex abuses and on all critics of Sathya Sai Baba, however well-documented or well-founded.

Those who cling to their faith in him despite the many and highly revealing exposures of his untruthfulness, deceptions and frauds – especially since the sexual abuse testimonies began to come forth since 1999 – take comfort from being in the company of half-a-dozen Indian Prime Ministers, 4 Indian Presidents, the Former Head of the Supreme Court of India, Mr, Bhagwani, a former head of the Electoral Commission of India, heads of half a dozen nations, Ministers, State Governors, Supreme and High Court judges and many other well-known figures. Also of course hundreds of Indian Ph.Ds (even though many such from India are of doubtful validity according to Western University authorities) and perhaps dozens of foreign educators, though again, none of much consequence. Yet this phenomenon of support among educated persons for a demonstrably ignorant villager is despite all far from simple. It requires great application and perspicacity for anyone who has not been able to learn the hidden truth of many matters from inside sources to penetrate the mythology and layers of deception. After 18 years involvement myself, mostly as the leader of the Sathya Sai Organization of Norway, I have spent the best part of a decade since resigning in investigating thoroughly and critically, widely publishing my discoveries.

The majority who are open to Sathya Sai Baba – i.e. those who are not party to the deception to a lesser or greater extent – are quite simply roundly deceived and deluded by a the organized scam that is upheld by Sai officials, prominent devotees and their families who have invested their lives and reputation in Sai Baba, plus the very large number of local people whose livelihoods depend on it. The effectiveness of the propaganda is shown in that even UNESCO once agreed to be fully represented at an education conference in Sathya Sai Baba’s ashram – but since previously well hidden facts had become known by then, they withdrew. I had already left his organization. Since then no UN body has been willing to have any public connection with Sathya Sai Baba, despite huge efforts by Sai officials working through the Indian government and with the support of the former UN Under-Secretary General for Communications and Public Information, Sashi Tharoor. Further, Prince Charles tried for years to visit him (Sarah Ferguson actually did so), and Sai Baba reportedly counts many covert supporters such as Al Gore, Gorbachev, politicians in many countries, plus royal personages from Asian and European countries. The list of celebrities is not inconsiderable – Goldie Hawn, Steven Segal, Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar etc.

He is still followed by most of his chief devotees, despite UNESCO’s well-grounded withdrawal an educational conference at his ashram on grounds of suspected sexual misdemeanour and from any further association with him, and despite the U.S. State Department’s warning about him under suspicion of sexual molestations. That all these people are deceived is because of the cult of near-impenetrability – most of every day of Sathya Sai Baba’s private life is kept strictly hidden from all but his trusted lieutenants. More damning police evidence is about to emerge from a most reputable former inside source which will go on the record for always. Even that will doubtless not cause more than a few of the sleepers to awaken.

Some largely ill-informed commentators call Sathya Sai Baba “a third rate trickster”. Some of the time his sleight of hand is very transparent too. Yet one wonders therefore how much more a 1st rate trickster than him – Indian’s biggest earner of foreign currency through donations for decades  – or how many followers – hardly in the tens of millions! (One can safely discount the claims of 60 million, 600 million and everything in between which are made, even officially. Sai Baba is very skeptical about his so-called followers, saying there are very few who are genuine anyhow. My own observations through 18 years bear this out in all ways).

Of course, Sathya Sai Baba is not entirely fraudulent in everything – his teachings are sometime good in part at least – though usually too simplistic or fanciful – and his charisma and all the stories it has generated have inspired others to do good works and finance his projects. Otherwise I could never have written a positive book about him (though I was then in the dark about his true nature) The extensive published exposure of Sathya Baba’s deceptions and bogus claims that exceed any made by any known historical figure, made by scores of former followers, journalists and independent authors is on the record for the future. It has already had a great effect – not least on him personally and on his minions. Very few people can now get near to Sai Baba to discover how fraudulent he is – almost everything about him has to be taken on faith, and even very largely to those who have been with him for years, so secretive and protected from scrutiny he is.  My very close friend V.K. Narasimhan, who among Indian editors had single-handedly stood up to Indira Gandhi’s Emergency, was with him daily for 20 years and still considered that he was one of the few people who was doing anything for the poor in AP. He was sceptical of some of the claims… especially omniscience and omnipotence, but far from all of them, and he had been a hard-headed, tested and tried world travelling journalist and economist, though also soft-hearted. Due to what I eventually learned from him, I have until now been probably the most wide-ranging critic and exposer of Sathya Sai Baba. Hundreds of thousands of visitors have read my exposures in books, web pages and other media.

Moreno and sexual abuse, denial and subterfuge

Gerald Joe Moreno began his full-time activities in defending the Sathya Sai Organization and Sathya Sai Baba around autumn 2004, starting by trying to sabotage the International Sai Petition – which now has over 1,300 signatories including a large number of former followers and office-bearers). This he could do only during it’s first year or so before it was protected against such spamming by being moved to its present location and subjected to many cross-checks. As usual, Moreno made massive assumptions – mostly entirely false – about the nature of the petition, calling it bogus. His case rested mainly on his having been able to make some false submissions to the petition before it was protected properly from such spamming (in its new location) – including a bogus entry he boasts about having made under the bogus name Joe Apodaco or the like. [Note that Joe Moreno gave no documentary proof he made that entry. However, it was  removed just in case.] That Moreno tried so hard to vandalise the petition with intent to sabotage it shows he is a trickster and flouts all decent civil conventions. He has been unable to continue this since i took over the petition management.

NOTE I have removed a short paragraph from here as it was incorrect (I should not wish for Moreno to be falsely accused of even a minor matter). Joe Moreno was actually abused by Sathya Sai Baba, though he denies that the lowering of his pants and massaging with oil on his “lower stomach” was what the law (even in India) defines it as – sexual molestation when not performed with consent by a doctor of medicine. Joe Moreno attacks Alaya Rahm for trying to sue Sathya Sai Baba and/or his Organization for money – actually, that is, for compensation and damages. Perfectly legitimate, as the above cutting shows. It has been done by countless religious sex abuse victims with much success, and very rightly so. If Sathya Sai Baba were to be sued successfully in India (that is, if his governmental and Supreme Court protection were to cease) he would owe countless millions of US dollars, more even than the ISCKON Hare Krishna people were (bankrupted in the USA).

For years Moreno actually believed that Sathya Sai Baba was a sexual abuser (see scan below)! Later Moreno went into total denial of this at the first opportunity (the Alaya Rahm lawsuit’s withdrawal), for it had become a totally untenable and embarrassing position for Moreno when compared with his praise of Sathya Sai Baba and huge struggle to defend him against most of the allegations. This despite massive documentation, including numerous proofs of deception from Sai Baba’s own published words.

Sathya Sai Organisation defended by proxy

Joe Moreno makes numerous false claims about ex-follower critics of Sathya Sai Baba under the wordpress.com title ‘Sathya Sai Baba – Love, Light and Spirituality’, which ‘spiritual’ blog he runs primarily so as to continue his libels and harassments of most critical former followers of Sathya Sai Baba. At last, after 4 years or so, I am currently replying to some of his constant attacks and baseless accusations. Here comes one out of a long series of similar examples of false, contrived pseudo-reasoning on the blog “By Proxy Defenders of Alleged….” etc.)

Plenty of parents have come forward against Sathya Sai Baba, and Moreno knows it so well! To name but a few: Sharon Purcell, Diana Scott, the parents of Alaya Rahm, Britt-Marie Anden (head of now disbanded Gothenberg Sai School, her two sons molested)…
Moreno goes to enormous lengths to “protect” and “defend” the Sathya Sai Organization in countless web postings while – in defending it himself in the above, he denies this!   The Sathya Sai Organization is an authoritarian cult – I know, because I eventually left it in relief after ensuring that I had investigated thoroughly and learned many true and wholly indefensible facts about its cover up Sai Baba’s sexual molestation (as even admitted by leaders who remain faithful to him!)  and the cold-blooded murders in which he was inextricable involved. All documentary link information is given at bottom of this page.

As to grievances, Moreno denies that there have been any legal grievances filed in India. Even that is false (see points 1) 2) and 3) below. By specifying India – where grievances of this kind could not get a hearing – he would distract all attention from the countless documented grievances, including  in letters sent to leaders of the Sathya Sai Organization (see links at foot of page). He can never throw journalists or researchers off the scent in this simplistic way. It is the same tactic many Sai organization leaders have used!

1) He knows that Hari Sampath  petitioned the Supreme Court of India, and that it was thrown out on a trumped-up legal technicality by judges who are Sathya Sai followers (see below).

2) Moreno also knows full well that there have been many grievances with a legal basis against Sathya Sai Baba, as is fully documented in the Indian Skeptic through the years, not least court petitions by Basava Premanand (i.e. the case where the judges claimed Sai Baba materialises gold from thin air and hence is not subject to the law under the Gold Control Act)

3) It is convenient for Moreno to ignore that the ex-follower from Germany, Jens Sethi, filed an affidavit against Sai Baba with the Hamburg police, as he knows too. Or that Alaya Rahm did in the USA, and his lawyer asked if the court would sue Sai Baba but the judge rejected that because this had to be done in India.

4) Moreno always deviously overlooks everything which is documented but is against his agenda of denial of everything against Sathya Sai Baba. He definitely knows that the CBI investigated the murders of 1993 due to complaints about the Puttaparthi police cover-up and sabotage to cover up for Sathya Sai Baba. He is also informed that this was quashed by the Home Minister S.B. Chavan’s intervention with the backing of the PM Narasimha Rao. Moreno tries to cover this severe corruption up and never in any way mentions the known  protection by the Indian government, judiciary and Prime Ministers and Presidents. He performs mental double backward somersaults to settle on most of his standpoints.

Intimidation and bribery by Sai officials have so far worked to quash almost every grievance concerning sexual abuses, financial scams, and to terrorise the parents of murdered sons (in Sai Baba’s bedroom at Prashanthi Nilayam ashram in 1993). Such was done against Dr. Naresh Bhatia, as reported by the Daily Telegraph, and also tried against Basava Premanand and Hari Sampath, who have both survived assassination attempts.   Officials even  removed some court registers  from the records (as in the case of the document removed by the Supreme Court of India, though a copy was kept by the petitioner, Hari Sampath – see scan of affidavit below on this blog)

Joe Moreno sees “Proxy Defenders” and “Proxy Defamers” In a show of twisted pseudo-logic, false assumptions and untrue claims, this full-time character assassinator tries to show that Barry Pittard can have no support from those we help defend concerning the sexual abuses by Sathya Sai Baba they have reported, and therefore we are “self-appointed proxy defenders” etc. That we have no support is Moreno’s baseless assumption. We have been defending the weak and defenseless subjects of the sexual abuses they have informed us about against vicious attacks on them in web pages and by a massive e-mail campaign to many of their contacts, friends and families by Moreno himself.

We actually have been asked and strongly supported in exposing these matters by a number of them and some of their families – apart for many other e-mails and comment writers on ExBaba.com, not least the Rahm family, Conny Larsson, Ullrich Zimmermann, to name but a few.  We do not release the countless e-mails and letters, or phone calls because we have most often been asked for and have guaranteed confidentiality. This is partly because many can put themselves at risk of serious consequences (i.e. those who live in or have to visit `India). Not only have Sai students been murdered in cold blood in Sai Baba’s bedroom while he stood by, but Moreno himself has exerted himself stupendously to libel, spread gossip and contradict without any evidence more than 30 alleging victims in web pages, blogs and postings on boards, portals and defamatory comments galore to articles all over the Internet… a despicable attempt to harm people we know to be genuine and truthful after years of contact with many of them. So much for “Sathya Sai Baba Life, Love & Spirituality” and Sai Baba’s “Help ever, harm never”, “Love all, Serve all”

See how Joe Moreno makes a great fuss about Pittard and I not having seen abuse by Sathya Sai Baba, and not having been present to any abuse. So what? Acts of which people are guilty are convicted by persons who were not witnesses, often only on forensic or circumstantial evidence. Sathya Sai Baba has been charged in the Supreme Court, but he is protected by the Government and judiciary and cannot be brought to book within India. Moreno seems to promote the almost pathological ‘solipsistic’ idea that not witnessing an event personally disqualifies one from evaluating it through the evidence and testimony, following this up through contacts and questioning and reporting about the results. Patently absurd!

Moreno slips up in saying we have NEVER (ever) been abused! We HAVE been abused – though not sexually – but by a despicable and far-reaching break of trust by Sathya Sai Baba. Many others have experienced this as abuse!  I have been wrongfully deceived on many counts – both by Sathya Sai Baba himself and his minions.  As to “psychologically unstable conspiracy theorists” Moreno supposes us to be (with no evidence because there is none, of course!)… well, that claim is surely what Moreno himself immaturely likes to characterise as “blathering” and “frothing at the mouth”.  Moreno charges Pittard and me as being “cult leaders” which is an acrobatic reversal of the truth, typical of virtually all Moreno’s more preposterous claims. It is the Sathya Sai Baba personality and religious cult that is the problem, not us! We were both once devoted workers for the Sathya Sai project, but we learned the truth about him. Joe Moreno claims he is not a follower and does not believe Sathya Sai Baba is an omniscient avatar etc. He long believed that SB is a sexual abuser… and I have indicated partly why. He is in deep psychological denial, as his thousands of web pages/blogs/comments and constant disruptive stalking activities of most Sai critics by him prove to the hilt.

Why this perpetual backward pseudo reasoning from Moreno? It is a case of total denial of a compulsive kind. Moreno has himself described how his pants were lowered by Sathya Sai Baba lowered  and he was ‘oiled’ on his “lower stomach”. Since this was not done by a doctor under consent, it was sexual interference without explanation (‘grooming’ or testing for an erection) which objectively amounts to himself having been molested sexually (according to Indian law). Moreno did not perceive it as such, but few who go into the private room behind closed doors believing Sathya Sai Baba to be a divinity seldom do. The attention he felt this amounted to gave him a great lift, and he has stated that no one before Sai Baba had taken any notice of him! Few tell openly what happened, and Sai Baba warns most not to tell. This prominent fact in Moreno’s story is one which we may be allowed to question further, as has Basava Premanand in confronting Moreno’s defamations.  One obviously asks “how low”? Embarrassment in telling the facts accurately can fairly be assumed. Why? A well-known British author – and Oxford graduate – wrote in a popular work on Indian spirituality etc. that Sathya Sai Baba rubbed oil on his chest – but he later actually admitted to me in an e-mail that it was actually on the perineum – that is, the spot between the gonads and the anus! I have so far spared him further embarrassment by not publishing his name and providing documentation (which I do have).
